Silhouette (Winner announced!)

Time’s up!

The winner of the Silhouette Craft Cutter is #94 Cerise.

Congrats Cerise! I’ve sent you an email.

Silhouette Craft Cutter Giveaway

Happy Friday! To celebrate the weekend, I’ve got a Silhouette Personal Craft Cutter to give away today. The Silhouette connects to your computer just like a printer, but instead of printing designs it cuts them with a small blade. It’s small and portable, weighing in at only 4.5 lbs. There are no expensive cartridges or alphabets to buy. It comes with the software to create your own designs, and you can also cut out any font on your computer. Including all the Kevin & Amanda Fonts! The Silhouette is Mac and PC friendly.

I love that the Silhouette software will trace and cut any image for you. Creating your own designs (like this silhouette of Miley) could not be easier!

My little love – my son Casey – is now 2 1/2 and we’ve been trying to think of ways to make his room a “big boy” room. As much as I want to keep him small forever, it’s time to redecorate! I would LOVE to be able to give him some personal touches in his new room…. What kid wouldn’t love having their name in lights on the wall??

159
Hazel June 24, 2011 at 7:16 am

Just looking at the immense unlockable potential in this machine, is making me giddy! The 1st project I’d try out would have to be the bathroom, or more exactly the mirror above the wash basin. I think I’d give it more depth and pride by creating some lovely weaving, leafy decal patterns around it. Dreamy and baroque!

160

Teresa June 24, 2011 at 7:18 am

The very first thing I would do is wall art for rooms in my home. I’m undergoing treatment and am often sick and in bed at home and so I would print out words of encouragement and beautiful sayings that will remind that “This too shall pass” and “If he brings me to it, he’ll see me through it.” I would ask friends and family to email me their suggestions of encouragement and faith then print them and have my husband and sons put them up to keep my spirits going. Gosh this sounds so sad but when going through tough times, you have to grab onto anything that will get you through it!

Thanks!

carol amie June 24, 2011 at 7:37 am

I’m all about the tattoos. I saw some super kid ‘if your kid gets lost at the fair in one of my worst nightmares come to life sort of fashion, call this number’ temporary tattoos that make me Squeal with glee.

Plus, I’d love to be able to kick my cricut to the curb and never buy another cartridge again. Can’t believe they won’t let SCAL sell software for cutting computer fonts on the bug anymore. :(

Oh please, oh please, oh please *fingers crossed*. What an Awesome giveaway!

272

277
Meredith June 24, 2011 at 7:37 am

Hi, Amanda! You have the BEST giveaways!

If I had the Silhouette Craft Cutter, I’d make wall decals first! I’m not married yet but when I am, I want the decal over our bed to read ‘All because two people fell in ♥’. AND, I totally dig the ‘Drop Your Drawers Here’ laundry decal…I have a feeling I’ll need that after having been married to a stinkin’ boy for a few years hehe :)

278

I would have to say that etching glass is right up my alley…what, with all the jars I have around this kitchen, it would be nice to label them so as to not confuse the salt with the sugars, yes? Bribing with cookies has proven to be unsuccessful for me, shall we try chocolate cake? I could even throw in a glass of milk…..cheers!

281
Maggie G June 24, 2011 at 7:38 am

I would definitely etch glass! I’ve been doing it for awhile by hand, and the silhouette would make my life a lot easier!

291
Jane Schwalm June 24, 2011 at 7:39 am

There are so many things that I would love to do with a Silhouette that it is difficult which one to do first. Probably my son and and daughter-in-law would borrow it since their first child, and our first grandchild is due ANY DAY NOW 9he’s already late) and they would cut out his name and put it over the crib,

For me, I have a large wall in my bathroom and I would I would to have words such as “Relaxing” “Splish Splash” “Taking a Bath” “Serenity” “Bubbles”…a wall of bath words :)

292
Carrie June 24, 2011 at 7:39 am

300
Susan Mast June 24, 2011 at 7:40 am

I’ve been watching the silhouette since I first saw it advertised in a trade magazine. It’s the best! No cartridges! I print images and text from my computer for craft projects and card making nearly every day, so this is definitely the tool for me! After a few paper projects to get the hang of how this baby works, I would try a vinyl project for my wall.

301
Elizabeth June 24, 2011 at 7:40 am

I would want to try vinyl wall art for our entryway or some scrapbooking projects! Thanks for the giveaway :)

302
Kori June 24, 2011 at 7:40 am

I would start out with the iron-ons. My husband’s softball team plays very well and they have a shot at the wildcard slot for the playoffs. So with the Silhouette Cutter I could print up personalized team shirts. With new shirts and little bit of luck they may go all the way! Very excited about this giveaway…Thanks for the chance!

