The Silhouette Portrait is a brand new personal craft cutter from Silhouette with an 8-inch cutting mat. It’s small in size, small on price (Yay!), and BIG on features! The Silhouette Portrait is a personal electronic cutting tool. Like a home printer, it plugs into your PC or Mac with a simple USB cable. However, instead of printing it uses a small blade to cut paper, cardstock, vinyl, fabric and more up to 8 inches wide and 10 feet long.

What I’ve always loved about the Silhouette compared to other craft cutters is that with the Silhouette, you can cut ANY font on your computer — no extra charge! There’s no need to buy countless alphabets or cartridges. With the Silhouette, you have a whole arsenal of fonts that you can start cutting right away, right on your computer. You can also create your own designs with the Silhouette Studio Designer Edition, or purchase individual designs from the extensive Silhouette Online Store. You don’t have to buy a whole cartridge for just one design! Most designs in the Silhouette Online Store are 99¢ or less. Plus there’s a new free shape each week that can be downloaded and kept permanently in your Silhouette Studio library.

The Silhouette Portrait weighs only 3.5 pounds, making it easily portable. The Portrait can be easily carried wherever you go!

There are so many fun things you can make with the Silhouette!

Have you seen these adorable aprons that Ashley from Make It and Love It made using the Silhouette, heat transfer material, and the Our Best Bite’s doodle font?

Silhouette Craft Cutter Giveaway

You can also cut vinyl for wall words & home decor projects…

Silhouette Craft Cutter Giveaway

You can etch glass for seriously fun, one of a kind serving dishes…

Use your Silhouette to cut fabric. Just iron Silhouette interfacing to your favorite fabric and send it through the machine on a Silhouette cutting mat.

With Silhouette sketch pens, the Silhouette can draw intricate patterns. Just pop out the blade and insert the color pen of your choice — even white and glitter pens! How awesome would this be for Christmas card envelopes with a gorgeous handwritten font?? :)

Silhouette Craft Cutter Giveaway

You can even make fake tattoos. Fun!

From magnet paper to temporary tattoo paper, wood paper to transparencies, the Silhouette can cut a wide variety of specialty media.

And be sure to check out Silhouette on Facebook and Pinterest for more great ideas!

if I won I’d make subway art. I’ve been dying to put a giant giant ((5′ x 1 1/2′)) piece of art up in my living room, I just haven’t found the time to copy, email, print, pick up, transfer/trace, and finish all those wonderful words.

  2. Jim

The first project I would complete is applying vinyl words and images to my kitchen containers for organized storage. Then on to my closets!

  3. Rebecca

Thanks for the great giveaway. I have wanted one of these forever…I’d start by making Christmas gifts for family. *fingers & toes crossed*

  4. Deby Coles

If I was the lucky winner, the first thing I would make would be a thank you card for my husband. After I had a stroke earlier this year at only age 43, he has been more than amazing, and today I am thankful for him.

  5. Cecilia Hoffman

I would love to win this! Being a Spanish preschool teacher provides endless possibilities. I can not always find craft activities. This would help a lot. ;-)

  6. Trinity B.

I’ve pinned literally hundreds of projects, and have an entire board dedicated to all things Silhouette. It would be a huge blessing to win one, and be able to make some of those things. First, however, I would make quilts for my girls, using my mom’s old clothing. When she died, I got the idea to turn her clothes into quilts for my children, so that they would have something to remember her by. One of my greatest fears is that when she died…less than 2 years ago….they were too young to really remember her. I’d like to keep that memory alive. Thanks for this chance to win!

  7. Elizabeth

Possibilities are endless. As a teacher I could use it endlessly and also as a scrapbooker. Would love to be able to cut things right when I need it instead of having to wait til I can order it or buy it.

  8. Rae

I’d likely start with a card just to get the hang of using the Portrait. Then, after I knew what I was doing I have a huge list of things I’d like to do with it.

  9. Michelle

First thing I would do is everything! I am due in 3 weeks so I would have to make some stuff for the baby, Christmas cards, soon vinyl for her room… oh man the possibilities are endless!

  10. Sabrina C

The first thing I would make is a custom wall decal for my master bedroom.
Something inspirational that would motivate me to get out of bed every morning :)

  11. Liz Ramirez

Do I really have to choose just 1 thing for my first project?! I would love to make a sign for my baby boy’s nursery out of a big piece of wood, paint it and distress it, and do some vinyl lettering that says ‘You are my sunshine.’ I sing the song to him daily so it would be really special!

