Nothing beats a fresh loaf of banana bread sprinkled w/chocolate chips on top with a cup of warm milk on cold winter’s night. I really hope I win. I’ve never owned a mixer like this before. I would be able to make so many things with it. Bread, cookies, cakes, scones, pancakes, waffles & all the above. :D And I REALLY would make it all!! :D

I would make pumpkin bread for gifts for friends and family. My daughter grows and cans her own pumpkin and she is always glad to share with me. I have made pumpkin bread for many years. I use little mini loaf pans and people just love to receive it all gaily wrapped with my own little “Merry Christmas” card attached. I don’t have a big mixer but I make do with my little hand held. This mixer would be very much of a blessing to me this year. Merry Christmas and God bless you for all your fun stuff, Amanda.

My mom is 88yrs old. And I would help her make one of her famous rum cakes. She still makes it the old way of having to use a hand mixer in a bowl and it is hard for her to hold mixer and bowl at same time since she had a slight stroke about two years ago. So she doesn’t make as many as she used to. This would give her the incentive to her to bake again.

244

Cinnamon rolls! I traditionally make cinnamon rolls on a school snow day–kids go outside and sled, then come back in for cinnamon rolls and hot chocolate. If I win, I’ll be all set for the first snow storm. (Whenever there’s snow in the forecast, my children sleep with their pj’s inside out and a spoon under their pillow as the surefire method to bring on a school snow day. Maybe I should do that in hopes of winning the mixer!)

My Mom’s Tea Cookies. Mom is 82 years old and have been making them for over fifty years, no one can make them like her. She makes large batches of 30 dozens all for family and friends! I’m only making small batches of 10 dozens at a time but this Kitchen Aid mixer would sure come in handy when I can make large batches like Mom makes, so I too can give to My family and friends! Frosting…… Our daughters birthday is coming up and I always make homemade frosting. It gets hard to stir after a while so I would use the machine for that.

718
Jennifer November 11, 2011 at 8:34 am

Well, this may be bending the rules a little bit, but I would give this to my sister, who has wanted a stand mixer for years. So, TOGETHER the first thing we would make would probably be our favorite chocolate-chip cookies … and then, who knows?! I’m pretty sure it would be running all the time, though!

719
Janice November 11, 2011 at 8:36 am

I would make parmesan and thyme crackers!

720
rachel November 11, 2011 at 8:36 am

wow! your blog came up right after Heir To Blair in my google reader and she just posted a recipe for homeade whole wheat pizza dough that she makes in her mixer and i was like “mmmmm that sounds really good! i’ll have to try that!” and then, like magic, you are giving away a mixer! so i’ll say the first thing i would make is BA’s pizza dough! hoorah!

721
Camille K. November 11, 2011 at 8:36 am

Thanks kevin & amanda for this awesome Kitchen Aid Giveaway! I’m actually not entering this giveaway for myself as I already own a Kitchen Aid (insert blissful smile!). I’m entering this to win one for my mother who’s had the same mixer for almost 30 years and I have enjoyed everything she’s ever used it for. Well, sadly it has finally died. : ( I imagine the first thing she’d use it for is my grandmother’s (she passed away 12/2002) recipe for Homemade Coconut Cake (that is seriously SO moist you have to eat it from a bowl with a spoon!). Thanks again and I pray my mom wins!! : )

722
Jessica November 11, 2011 at 8:36 am

Ohhhh, Pretty!!
I would love to add this to my kitchen!!
I would start with cheesecake but my kids would screem for cupcakes first, and kids always win, so cupcakes it is!!! =)

723
Jessica T. November 11, 2011 at 8:36 am

The first thing I would make in my new Kitchenaid would be the Groom’s cake for my fiance and I’s wedding!

724
Charanne November 11, 2011 at 8:36 am

My family goes crazy over homemade marshmallows and cupcakes! With such a big mixer we could make enough treats to fill up the teenage boys bellys that seem to be so bottomless!

725
Amy November 11, 2011 at 8:36 am

Oh, how I would love to have this to bake my grandma’s famous molasses cookies to send to my siblings up north!

