Ultimate Halloween Peanut Butter Oreo Brownie Bar

I’ve been seeing these new white chocolate candy corn Halloween M&Ms pop up all over my favorite food blogs recently, and I knew I had to get my hands on some! I had no idea what to expect. Did they taste like white chocolate? Candy corn? M&Ms? I was totally intrigued, so at 10 pm on Friday night, Jenny and I decided on the spur of the moment to go on the hunt all over Nashville in search of these mysterious candies. Just another a day in the crazy life of two sweet shoppers! (Make sure you check out Jenny’s yummy dessert with the same M&M’s today too!)

Let me save you a little bit of time. We found out these special Halloween treats are a Walmart exclusive, and we eventually found them not in the Halloween section and not in the candy aisle… but in their own display in the produce section. Well that should have been a no-brainer, right?

They’re slightly larger (and more irregularly shaped) than plain M&Ms and they taste like white chocolate chips. I’m guessing the candy corn name comes from the fun colors of the M&Ms. I love peanut butter and white chocolate and I knew exactly what I was going to do with these…

I recreated my Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie n’ Oreo Fudge Brownie Bar with a peanut butter cookie & white chocolate candy corn M&M base and Halloween Oreos.

It’s a warm, gooey peanut butter cookie topped with a soft, fudgy brownie, with a sweet double stuffed Oreo nestled right in the middle. It’s the ultimate chocolate peanut butter treat!

This peanut butter cookie recipe is insane, it tastes just like peanut butter ice cream. Love it!

If you can’t find the white chocolate candy corn M&Ms, I think Reese’s Pieces would be incredible in these cookies. Or just leave it plain! I seriously cannot say enough good things about this cookie dough.

How to Make the Ultimate Halloween Brownie Bars

Break out the fun Halloween Oreos…

And layer them over the cookie dough. I push my Oreos to the middle because I usually cut off just a little bit of the edges for bar treats. I’m a no-edge girl.

Now here’s a little secret I learned from Picky Palate. I always add 1/4 cup hot fudge topping to all boxed brownie mixes. It makes them so gooey and fudgy!

Whip up a 9×13 Family Size brownie mix and add in some hot fudge topping. Or dang. What about caramel topping?? Someone please try this and report back.

  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

  4. Mix together brownie mix, adding an optional 1/4 cup of hot fudge topping to the mix. Pour the brownie batter over the cookie dough and Oreos.

I have been drooling over these for about 2 weeks and finally made them this afternoon – they are PERFECTION! I seriously love the peanut butter part and those Candy Corn M&Ms are my new favorite! I was a little doubtful about adding the fudge sauce to the brownie mix but it turned out sooo yummy. Can’t wait to add ice cream and do it up right! :)

Hey Amanda- I made these last year from my sons birthday party, and he loved them so much I am making them again this year! His birthday is on Halloween, so it fits right into the ‘campfire themed’ birthday! Anyways, I am thinking of trying these as cupcakes, any idea if they will work that way, I know I would probably need to reduce baking time… Any other suggestions?

Thanks for all the great recipes! Your savory pull pork has been made QUITE a few times also!! :)

  3. Anna Marie

I just made these this evening as my son brought me 2 bags of the M&M’s from Texas that he found around Halloween time. these are so good and rich, WOW!! hubby will be taking some to work and I’ll also take some tomorrow for our Sunday School class!! Thank you for a really good and unique recipe!!

  4. Hannah

Oh my gosh! I made these with reeses pieces in the peanut butter cookie layer, they were amazing! I will be making variations of these for every Oreo holiday color! Easter with a confetti cake cookie maybe!!!

  5. jessica

I was planning on making these for my husband to take to work for Halloween. I bought the ingredients Sat. Oct 29. (I couldn’t find any fun Halloween candy or oreos). Then we were hit with SNOW-Pocalypse and the state of CT lost power. I finally got power back yesterday and the first thing I did was make these treats. They went to the office today and cheered up all my husband’s coworkers still without power. Thinking about trying the cookie dough pops next! (Oh- school was canceled for the week so I have lots of time!)

