The Silhouette Portrait is a brand new personal craft cutter from Silhouette with an 8-inch cutting mat. It’s small in size, small on price (Yay!), and BIG on features! The Silhouette Portrait is a personal electronic cutting tool. Like a home printer, it plugs into your PC or Mac with a simple USB cable. However, instead of printing it uses a small blade to cut paper, cardstock, vinyl, fabric and more up to 8 inches wide and 10 feet long.

What I’ve always loved about the Silhouette compared to other craft cutters is that with the Silhouette, you can cut ANY font on your computer — no extra charge! There’s no need to buy countless alphabets or cartridges. With the Silhouette, you have a whole arsenal of fonts that you can start cutting right away, right on your computer. You can also create your own designs with the Silhouette Studio Designer Edition, or purchase individual designs from the extensive Silhouette Online Store. You don’t have to buy a whole cartridge for just one design! Most designs in the Silhouette Online Store are 99¢ or less. Plus there’s a new free shape each week that can be downloaded and kept permanently in your Silhouette Studio library.

The Silhouette Portrait weighs only 3.5 pounds, making it easily portable. The Portrait can be easily carried wherever you go!

There are so many fun things you can make with the Silhouette!

Have you seen these adorable aprons that Ashley from Make It and Love It made using the Silhouette, heat transfer material, and the Our Best Bite’s doodle font?

Silhouette Craft Cutter Giveaway

You can also cut vinyl for wall words & home decor projects…

Silhouette Craft Cutter Giveaway

You can etch glass for seriously fun, one of a kind serving dishes…

Use your Silhouette to cut fabric. Just iron Silhouette interfacing to your favorite fabric and send it through the machine on a Silhouette cutting mat.

With Silhouette sketch pens, the Silhouette can draw intricate patterns. Just pop out the blade and insert the color pen of your choice — even white and glitter pens! How awesome would this be for Christmas card envelopes with a gorgeous handwritten font?? :)

Silhouette Craft Cutter Giveaway

You can even make fake tattoos. Fun!

From magnet paper to temporary tattoo paper, wood paper to transparencies, the Silhouette can cut a wide variety of specialty media.

And be sure to check out Silhouette on Facebook and Pinterest for more great ideas!

if I won I’d make subway art. I’ve been dying to put a giant giant ((5′ x 1 1/2′)) piece of art up in my living room, I just haven’t found the time to copy, email, print, pick up, transfer/trace, and finish all those wonderful words.

  2. Jim

The first project I would complete is applying vinyl words and images to my kitchen containers for organized storage. Then on to my closets!

  3. Rebecca

Thanks for the great giveaway. I have wanted one of these forever…I’d start by making Christmas gifts for family. *fingers & toes crossed*

  4. Deby Coles

If I was the lucky winner, the first thing I would make would be a thank you card for my husband. After I had a stroke earlier this year at only age 43, he has been more than amazing, and today I am thankful for him.

  5. Cecilia Hoffman

I would love to win this! Being a Spanish preschool teacher provides endless possibilities. I can not always find craft activities. This would help a lot. ;-)

  6. Trinity B.

I’ve pinned literally hundreds of projects, and have an entire board dedicated to all things Silhouette. It would be a huge blessing to win one, and be able to make some of those things. First, however, I would make quilts for my girls, using my mom’s old clothing. When she died, I got the idea to turn her clothes into quilts for my children, so that they would have something to remember her by. One of my greatest fears is that when she died…less than 2 years ago….they were too young to really remember her. I’d like to keep that memory alive. Thanks for this chance to win!

  7. Elizabeth

Possibilities are endless. As a teacher I could use it endlessly and also as a scrapbooker. Would love to be able to cut things right when I need it instead of having to wait til I can order it or buy it.

  8. Rae

I’d likely start with a card just to get the hang of using the Portrait. Then, after I knew what I was doing I have a huge list of things I’d like to do with it.

  9. Michelle

First thing I would do is everything! I am due in 3 weeks so I would have to make some stuff for the baby, Christmas cards, soon vinyl for her room… oh man the possibilities are endless!