303
Julie McD June 24, 2011 at 7:40 am

As much as I’d love to say the glass jars, I’m guessing my kids would convince me to do tattoos first! Looks like so much fun! I could make some really cool Christmas gifts too!

304

I have etched glass before, but had to hand cut contact paper to make the border! It looked terrible! I’ve done so many hand cut items that this machine would be a great addition! I would like to use this in combination with my Print Gocco machine and do some silhouette/screen printed collages!

317
Kimberly June 24, 2011 at 7:42 am

318
Candice Hart June 24, 2011 at 7:43 am

I’m so excited to see this give a way again! I’ve been wanting one ever since I last saw it on your blog! Thanks so much for the opportunity.

319
katie June 24, 2011 at 7:43 am

Vinyl. Definitely vinyl.
Thanks for the opportunity! :o)

338
Stephanie June 24, 2011 at 7:45 am

I have two children that would think I am the best thing since sliced bread (or cake!) if I could give them temporary tatoos! For myself, I would like to creating items with the iron-on transfer feature. I’m a stay-at-home Mom, trying to start a small business. Perhaps I could put my company logo on t-shirts or bags? How wonderful would that be!

339

371
Tiffany Cable June 24, 2011 at 7:50 am

The first craft I would do would be to let my mom do whatever she wanted with the machine. I would help her with the project. You see this is the one thing that would relax her more than anything. She has three boys and they stress her out all the time and I’m away at college and can’t help her with them. This is the one thing that my mom can focus on that won’t make her think about her anxiety, stress, weight, my grandma’s death, and everything else she needs to plan for in the upcoming weeks. It would be so great if I could win and give it to her. Besides I want to try and make fake tattoos. That’s the coolest thing ever.

372
Heather G June 24, 2011 at 7:50 am

I would try making some decorations for my new classroom! Being a first year teacher, money’s tight and making my own decorations would be cheaper and more unique!

375
marywithgarden June 24, 2011 at 7:50 am

I can see why you love this machine. So many projects you could do with such precision. Boggles the mind to think about. I think I would surprise my adult children with making them a temp tattoo to celebrate their birthday and include it in a custom made card that would be in the same theme. I can see an antique tractor tattoo for my daughter who loves urban agriculture with a card that would be fields of crops surrounded by city buildings in the background….hmmm. Wish I had the Silhouette right now to get started!

376
Amy June 24, 2011 at 7:50 am

I definitely have some new vinyl projects in mind for the house! Great giveaway! Thank you!

This is only the 2nd time I have entered a contest in all the years I have had internet. I was drawn to this because I saved all my husband’s jeans after he passed away to make things for some family members. (Hope this doesn’t sound weird)

Anyway I got some ideas from family and decided on quilt blocks that could be sewed together for pillows, book covers, etc. The hard part was, adding applica so things wouldn’t look so plain.

This machine will save so much cutting by hand (arthritis).

Sorry so long winded
Barb

I love the vinyl wall examples you’ve shown (but then again, I ♥ your blog immensely anyway, for everything you do … I want your life!!) … so I think that would be among the first things I’d try with the Silhouette. I currently cut with a Cricut Expression but since the “flap” over cutting with “Make the Cut” and “Sure Cuts A Lot”, I know I need to move toward a new cutter. Thank you for the opportunity to win. Please continue to live your wonderful life … I live it vicariously by reading your blog voraciously!!!!

513

564

My daughter is turning one this summer. We didn’t quite get her nursery done before she arrived, so little by little over the last year I’ve been adding some fun details and personality to her room. We did a cute bird theme, so I’d love to try some really cool paper cut-outs of birds and even attempt a custom mobile for her ceiling!

565
Robyn June 24, 2011 at 8:16 am

566
Lisa June 24, 2011 at 8:17 am

I’ve wanted one of these for SOOOO long! I would make many things, but the first thing I’d make is a tote bag to carry my golf gear. I’d cut out a really cute golfing graphic and iron it onto a tote bag!

How cute and chic would it be to put my last name on my items! Also, I told my daughter we would paint her room white this summer and add color using vinyl cutouts. I would love to surprise her when she gets home from sleep away camp. Love, love, love this.

It would be much prettier than the multiple notebook pages stuck up on her wall now.

Oh my gosh – I am moving this week and I would LOVE some wall art…or labels for my ‘stuff’ cuz I just KNOW I’m going to be oh so organized in the new place! (well I HOPE to be more organized!)

