Oh my goodness, these brownies are one of the most popular recipes on our entire site, if not THE most popular recipe of all time. When I dreamed up these brownies, I hadn’t seen them anywhere else before. I knew they were a winner, but could’ve never dreamed how popular they would become!! Since then I’ve seen this idea taken all over the internet, either my recipe or a copycat (with a very, uh, “creative” name). Nevertheless, it’s always a compliment when people really like an idea you created.

Top 20 Most Popular Recipes of 2013: Chess Squares

Your family will be fighting over the leftovers — if there are any! :)

Top 20 Most Popular Recipes of 2013: Spicy Sausage Pasta

1. Spicy Sausage Pasta

And finally, the number one most popular recipe of 2013 is this Spicy Sausage Pasta. Not surprised at all by this revelation!! It is definitely one of our favorite meals. I’ve made it so many times I can’t even count! We have it all the time. It’s all cooked in one pot (you don’t even have to boil the noodles first) and it’s done in less than 30 minutes. It’s easy to keep everything you need to make it on hand so you can whip this up on those “what am I going to make for dinner??” nights.

***

So there you have it! The best recipes of 2013. I had fun going back and reminiscing about some of my old (and new!) favorites with you! :)

I can’t wait to see what 2014 brings. Happy New Year!

Love the spicy sausage pasta. I use an Italian turkey sausage from Costco sometimes and give it an Italian twist. It’s a great one pot meal!

Your pictures are always so gorgeous – you’re definitely more talented than I am. However, I am growing tired of bokeh, bokeh, bokeh everywhere I look on the internet. It’s starting to make me feel dizzy! I’d love to learn more about photography that doesn’t include shooting “wide open.” I can learn this anywhere online, but your tutorials are always the best. If you get the chance, maybe that could be a good blog topic!

Hi Ashley! Here is a tutorial that talks about shooting with a low aperture as well as a wide aperture:

Hope this helps!

I LOVE the spicy sausage pasta! The first time I made it, I accidentally doubled the amount of chicken broth, but it did cook down and became super creamy. I made it again that way the second time, so it’s a slight variation since I skip the broiler step too, but it tastes SO GOOD! I’m so happy you posted it; it makes me want to try your other recipes too! I especially appreciate all your pictures. It makes it so much easier for me, haha.

I only recently started following your blog more closely…. you guys have the best recipes!!! Making the cheesy chicken bacon broccoli rice tonight and the sausage and shrimp pastas soon, too. Not to mention the sweets- I’m drooling :)

Also THANKS for making your images clickable. That’s one of my biggest blog pet peeves when they lead to the image source.

Amanda, I ran across this pin yesterday and thought, “Huh? I think I’ll have to check it out” As I did, I found a recipe that I made for dinner that very same night. The spicy sausage pasta. It had all of my hub’s favorite fixins. I have to say he called me from work and thanked me AGAIN for dinner as he had just enjoyed the last of it for his lunch. I also made the chess squares and those were a big hit with the whole family. So today I’m back for some more. Thanks for a new place to find inspiration.

I’ve determined you are bad for my diet. ;) Thanks for sharing! Also – I noticed Kevin’s shirt in your sidebar photo – my sister went to Auburn! I’d say “War Eagle,” but I went to FSU. :)

My sister sent me the sausage pasta recipe and I couldn’t believe a dish that took less than 25 minutes had so much flavour packed into it. I have made it twice already and it is now on my weeknight menu rotation. It is so easy and so good. My 4.5 and 2.5 year old love it too!
I LOVE your dessert recipes so much but am so scared to make them. I am in the process of losing weight and these would just sabotage my diet as I would eat the whole thing. I love to bake and make desserts and wish I could get to my desired weight so I could eat this and exercise and just maintain. LOL

I have made the s’more cookies SEVERAL times and always get rave reviews! I do have a question though. The dough never really comes together for me…it’s always just crumbles. I make it work but when I get to end of the batch I always seem to have more choc chips and marshmallows than dough. I end up tossing it because I can’t form balls to bake. Any suggestions? Also saw about a zillion comments re the spicy sausage pasta… Will have to try that next! Thank you!