  10. Sabrina C

The first thing I would make is a custom wall decal for my master bedroom.
Something inspirational that would motivate me to get out of bed every morning :)

  11. Liz Ramirez

Do I really have to choose just 1 thing for my first project?! I would love to make a sign for my baby boy’s nursery out of a big piece of wood, paint it and distress it, and do some vinyl lettering that says ‘You are my sunshine.’ I sing the song to him daily so it would be really special!

  12. Sam N

I have a new niece and three nephews! I would be customizing everything. ‘Everything?’ you say and yes, yes I do mean everything. My niece needs vinyl lettering for her wall. My 1st nephew (the oldest) needs lettering of some kind on his clothing, I don’t know how one kid misplaces so much stuff. My 2 nephew is a little artist himself so I’d probably do some easy sew hand puppets and more projects like that with him. My 3 nephew is just being potty trained and I would love to work out some fun chart for prizes to help that along and also put some of his favorite characters on his big boy underwear so he’ll maybe be more inclined to wear them. Those are the very first things I’d do lol. I know alot of first there but there would be many more to follow the Silhouette just has endless possibilities.

  13. Tracy

I would love to start with t-shirts for my first grade students, then temp tattoos for my sister’s groomsmen (wedding next month) … and then some Christmas gifts. Oh, what fun we could have!

  14. Melinda Shapro

I can’t remember if I entered or not so sorry if this is a duplicate. I would do a vinyl project to decorate my washer and dryer.

  15. Rachael

The first thing I would do with it would be to cut out my boyfriend’s favorite song lyrics and Mod Podge them to a canvas for his birthday.

  16. Cara F.

Thank you for the opportunity to win! Oh, the possibilities! I would love to make personalized vinyl signs for family and friends for Christmas, but I am really LoViNg the Laundry Wall Sign in the photos above! LOL Happy Holidays and good luck to all!

  23. Heather

I wouldn’t know where to start! Probably some art for the kitchen . . . or capes for the kids . . . or t-shirts for the kids . . .

She has wanted one of these for a long time to make things for her classroom and her kids. Thanks. Happy Thanksgiving, and to Kevin as well!

  35. Lori East

The list is so long! Lots of Christmas gifts & projects for my sister’s upcoming wedding! Thanks for the giveaway & Happy Thanksgiving!! :)

  36. Sara R.

I’d probably do something like the aprons pictured above, only more along the lines of geeky t-shirts…..I’d also get a lot of use out of it, I think, making fun personalized infant onesies for the zillion friends I know having babies all the time. :-)

  37. Darcy Reagan

The first thing I would create would be (everything!) applique for sweatshirts for my nine children for Christmas. This thing would keep me busy for a very, very long time! I am so excited about possibly owning one, that I am checking out all of the fun possibilities on Pinterest, Facebook, and the Web. Thanks for the fun post and all the fun ideas!

But knowing me, I wouldn’t be able to make up my mind on what to make first. So then, I would have to make a few things and with it being the holidays coming up, I would probably make some cute tags, advent calendar, matching aprons for me and my cute girls, etc. Oh and probably some cute Christmas signs of some kind. :) So many choices!

I would love to win this Silhouette because my little boys and I LOVE to make greeting cards and other art projects for our family far away, place them in beautiful packages, and mail them off. Right now, we use a lot of scrapbook paper and paper cutters, but the three of us would be OVER THE MOON if we won a Silhouette because it means we could take our ‘cheer spreading’ projects to the very next level! We live roughly 700 miles away from our family (and I’m a single mom!) so it’s a very important part of every week for us to let people know we are thinking about them in a beautiful way. Our recipients would be so grateful and impressed with our new projects if we won! (Especially grandma!) Thanks so much for the opportunity & happy holidays!

Thanks for the chance to win! :) Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

  382. Barbara

It would be hard to decide. I’m not sure if I would make something for work first or about the dogs. I’m going with something about the dogs. Thanks for the giveaway.

  383. Natalie

I’ve always wanted a Silhouette! I would love to etch glass, I’ve always wanted to try that. It makes jars so pretty AND organized! Great giveaway, thanks!