766
Erika P June 24, 2011 at 8:49 am

I think I’d try the vinyl lettering first. I’ve been looking to add lettering to my walls but just haven’t found the right sentiment yet. Plus…how cool that I get to choose my own fonts!!! I’m a font junkie so this would be perfect!

767
Mary H. June 24, 2011 at 8:49 am

I know exactly what I’d do first! Something vinyl for the blank wall in my kitchen that is soon going to be my children’s art gallery. Then I want to try glass etching. And then the tatoos. And then something for my front door. And then a dreaded onesie for my son(Unfortunately, my husband is a UoA fan.:( But at least I’ve got my two AU girls.;D ). And then…..

768
Emily Crall June 24, 2011 at 8:49 am

The first thing I’d try it the glass etching! Gosh, that would be a riot on my glass jar in the kitchen. Not that I can’t tell the difference between rice and spaghetti, but, heck, never hurts to go the extra measure…just in case I have a brain lapse someday. :)

769
Misty June 24, 2011 at 8:49 am

Rosemary O June 24, 2011 at 9:19 am

Hello K&A,
I am writing this comment to enter the Silhouette contest. Thank you for offering this opportunity to win a divine Silhouette! I am a speech therapist who works with special needs school students in an urban setting. Some of my students are autistic. Learning to speak meaningfully is one aspect of these students’ challenges. Using a tool such as Silhouette would enable me to help my students learn to read and spell their names, label items, use simple social phrases (i.e., Hello, How are you? Please and Thank you, Goodbye, etc), along with facilitating their emergent language skills. The Silhouette system would be a very creative way of using technology to improve and better people’s lives, especially communication handicapped children.
Thank you again for allowing me to offer my comments in this contest.

Karen June 24, 2011 at 9:23 am

Oh gosh, I don’t know what I would do first. I would probably spend hours downloading your fonts to play with on it for my scrapbooks. My boys need some vinyl dinosaurs for their bedroom! I can’t wait to get one. I love the idea of not being restricted by my Circuit fonts. Thank you so much for sharing!
Neat thing you might want to share for your scrapbookers http://volunteerguide.org/volunteer/fewhours/foster-care.htm
I haven’t done it yet, but I really want to.

939

940

I am helping a friend throw a baby shower this summer, so I think I might first try my hand at a few paper crafts (love the banners that are so popular right now!) but the glass etching . . . so can’t wait to try that!

941
Jan June 24, 2011 at 9:24 am

Kevin & Amanda,
If I won the first thing I would do is put our name or brand on the glass cabinet doors in our coffee bar area. Oh, the ideas I have…

942
Vanessa June 24, 2011 at 9:24 am

i have a lot of things planned. First off, I am going to try cutting vinyl with it. I have a cricut, it does a good job, but I can’t use SCAL with it anymore, which makes me upset. So if I won this, i will start cutting vinyl with my own design again.

And will definitely try the heat transfers too! :)

943

946
Patty Brett Kolbo June 24, 2011 at 9:24 am

I’ve always wanted to try this machine! This opens up so many possibilities. I would start with paper crafting, then move on to heat transfer, glass etching and vinyl. I’m thinking of the kids our oldest daughter is teaching this summer. They have very little, to say the least. I wonder what a coordinating gift package would look like for each of them (a hat or t-shirt with something written on it that makes them feel good about themselves, along with something monogrammed, of course, a matching tag and a tattoo to boot). I’d send you pix of the packages–promise (pick me, pick me) :-) Patty

947
MelissaO June 24, 2011 at 9:24 am

OOOOH! So many fun things to be tried . . . I would definitely start with the etched glass, though. What a cool way to personalize your potluck dishes :)

Thinking ahead toward the holidays, would like to etch some casserole dishes for gifts. It would also be great to make some kind of carrier to go with them.

1038
Nicole June 24, 2011 at 9:46 am

The first thing I would do is jump up and down and scream because of the adrenaline that would be going through my body and the realization that I finally got a silhouette. And then I would go crazy with projects starting with some cute vinyl sayings for my laundry room, it needs some TLC.

1039
meredith June 24, 2011 at 9:47 am

I would try the glass etching first! The name on the casserole dish is brilliant. Pyrex dishes all look the same when you set them down on a table for a potluck event.

I would totally try some of the heat transfer projects…. I would love to customize shirts for my children. As a matter of fact I could have saved myself a lot of time and trouble had I had one of these last week. It was the night before the last day of school and I was trying to write on the back of my daughters kindergarten t-shirt “1st Grade here I come!” w/the date with puffy paint. My 2 yr old came in right behind me and smeared it. It was a hopeless lost cause, but I tried to save it since it is a special memnto from her first year of school. NEXT year I will definately have the Iron-Heat transfer to prevent this from happening.
