Going to Ireland? Here’s a two week road trip itinerary that will make sure you see and do all the best things in Ireland!


Day 1 — Belfast

Arrive in Dublin and immediately rent a car and drive to Belfast, about a 1 hour 45 minute drive north. You will need a rental car for the full 2-week itinerary. Check into the hotel, then take a Peace Walls tour of Belfast.

Day 2 — Belfast

Spend the morning in Belfast. Visit St. George’s Market, the Crumlin Road Gaol, and the Titanic museum. In the late afternoon / early evening, drive 1.5 hours to Ballycastle.

Day 3 — Giant’s Causeway

Take a day trip to see the highlights of Northern Ireland’s coast: Giant’s Causeway, Magheracross View Point, Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, and Dunluce Castle.

Day 4 — Ashford Castle

Drive approximately 5 hours from Ballycastle to the Ashford Castle. Have lunch in Mullaghmore at Eithna’s By the Sea Restaurant. After lunch, drive north along the coast (with Eithna’s on your left and the sea on your right) to the Mullaghmore Head view point. If you keep going straight this will loop you back around to the highway. Take a slight detour to see the Gleniff Horseshoe Drive waterfall.

Day 5 — Ashford Castle

Have an unforgettable “Hawk Walk” experience with the Ashford Castle’s school of falconry. Have afternoon tea at the castle. Explore the castle grounds and gardens, or borrow the complimentary bikes from the lodge and visit the Cong Abbey ruins.

Day 6 — Galway

Drive 1 hour from Ashford Castle to Galway. Take a detour to see Kylemore Abbey and the Connemara National Park.

Take a day trip from Galway to see the Cliffs of Moher.

Drive from Galway to Dingle, on the way take a scenic drive around the Dingle Peninsula.

Drive 2 hours from Dingle to Portmagee, home for the next 2 nights. You’ll drive the northern half of the Ring of Kerry loop.

Day 10 — Skellig Michael

Take a day trip to visit Skellig Michael.
