Blissdom 2012 and the Opryland Hotel, Nashville

Opryland Hotel, Nashville

What an incredibly awesome whirlwind Blissdom was! A few weekends ago I had the pleasure of attending the Blissdom blogging conference in Nashville, TN. If you’re a blogger, or think you might want to be a blogger, and ever get the opportunity to attend a blogging conference, I would totally try to go. I absolutely love connecting with the amazing community of fellow bloggers, meeting new friends, and making contacts with fabulous brands and companies who love working with bloggers. This was my first year at Blissdom, but I’ve also attended a few BlogHer conferences (I plan to attend both BlogHer Food in Seattle and BlogHer in NYC this year) and I know there are many other wonderful conferences out there.

Opryland Hotel, Nashville

On Thursday my friend, neighbor, and fellow blogger Stephanie picked me up for breakfast and manicures, then we hopped in the car and drove up from Alabama headed for the Opryland Hotel, where the Blissdom conference was being held.

Oh my goodness, how gorgeous was this hotel! It was absolutely massive and so incredibly beautiful. You could absolutely come spend a long weekend here and never leave. I think it would be perfect for a honeymoon. :)

Opryland Hotel, Nashville

There are beautiful walking trails, fun shopping, and tons of restaurants all within the hotel, in perfect climate controlled weather year round.

Thanks so much to Stephanie for letting me borrow a few of her awesome photos :) I couldn’t seem to stop snapping photos of this fun hotel!

Opryland Hotel, Nashville

Not to mention gorgeous waterfalls!

Whose room was this??

Actually, I think the Opryland would be perfect for a wedding as well :)

Opryland Hotel, Nashville

Loved these darling rooms with balconies overlooking the gardens!

Opryland Hotel, Nashville

How lovely would it be to sit out here with a cup of coffee on a quiet morning?

Opryland Hotel, Nashville

I’d been to the Opryland once before, many years ago when I was in 7th or 8th grade, and I remember snapping a zillion photos of all the waterfalls back then too. :)

Note to self: I want a koi pond.

Here’s another photo Stephanie snapped of me while she was hiding behind a waterfall. :)

Opryland Hotel, Nashville

We walked all over this place and I think it took us four full days to finally learn our way around the hotel!

Opryland Hotel, Nashville

Just as we were leaving, of course. :)

Opryland Hotel, Nashville

It was definitely like it’s own little city in here!

This was the main room you walk into after you check in, The Cascades.

Opryland Hotel, Nashville

This is why they call it the Cascades :)

The Cascades restaurant offers a fabulous view of the beautiful falls.

There are also TONS of other restaurants all throughout the hotel.

Opryland Hotel, Nashville

Each one offers a different cuisine. We tried as many as we could, I loved the caprese salad from here!

The floors are color-coded at the Opryland to help you find your way around. We stayed in the Magnolia Wing so our floors had magnolia carpeting.

I loved every minute of our stay here. Such a great place for a fun weekend getaway.

Have you stayed at the Opryland? I would love to see your photos! If you’ve got a link, feel free to leave it in the comments and I’d love to stop by and see your photos :)

Have a great Wednesday!

We LOVE Gaylord Opryland! We spent the first night of our honeymoon there and it was fabulous. They treated us like royalty! We also go there every year for a convention with the church. The last time we went (in 2010), I tried to take a few Easter pictures of our daughter. Pics here- http://www.thisgirlsblog.com/2010/04/easter-19-month-update_12.html

Love your waterfall picture! The month after our trip was when the river flooded in Nashville. Hard to believe those beautiful gardens were filled with water. Pic of the flooding here-

I just loved your pictures of the Opryland Hotel. I have always wanted to stay there and your pictures just reinforced my desire to go. I was thinking this was the hotelthat had been flooded some years ago so I looked it up. Here are some pictures for you to see how much they have done to bring it back to the beautiful hotel it was before the flood. http://www.glassmagazine.com/news-item/commercial/nashville-flooding-impacts-glass-and-glazing-companies123 You will be amazed at how much work must have been done to get it to look like it does in your pictures.

Yes, this hotel lobby sustained major flooding only 2 years ago. IT is even more beautiful now! Thanks for sharing the pictures!!!

This hotel looks so amazing! What a beautiful comeback since the flood. This looks like a perfect getaway spot anytime of the year, but especially winter! It would be lie getting a glimpse of spring.

Oh my word! Breathtaking hotel. It reminds me of a hotel in Central Florida called ‘Gaylord Palms’ except much more opulent.