  384. Hollie

I would love to make a monogrammed picture for my son’s room. He is all about fire fighters (trucks, hoses, ladders, etc.) and I think we could have a lot of fun making something he would love.

  385. Donna C.

Oooh- It would be easier to list what projects I wouldn’t do with the Silhouette! Most likely, though, my 3 sweet children would be the ones to benefit from a new Silhouette. I bet they each would have some “interesting” ideas for their bedrooms. Happy Thanksgiving, All!

  386. Paige

The first thing I would do is a wall vinyl for the new office my friends put together for me since my daughter has been sick. I would then make something personal for each friend that has helped me through this hard time.

  387. Julie Gade

The Silhouette is the only item I have on my “Wish” list! I would love to try the fabric cutting feature…how cool is that! Thanks Silhouette and Kevin & Amanda for the chance to win!!!

  388. Krys Kolivras Simmons

I love handcrafted stationery, so I think I’d start out by using the pens. But my mind is spinning with some fabulous home decor ideas!!!

  389. Kim

I love that this is so compact!

I would definitely use this to cut out names for my neices and nephews Christmas stockings I will be filling this year. We are going back to my hometown to spend Christmas for the first time in 6 years and I am so excited to see all of our extended family and hand the stockings to them in person! Thank you!

  390. Jaci

I think I would make some labels for my kitchen and maybe some subway art. I am in the process of painting my kitchen. Thanks, Amanda and Silhouette for the chance to win!!

  391. Jennifer Fredericks

I would make some vinyl decoration for my daughters’ dance rolling makeup box. The ones on there now were made from mod-podged printed cardstock and I need to class it up a bit! Thanks for the chance to win, the Portrait is awesome!

  392. Francesca

I do not know if you can participate from Italy, but the first thing I would do would make silhouette on cardboard decorations for my cookies! ^_^

  393. Debi H.

I don’t where I would start – probably with vinyl wall art for my kiddos rooms & etch glass projects for teacher Christmas gifts….and of course our family Christmas cards!

  394. Sara

Oooooh!! I’d etch some drinking glasses for my triplets so that I wouldn’t be doing dishes allllll day long. :) Happy Thanksgiving!

  395. Jeanne

Oh my gosh–so many GREAT idea’s–but I’m thinking etched baking dishes for my three daughters (and a few others) would be fabulous!

  396. Christy Q

So cool – I did not know they made a smaller version. This fits exactly what I have been looking for so I will definitely be back on Friday to see what the code is, thanks to Silhouette! Unless, I were the lucky one to win. :) The very first thing I would make with the Silhouette Portrait would be labels for my pantry as I want to “pretti-fy” it. :)

Thanks for the chance to enter!!

  397. Kimberly

It is such a tough decision. I would want to do all of it. But, I think it would be vinyl. I would make something special for each of my kids.

  398. Pam

Hi. The Silhouette looks like so much fun. The first think I would do with it would be to use it to make an alphabet quilt for a friend who is expecting a baby. So much easier than hand-cutting out all those letter! Very exciting to have the chance to win !!! Thanks.

  399. Dana

I’d make something for my daughter. I’ve seen Olivia (Nick Jr) items made using the Silhouette and I’ve been dying to make something for her because she is crazy about Olivia.

  400. Tina Capps

The first thing I would make if I won would be Christmas cards. I’ve always wanted to be a crafty person, but am artistically challenged. I believe this would help me to be the crafty person I’ve always aspired to be.

  401. Debbie

I would start working on all the cutouts and invitations for my grandson’s 1st birthday party in January…. where has the year gone!!!

  402. amy kuti

I think I would label my classroom…the kids would love it! It would make the little gifts I give the kids nicer as well…I could label the bags, as well! Love it! Love u! Amy :)

  403. Sommar

I would make custom canisters for my kitchen. I haven’t been able to find ones I truly like. Also, Christmas is coming so this will help with some of my Chritmas projects! :-)

  404. Georgia Handy

I want to jazz up my trash can with vinyl lettering and designs! Seriously those big green monster trash cans by the curb needs some TLC!