  6. Anna Marie

I only just heard about these M&Ms a week ago so I’ve been on a mission at the nearby Walmarts, to no avail. But I’m very excited that my son in Texas found them and has 2 bags for me!! I don’t care that they’re Fall colors, I’m making these brownies at Christmas time, when he and his family come to visit!!! SO HAPPY I FOUND THIS WEBSITE!!!

  7. Courtney

Okay, so I made them, but I am TERRIBLE at following directions when I am cooking and ended up putting the hot fudge on top of the brownies. This made for somewhat of a gooey delicious mess. My boyfriend then decided to chime in and told me I should put them in the refrigerator so that they could be turned into bars like yours were in the picture. I got up this morning to eat one and they’re hard as rocks. :-( I crushed the oreos instead of keeping them whole because I anticipated that it would be difficult to cut. Despite the gooey mess, the brownies were still received very well.

  8. sAB

These were AMAZING!! added a few things though like mini peanut butter cups to the peanut butter cookie bottom and then reese’s pieces to the brownie mix…can you say YUM!?

  9. Crystal

HOLY CRAP!!! This is like a woman with PMS’s dream! Can not wait to try this dessert out, my gain 100 lbs and die of a heart attack but hey at least I will die happy! :)

  10. Lindsay

Second time I have been to your blog first was for the no machine required ice cream and then these looked amazing!!!!! I am making them for carb night for swimming right now! Easy recipie and it seems that the m & m’s are so elusive!! I had to ask two different people at Walmart and make a special trip because ours is far away. The girl knew what I wanted we found and empty box on the top shelf and I found two hidden bags thrown behind some other candy! Jackpot! Thanks again!

  11. Amanda Bumgarner

Crap. I just went back and saw the paragraph I apparently skipped over where you explain where you found them. Please ignore previous question. I wasn’t reading carefully enough :)

  12. Amanda Bumgarner

So where did you find the M&Ms? I can’t find them anywhere! Boo :( I still plan to make them using Reese’s Pieces, though. Think that will work okay? We’re having a Halloween dessert competition at work, and obviously I’ll be making these! But I’m hoping it will turn out just as delicious without the candy corn M&Ms, because I can’t find them! Just wondering where you ended up discovering these. Love your blog!

  13. Anna @ hiddenponies

OH my. These look ridiculous. Must-make ridiculous. Since my Walmart has no produce aisle I’m hoping those m&ms are more logically placed so I can hunt them down :)

  14. Lynn

I made these last night and I’ve brought them into work and they are a HIT!!!

Thanks sooo much! The peanut butter portion alone is amazing!

  15. Cheri

Amanda, these look so incredibly tasty! I wish I wasn’t allergic to peanutbutter =( I have been looking at every Walmart in the Twin Cities for weeks to find these! I was tempted to pay $7 to EBAY just to get a bag. But I am so happy to say, I am excited to make something yummy with what remains of the 3 bags my hubby bought yesterday! He found them on the bottom shelf of a cashier lane…funny place for them but we got some!
love the pictures of Miley and Howie!!!

  16. Belle

    OMG THIS IS ULTIMATE AWESOMENESS!!!!!!

I think I’ll make this, have one to share with the fam and not eat for like 3 days afterward….

  17. Nic

Ok, i nearly fell of my chair when i saw these pictures!
Yes they do look like you will get in a mess when eating them, but hey, they sure look delicious.
Think i may jot down this one and give it a try this weekend. I will let you know how i got on with them!

  18. Lynn

    Hi Amanda,

I LOOOVE your blog, I only recently stumbled upon it maybe a few months ago but have been a pretty silent reader since (well except to comment on give-away posts ;) hehe). But I just wanted you to know I’ll be making these tomorrow for a work get together!! I think everyone will loove this! I’ll have to let you know how it goes. Thanks for your awesome blog!

