Backyard Monsters

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

We’ve been having such lovely end-of-summer weather this week. It’s been cool, bright, and breezy. It feels like fall! I’m loving it. Although down here in Alabama we’ve got at least a couple more months before we’ll officially experience fall, and it’s likely to turn right back to 90 degrees and sweltering any day now. Therefore, we are taking every advantage of this beautiful weather right now and the monsters (a.k.a. Miley and Howie) are having a ball!

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

Literally!

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

We bought one of those big bouncy balls — you know the ones in the giant metal cage right in the middle of the aisle –  on a whim several years ago when Howie was just a puppy, just to see what Miley and Howie would do with one.

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

And oh my goodness.

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

They are absolutely obsessed with the things! They love it!

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

They chase it all over the backyard.

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

It’s their favorite toy ever. Just look at this happy girl!

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

They go crazy when we bring one into the house.

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

And if we try to hide it, they always somehow know!

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

Even if they never see it, they can sniff it out. Howie will stand by the door to the room where it’s hidden and stay there until we open the door and let him investigate! Just look at those crazy eyes!

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

He’s on a mission!

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

AHHH! I FOUND IT!

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

*SMOOSH*

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

This is what they do with one (after thoroughly chasing it all over the yard) …

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

Bounce!

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

Gross.

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

They’ll bounce it back and forth all over the yard, like little seals.

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

Attractive.

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

Where is it, Miley?

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

Oh, that crazy tongue.

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

It’s got a mind of it’s own!

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

Almost! There!

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

SNARF!

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

Sometimes Kevin will throw the ball realllly high and they’ll run all over the backyard waiting for it to bounce.

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

They’re looking!

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

There it is!

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

Rawr!

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

Of course no summer afternoon ends without a quick drink from the water hose.

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

Ahhh! Howie is so incredibly happy right now!

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

He’ll stand under the water and shake and shake and shake.

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

Then go back for more.

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

He loves water so much. Look at those obsessed eyes!!

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

CHOMP!

Miley & Howie, the Boston Terrier Puppies

Happy Wednesday! :)

Amanda,
Howie & Miley are adorable! In the midwest we are FINALLY experiencing cooler weather also. We play frisbee with our boston, Buddy, and then he runs to our pool and lays on the first step cooling off in the water….he even has his very own raft! He may soon get a “cousin”, our daughter’s fiance` just bought a house (4 blocks from us!) And wants his own buddy! I am a dog lover but i am CRAZY for a boston……nothing like ‘em! Smooches to Howie & Miley!

Thanks for making my Wednesday morning! Really great shots and I liked your commentary.

Feels like football weather here in Auburn. They’ve put the seats in the stadium. Just a few more weeks and it will be tailgating season!

OMG! I love it!!! We have 2 chihuahuas that have been loving this weather also. Dogs are sooooo much better in 2′s. When it comes to playing with toys our girl, Sable is all over it. Unfortunately, she doesn’t let our boy, Boogie play. She runs all over like a maniac to make sure it’s all about her! So Boogie is just our lover boy.

I have just recently rescued my 2nd Boston. he’s a wild boy, so sweet! he’s ripped up every ball he has had in the past two months since coming to live with me. but I think I may have to go out and get him a bouncy ball!! thanks for the pics!

I love, love, love these pictures. You did such a terrific job of capturing their joy and play. I’m still new and I am taking a class, but it’s difficult to capture such quick action. Your pups look like they’re full of energy…they are darling. I would love it if you would join our Puppy Love Photo Party & Cats link up on Monday. Its’ once a month…just to share our love with other pet lovers. There’s a giveaway too for one partier … but the main thing is just to see fur babies. Anyway, these guys are so cute and you did an awesome job capturing it.

I love your Boston Terriers and is the main reason I have been following you. I also have a Boston and participate in agility in Louisiana. Presently looking for another agility dog instead of a Sheltie that all my friends are encouraging me to switch breeds. I know you have been successful in the past
agility trials and therefore am inquiring about a breeder that may breed for performance or just a good sound active Boston. Your response would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. My guy Charlie also goes crazy over bouncing balls of any type and water spouting from a hose. Bostons are so much fun!!!!
