I get asked all the time- “What kind of camera do you use?” Currently I have a Canon Digital Rebel XTi with three lenses- a Canon 85mm f/1.8, a Canon 70-200mm f/4.0L , and a Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8. My favorite lens is the 85mm, but my most versatile lens is the Tamron. I hope to upgrade it soon. :)
With Christmas coming up, I know there are quite a few of you out there hoping to find an XTi under the tree. And if this is your first SLR, you’ll quickly find that it’s not called a point and shoot for a reason! :) I wrote up a very basic guide to hopefully help you better understand SLR photography and be able to get the most out of your new SLR camera so you don’t have to keep it in Auto mode all the time!

I just got my XTI after Thanksgiving, and with all the holiday ordeals going on (shopping, get-togethers, wrapping, etc.) I still haven’t had a chance to sit down and really try to figure out my new camera. So, guess what I’ll be doing on my Christmas vacation? LOL. Thanks so much for posting the guide—I am printing it as I type this. I am stoked to find out that this is the same camera you use. LOVE your site…and check in often! I also love your recent family photo! The dogs look so adorable!! I love their outfits.