726

730
Karen Wolfe November 11, 2011 at 8:37 am

The first thing I’d make is bagels! I have been wanting to make bread for a long time but with only a small hand-held mixer, it’s impossible to beat up anything that is heavy or thick. I’m so excited about this giveaway!! Hope I win – though I will add I am quite unlucky when it comes to giveaways, door prizes, or awards! LOL I never, or rarely win anything! LOL – Karen

731
Leslie Traynham November 11, 2011 at 8:37 am

OMG, I have ALWAYS wanted a stand mixer, I love to bake, but unfortunately I always seem to do the biggest NO-NO in baking and overmix my batter, so while my intentions are good with baking my results sometimes are not. If I won this mixer the first thing I would make are my grandma’s sugar cookie recipe. Man how I love them she would make them all the time at christmas and then let us decorate, I would love to try my hand at those, my past attempts were not much to write home about, but maybe with the correct tools I would have better results! Fingers crossed on the 11-11-11 that I will be the lucky winner!

732
Lisa November 11, 2011 at 8:37 am

Oh my goodness, how do we manage to drool over a giant piece of metal? Beautiful!! I’d learn how to make bread – this baby inspires all kinds of new cooking projects. I love to bake, but have never attempted bread. Bet this mixer would help me…bigtime!

753
Lori G November 11, 2011 at 8:40 am

With the holidays coming up, I always make Fanny Farmer Fudge. (Fanny Farmer — now that’s a blast from the past!)

This is no quick-and-easy marshmallow creme and chocolate chips kind of fudge! It’s the “butter, sugar, cream, chocolate, cooked with a candy thermometer and then beat with a mixer for a full 30 minutes kinda fudge!”

Every year I stand there for what feels like an eternity, beating my fudge with my hand mixer (who knew a half-hour could feel so L-O-N-G?!). If I am lucky enough to win this gorgeous Kitchenaid mixer (red!) I could pour the ingredients in the super-roomy bowl, turn it on, and “Look Ma, no hands!”. 30 minutes later it would be a big bowl of ultra-creamy yumminess!

That is a beauty of a mixer! I have a recipe for Artisan Bread (my nine year old says “if I had a million billion dollars I’d give you all of it for a loaf of this bread”)… last time I tried to double the recipe and it was too much for my mixer to handle. I’d love to have a 7-qt. mixer that could mix it up with ease.

916

My mother made an amazing zuchinni bread, but she passed away in 1995. I was never able to find her recipe. Last year my best friend called me during the holidays and told me that she found my mother’s handwritten zucchini bread recipe that was given to her, by my mother, when we were teenagers. I was so excited! Although I have made it several times since, that would be the absolute first thing I would make, if I won the Kitchen Aid!

Keenan November 11, 2011 at 9:28 am

I’d make my husband some yummy chocolate cookies. Years ago, when we were first dating he said he’d get me a mixer for Christmas. I was terrified – we hadn’t been dating long and I CERTAINLY didn’t have enough money to reciprocate that kind of gift. He teased me for weeks that he was going to get me a mixer and he did – a beautiful ceramic bowl and a large spoon. He said I had to supply the energy. 14 years later it would be AWESOME to win this gorgeous mixer! Merry Christmas to me!

951

I have a list as long as my arm of Holiday goodies that I have got to get started on! The first would probably be my Brown Butter/Salted Caramel/Chocolate Chip cookies. I make a quadruple batch to satisfy all of the sweet eaters on my Christmas list and the batter does well when stored in the freezer before thawing and baking. So I always make this one first. Amy November 11, 2011 at 9:37 am

Liege Waffles for 50! Every weekend we have a waffle breakfast for our neighbors. These aren’t any ordinary waffles – these waffles are divine. We start with a brioche type dough and then add in Pearl Sugar – cook them in a hand turned cast iron Liege Waffle maker and top them with Pear & Prosciutto, Bacon and Brie, Bananas and Nutella, Lemon Panna Cotta & Blueberry compote, and much more. Then we all sit around and gab for 2 hours, catch up on the week and drink obscene amounts of coffee. Having a mixer would save HOURS of work. Making the dough is a 24 hour process. But, so worth it.

985
Jen November 11, 2011 at 9:37 am
