For the past couple of years we have spent Christmas at our favorite beach, Cape San Blas, Florida.
We love this beach so, so much. It’s pet-friendly, so Miley, Howie, and Winnie can take walks on the beach with us every morning. Cape San Blas is on a stretch of beach called “The Forgotten Coast”. You can see why! We had the beach almost all to ourselves. There are no huge condominiums here.
Cape San Blas has the BEST seashells!!
And the BEST sunsets.
The cape faces west so the sun sets over the water every night.
You can even build bonfires on the beach! Every night we would build a bonfire, watch the sunset, and make s’mores.
Where to Stay In Cape San Blas When Traveling With Pets
We always stay at Barrier Dunes Vacation Rentals in Cape San Blas. I am standing on the beach taking this photo, so that is how close you are to the beach at Barrier Dunes. Steps away! :)
The amenities at The Cape Escape cannot be beat!!! They come with everything from free Wi-Fi, covered garage, beach chairs, beach buckets, shovels, and toys, a cooler, spices for cooking (you can fish right on the beach!), pack & plays, high chairs — all the necessities so you don’t have to haul everything with you!
They even have extras for your pet! The Cape Escape Vacation Rentals come with dog towels and a food bowl. There are also pet stations provided throughout the neighborhood to keep the beaches clean and make it easy for you!
Our condo was a 4-story, 3 bed, 3.5 bath beach front unit. The first story is the covered garage…
And the second story is the living room, dining room, full kitchen, half bath, and a balcony with direct access to the beach. We could walk out the living room straight down the the beach.
The third story is two bedrooms and two bathrooms…
One of the bedrooms has it’s own private balcony directly facing the beach.
The second bedroom would be perfect for a couple of kiddos!
There’s even a laundry unit on this floor.
The top floor is the private master suite with bathroom, walk-in closet, and another private beachfront balcony.
Here’s a link to the exact unit where we stayed.
For more options, check out out The Cape Escape Vacation Rentals. The have a great site with tons of info and pictures on each unit. Tell Wendy that Kevin and Amanda sent you!! :)
Kevin and Amanda,
What beautiful photographs! Please send me your correct email address as I’ve been trying to reach you to ask permission to use one of your photos. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us.
HI Amanda,
Just wanted to let you know that after seeing your posts about Cape San Blas, we made the 14 hour drive from Texas to stay there for Thanksgiving week. We brought our two large dogs and they LOVED it. It was perfect. We stayed at one of the Cape Escapes Barrier Dunes Beach Front rentals. Wendy and the unit were so awesome. Ours had dog towels, bowls and even some toys for them. We had one issue with the faucet in the kitchen and Wendy had it fixed in just a couple of hours. Thanks for the recommendation. We had such a great time. In fact, we are leaving in a couple of weeks for another stay!!
Oh my, Amanda! I would not have blogged about your beautiful Cape San Blas, if I were you! :) Now, your beautiful, secluded spot will be secluded no more! I think I need to plan a trip there, soon! And please share – how do you get those 3 adorable pups to pose so charmingly – enjoying the sunset?!
Hehe. I was kind of thinking the same thing! I’ve been to Florida so many times and have never heard of this incredible place! What a fabulous Christmas retreat + marvelous sunsets!!! Oh my.
Love the pictures and recommendations! Would love to see more “puppy” pictures!
We took your advice about Cape Sans Blas when you posted in 2015 and last year in June we spent a week at the location. There were 7 of us and we ended up booking a condo by the lake on the inner corridor of the complex. We had two dogs with us and two kids (and one teen). We had such a great time! Wendy, who we booked with, was more than helpful and friendly. The unit was perfect. We used the washer and dryer every day! We had the best time (and so did the dogs)! Sunset evenings, steaks on the grill, feeding bread to the turtles and fish in the pond every night, and lots and lots of relaxation. It was everything you said and so much more. We will plan to return to the Cape in future years. Thank you for recommending this place. I’d never heard of it if you hadn’t written about it!
This looks like a fabulous place. I am adding it to my travel list! Thanks for sharing