  19. Montanna

I have to tell you that I was looking for the white chocolate candy corn M&Ms at the grocery store and when I got to the candy isle there was only one bag left. So, as I started towards it this lady came out of nowhere and snatched them up, I thought I was going to have to tackle her for them, but fortunately the stock guy was replenishing them.

Thanks for such a good recipe! I am making them for our holiday party at work.

  20. Rachel

I made these today for a tailgating party and it was agreed by all that you are an evil genius! There are no leftovers. :). Thanks for such a great recipe!!

  21. penny

i STUMBLED across your blog from picky-palates last night and i am soooo glad i did! I LOVE to bake but recently moved to an old country farm house that had an oven as old as dirt! the knobs didn’t even have any temperatures on them!!! it has burnt to a crisp everything from cookies/brownies/pizza and chicken : / happy to say our landlord bought us a new oven and it was installed YESTERDAY and i was so excited to bake-even more so when i found this yummy looking recipe! just pulled apple crisp out and this just went in! hope its tastes even half as good as it looks in your pictures!!! : )

  22. Ana

This looks AMAZING! I did want to give you a heads up though… you might want to stock up on peanut butter because in the next few weeks the price is going up 30 to 40 %!! Crazy, but hubby saw it on the news, something about the south not getting enough rain.

  23. Sabrina

Love this recipe! I can’t wait to make them with the kids! Yummy! Thanks for sharing the photos. I love recipes that provide photos. Makes me want to make them right away.=)

  24. JP

I made two pans of this recipe last night to take to a women’s retreat. I used Reese’s Pieces and Double Stuft Oreos (FAIL local WalMart, FAIL!). I even goofed up and added double the butter required (I got 1/2 cup and 1/2 pound mixed up), and they are still great. Next time I make these, I’ll just tell everyone it’s the lower fat version!!
Usually, I am an edge gal all the way, but for these bars, I have to agree that the middle is the prime choice!

  25. Patty H.

These look amazing! I just love how the different layers look – not to mention how they must taste. I haven’t seen those M&M’s in the store yet – – I’d better head to Walmart!

  26. Heather G.

I think I just went into diabetic shock/heaven reading about these brownies!! I think I will definitely be trying them! Wow!

  27. Mellisa ~ ChinookJewelry

Oh good golly…I’ve made your original version…and at that time I was pretty sure that they were the work of the devil…I don’t know who you’re working for or why you have it out for my hips but darn you and your sugary sweet siren songs! :)

  28. Brenda

Do you remember that TV commercial where the woman had 2 cinnamon rolls glued on her butt? I think I need 2 of these evil evil desserts!

  29. Jenni

Delight is right… oh my goodness!! My sweet tooth is going crazy now. First cupcakes & now these yummies… My sister -in-law & I are definately gonna make something sweet with these candy corn M&Ms this weekend. Oh yes, and Carmel is a must, pleaseeeeeeee LoL. Have a great weekend! {Hugs & Joy}, Jenni

  30. Kiran @ KiranTarun.com

    Amanda,
These looks so drool-worthy!!! Genius idea with the Oreos ;) I can’t wait to bake this for the holiday. Thanks for sharing :D

  31. DessertForTwo

This really should be illegal! You should be arrested for it and your punishment is to constantly churn out batch after batch for us all ;)

P.S. It was so great meeting you in Nashville :) I don’t think I ever want to take another bite of a burger again, but it was so fun!

  32. SheRocS

Amanda, you’re killing me with the Halloween rendition of your insane Ultimate Brownie Bar, AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I need this in my life like yesterday, it looks insanely fab and will get made for Halloween FOR SURE!

Keep up the amazing work, you might make me gain some love chub, but by the looks of it, it will be so worth it. They extra hours in the gym, sweating my life away will be so worthwhile for these recipes!

    Thank you!

  33. Brandi @ His Shabby Her Chic

When I saw Candy Corn M&M’s I almost lost it. Candy corn is for rizzle my favorite candy ever.

    Those brownies look super delish!