  405. Jenn Reiff

Where to start?! I think the first thing would be some glass etching – Christmas gifts for pretty much everyone on my list!! Vinyl labeling would be next…

  406. Diana

Thank you so much for the give away!!!! I have been looking at the Silhouette products for awhile. Even if I don’t win, I can’t wait to see the discounts on Friday!
The first thing I would make with my Silhouette is cutie letters for my scrapbooking pages and my classroom! I love that I can use the fonts on my computer!!!!!
    Thanks again! :)

  407. Amy

I would buy the S.S. Designer Edition software and make some fun Christmas gifts using my own designs! Love the idea of etching bakeware for all of my foodie friends, too cute!

  408. Valerie

Ooooooooooh, the many possibilities I would have! I would probably make some adorable Christmas pillows for the couch, or something adorable on our white pillow cases! Pick me, pick me! This is exactly what I wanted for Christmas! Thank you so much!

  409. Jeanie

    Hi Amanda!

Hmmm, I would probably try and do something with vinyl lettering with the Portrait for my daughter’s room. The Silhouette sounds awesome for the tiny details!

Thanks for letting us know about the awesome giveaway!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving in your new home!
    Jeanie

  410. Donna E.

I will definitely try out all those wonderful cutting files I see everywhere and would add those fun and intricate details for any projects!

  411. Jess

I’ve been wanting to pretty-up my pantry – I’d love to make labels for all my flour bins and things! I’m so glad they came out with this smaller version – definitely great for those of us who haven’t bitten the bullet on the big guy!

  412. Sally

I would try cutting thin chipboard to layer in a monogram design then paint it and use in wreath design that I am giving for a house warming gift.

  413. ellen

First things first…..I have been seeing projects all over the web done with the vinyl….so, let’s just say if it isn’t vinylized….it will be if I win this!!!!

  414. Kelsii weber

Someone was. Just telling me how much I needed this machine for the cupcake decorating kits I make. I make little toppers out of cardstock and cut each out by hand. That’s the first thing I’d make and it’d probably make it so much more fun and easy!

  415. ava

oh, oh! what to make?! We’ve a looney tunes-themed party coming up soon…so i’ll be making all sorts of decor and centerpieces with it, and personalized tshirts too.

  416. Maria

I like making lounge pants so I would make patters than I can patch on the pants that can describe the person I am making it for or that would describe me.

  417. Laura M.

I’d make some vinyl wall art, stencils for etching glass, Christmas cards, birthday party invitations, distinctive packaging for my sister’s jewelry business . . . . . . I could go on and on.

  418. Heather K Miller

I would love to make an advent calendar for my children, aprons for them for Christmas and some vinyl decorations on my wall!

  419. Janice Sherlock

I would love to experiment with this cool machine. The first thing I would attempt would be personalized Christmas gifts by etching on glass. Everything looked so cool and doable!!!

  420. Laurie Ann

I would definitely use the Silhouette to create a Variety of Elements for the Family Tree Wall I am preparing to add to my office wall. The wall is painted, ready and waiting…Smiles…
Thank You For the Opportunity to Win!
Wishing You a Blessed Thanksgiving, Filled With Love, Joy and Laughter!
    Hugs From Laurie

  421. Julianne

Thx for the give away! I’ve been circling and wanting a Silhouette for years. I’m ready to win, or pull the trigger and buy if I’m not lucky enough!

    Thanks again!

  422. Sally Iverson

What a fantastic giveaway !! Would love to win and make an outdoor sign for our house , using a pretty font , in PURPLE vinyl !

  423. Susan McLandrich

Would so love to win this! The first thing I would make would be those lovely cutout scrapbook titles. Love them and just not possible by hand! Thx for the chance.

  424. Amy

I LOVE the idea if doing cool fonts on my Christmas cards! Then I’d move on to vinyl phrases for each of the kids rooms. Plus, I would have a design done on some embroidery fabric if possible and then embroider it!

  425. Francisca S

I’ll be making lots of Christmas cards with the Silhouette… in probably less than half the time it would take me normally!