  12. Sam N

I have a new niece and three nephews! I would be customizing everything. ‘Everything?’ you say and yes, yes I do mean everything. My niece needs vinyl lettering for her wall. My 1st nephew (the oldest) needs lettering of some kind on his clothing, I don’t know how one kid misplaces so much stuff. My 2 nephew is a little artist himself so I’d probably do some easy sew hand puppets and more projects like that with him. My 3 nephew is just being potty trained and I would love to work out some fun chart for prizes to help that along and also put some of his favorite characters on his big boy underwear so he’ll maybe be more inclined to wear them. Those are the very first things I’d do lol. I know alot of first there but there would be many more to follow the Silhouette just has endless possibilities.

  13. Tracy

I would love to start with t-shirts for my first grade students, then temp tattoos for my sister’s groomsmen (wedding next month) … and then some Christmas gifts. Oh, what fun we could have!

  14. Melinda Shapro

I can’t remember if I entered or not so sorry if this is a duplicate. I would do a vinyl project to decorate my washer and dryer.

  15. Rachael

The first thing I would do with it would be to cut out my boyfriend’s favorite song lyrics and Mod Podge them to a canvas for his birthday.

  16. Cara F.

Thank you for the opportunity to win! Oh, the possibilities! I would love to make personalized vinyl signs for family and friends for Christmas, but I am really LoViNg the Laundry Wall Sign in the photos above! LOL Happy Holidays and good luck to all!

  17. T_M

We have been wanting this for SOOO long and will use to to cheer people up and make things for them. Cards, wrappers, wall art, stationary, pop-up pictures and more.

  22. Kacie D.

Thanks for the giveaway! I love the etching on the flour and sugar jars. I just put tape on the bottom of some of mine with labels for the different types of flour I have (all purpose, self-rising, bread, and cake). So, this would definitely be a step up!

  23. Heather

I wouldn’t know where to start! Probably some art for the kitchen . . . or capes for the kids . . . or t-shirts for the kids . . .

  24. grace

  25. Jen A.

The first thing I would do is etch all of my glass baking dishes! What a great way to personalize them and make sure they get back to you after potlucks!

  26. bridgett

  27. Candace Paquin

I’d make some fun christmas gifts first, but the possibilites are endless. I’d probably redesign my packaging for my photography business as well! thanks for the chance to win this incredible machine!

  34. Esther T.

The first thing I would do is present it to my wonderful daughter. She is teaching 3rd grade special needs children for the first time, and I’m so proud of her. She has wanted one of these for a long time to make things for her classroom and her kids. Thanks. Happy Thanksgiving, and to Kevin as well!

  35. Lori East

The list is so long! Lots of Christmas gifts & projects for my sister’s upcoming wedding! Thanks for the giveaway & Happy Thanksgiving!! :)

  36. Sara R.

I’d probably do something like the aprons pictured above, only more along the lines of geeky t-shirts…..I’d also get a lot of use out of it, I think, making fun personalized infant onesies for the zillion friends I know having babies all the time. :-)

  37. Darcy Reagan

The first thing I would create would be (everything!) applique for sweatshirts for my nine children for Christmas. This thing would keep me busy for a very, very long time! I am so excited about possibly owning one, that I am checking out all of the fun possibilities on Pinterest, Facebook, and the Web. Thanks for the fun post and all the fun ideas!

  38. Sarina

  39. Michelle ROssignol

  40. Lisa

I would first want to see what I can make with this machine and then I would have to decide from there what I would make first. But knowing me, I wouldn’t be able to make up my mind on what to make first. So then, I would have to make a few things and with it being the holidays coming up, I would probably make some cute tags, advent calendar, matching aprons for me and my cute girls, etc. Oh and probably some cute Christmas signs of some kind. :) So many choices!

  41. Shirley Miller

The first thing I would make is Christmas gifts for everyone on my first grade team at Bluebonnet Elementary. They all work so hard teaching everyday, they deserve it!

Now that he is back, i would love to make all the wonderful Christmas decorations to make our house feel more like a home this holiday!

  44. Julia

I would either make thank you cards or vinyl letters (that go on the wall I think). I want to write, “Not everyone who wanders is lost”

  45. Leslie Young

There is a Christmas sign that I am dying to make to hang above my piano. That would probably be my first project, but I definitely have many many other ideas that I could use a Silhouette for.