  34. Heather Mayberry

these look amazing! maybe some homemade salted caramel would be good. must try this out when i have a place to give them to people! thanks for the recipe! love your blog!

  35. Haley @ thedistractedblogger

So are you dressing up as the Mad Hatter or The Queen of Hearts for Halloween, because you are MAD! MAD, I tell you! I don’t think I could get more than two bites into that thing even though it looks fantastic.

    Take care,
    Haley

    1. Amanda

Hi Naty! I would make them as cookies and not a bar. Scoop onto a baking sheet and bake for 8 to 10 minutes @ 375 degrees F.

  36. Lisa [With Style and Grace]

Incredible. Thank you for the hard work of finding these candies [I mean, obviously in the produce section] and then making sure they were a good combo with peanut butter and oreos. I hope you rewarded yourself by taking a fork [maybe a spoon?] and diving into this beauty :)

  37. Suzanne Shepherd

Me to hubby after seeing this post: “You HAVE to see what Amanda made!!”
Hubby, upon seeing brownie pix: “Oh, that Amanda. What will she think up next?”

  38. Sarah

I was wondering how you stay slim too. I categorically avoid sweets and eat carefully and still have to run 3x a week or I’ll gain weight. And I have a pretty good metabolism! I know moderation is everything but dang I don’t think I could limit myself to just one of those brownies lol. With ice cream please.

  39. Jenny Flake

Yikes girl, this is definitely Ultimate! I would love sinking my teeth into this fabulous treat!! Loved our Nashville trip….and M&M hunting :) xoxo

  40. Erin

Evil evil evil but amazing! I just made the original recipe for these but with peanut butter oreos. Now I feel like I have to make these!

  41. Sara

I really, really, really need you to answer this: How do you stay so slim? I’m struggling, and if I made something like that, I’d eat the whole thing!! Do you give all of your treats away?

    1. Amanda

Yes! I send everything to work with Kevin and fortunately the folks he works with are nice enough to eat them. :) We ate the two brownies pictured above and the rest were sent to work! Get them outta my house!! :)

  42. Debi Kelley

OMG!!!! Between you and Jenny at Picky Palate I’m gonna gain 50 pounds… All the recipes you two have are so much fun to make…

  43. Thais

I work in law enforcement; when I made your Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie n’ Oreo Fudge Brownie Bar and took it to work they wanted to arrest me. Your latest version will surely get me arrested; it’s illegal in all 50 states!!!

  44. The Mrs @ Success Along the Weigh

Ooh the co-workers are gonna love this one. (They’re all I’ve got now since I’d probably kill off half of my family of diabetics with this one!) ;-)

    Reminder: Make dentist appt.

  45. Angela House

Have you ever tried nutella on top of brownies? It is soooo good! I am not sure it would be a good topping for this recipe though. Maybe you could come up with a coffee nutella brownie recipe. I hope you are well! We go to Lakeview once a week for our homeschool group. I think of you sometimes when I am there.

    1. Amanda

Disguise them as “fall” treats :) Have you seen the new fall colored M&Ms? They kept popping up everywhere when I was looking for these! :)

  46. Becky | Becky Bakes

You totally beat me to this! I made your original chocolate chip version awhile back (which was amazing) and thought a peanut butter adaption would be awesome too!! Watch for these popping up again on a blog near you;-)

  47. Kendra

    okay really!!! :)

My husband and I are sitting on the couch next to each other …we are both suppose to be working [on our laptops]

But I when I said “I NEED those” out loud I kind of gave myself away that I was looking at your yummy blog instead of working :)

    They look so good!

  48. kowneysa

  49. Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga

Amanda these look crazy good. And I opened up Jenny’s post and yours at the same time and bam, she has those candies…and then you talked about it and that you were on a mission together to find them.

I found white chocolate KitKats at Target. Gotta love Halloween season!

    Your bars…over.the.top.awesome.

Cookie dough, brownie, Oreos, the M & M’s…oh.boy. Thanks for the hot fudge tip via Jenny, too.