I believe this is the Gaylord Palms in TN…looks exactly like the Gaylord Palms in Orlando. It’s a beautiful place to stay.

No, the Gaylord Palms is in Florida. These pictures are of the Gaylord OPRYLAND in Nashville, Tennessee. Same company, different hotel.

Oh I was so excited to open my email & see that you had visited the Opryland Hotel. My husband & I went on our honeymoon there 12 1/2 years ago. I was sad to hear when they had the flooding in Nashville. I think a bunch of stuff got wrecked in the hotel. But it brightened my day to see your photos of everything put back together. They must have worked hard. It looks as beautiful as ever. Each time we left our room or headed back to it from some adventure we had been on, we took different paths through the gardens. So exquisite & romantic to casually walk down the paths & sit in some of the secluded areas & just relax & listen. The food was great at the different restaurants that we ate at too. Thanks for bringing back such wonderful memories.

Hey Amanda,

Welcome to Music City, Amanda! Opryland Hotel is a grand dame isn’t she? You captured some lovely photos of the hotel property, restaurants, landscaping and beautiful falls, but you really should come back again sometime between Thanksgiving and New Year’s and see the GORGEOUS Christmas decorations. They are OVER THE TOP. Can you imagine two years ago 19 feet of flood waters from the Cumberland River were inside this hotel …right where the Cascades is located? What a phenomenal mess that was! Thanks for the great blog about our city and its finest hotel. Y’all come back now, ye hear?! Mary Anne

Gorgeous photos! I wish I’d taken more time to concentrate on that aspect of the trip – I did take my fair share but spent most of my time experimenting with the camera. ;)

I agree with you about it being a lovely honeymoon (or second honeymoon?) destination – I already told my husband that he needs to come with me next year, we can save up to have a room to ourselves and he can take pictures to his heart’s content while I go to the sessions. I just know he’d love it there as much as I did.

Hi Amanda! I stayed there last year during a Stampin’ Up! leadership conference and I can’t wait to go back. It truly is one of the most gorgeous hotels I’ve ever seen. AMAZING!

We were there in mid-January and they were just starting to take down some of the Christmas decorations. I think it would be fun to stay during the holidays.

Most of my pics were taken during the evening, so they are a bit dark. I loved the floating hot air balloons! Did you get a chance to see any of the fountain light shows?

Amanda-Thanks for “taking me back”! Quite a few years ago I sold Southern Living At HOME for a season and attended a convention at the Opryland. It was beautiful! As a newbie blogger I hope to attend Blissdom someday…I always love your posts. If you need travel ideas, check out Bend, OR or Gig Harbor, WA.

I was so sad that I missed Blissdom this year!! I found out about it 2 days after it ended, and when I learned that it was at Opryland I was even more disappointed since I live only about 20 minutes from there. Your pictures are beautiful, and I agree with everyone who said it’s even more gorgeous around the holidays!!

Hi Amanda!

I would have introduced myself, but I was the dork sitting behind you who spilled water on your bag at Me Ra’s session – couldn’t really think of a good opening line after that – LOL
I love that hotel – I had one of the balcony rooms in the garden this year and it was AMAZING to go to sleep to the sounds of the water. It was like my own personal white noise machine!
I am glad you enjoyed Blissdom – this is my 4th year, and I’ve been to other conferences, but this one just seems…friendlier? Hopefully we will meet up at another conference, and I promise not to spill water on you! :)

Even more amazing is that the hotel was almost completely underwater less than 2 years ago following the Nashville flood. I grew up just across the river from Opryland (and am only 15 minutes away now), and have enjoyed many trips there to see the lights at Christmas. Glad you were able to visit!

And I am so bummed that I didn’t get to meet you! I am hoping to go to BlogHer in August as well, and definitely Blissdom next year, so maybe then!

When you come to Seattle…you MUST enjoy a dish of Beecher’s Mac & Cheese! Seriously delish! My husband and I will venture into the city on occasion just to enjoy some! If it’s a nice day when you are visiting, take your order to go, upon leaving the store go right and walk to the end of Pike Place Market, cross the street and enjoy your mac and cheese at the picnic tables overlooking the Puget Sound.

I looooooove this hotel. Last year my husband and I went 3 times! It’s like Disney World for adults. I hate that I missed this conference. I’ve been blogging for less than a year. I wish I had know about it. So ironic, I just came back from the Gaylord on this Friday :-) Here are links to my Gaylord pics. Christmas at the Gaylord is amazing!
