I take lots and lots of people shots, mostly my two girls. My older one is perfectly posed in every shot and I can get 50 great pics in a matter of seconds. The little one is fast as lightning and I have maybe 10 decent pictures of her total. It would be nice to edit out the blurs! :) hahah

Thanks K & A!

50
Maureen September 8, 2010 at 8:29 am

People; my two boys are the perfect subjects!

51
Marissa September 8, 2010 at 8:31 am

I love to take pictures of people. I have taken some amazing shot during prom season, but have struggled with what photo editing software to use. I will definately look into the Topaz software. I am hoping to find a software that if I was shoting my daughter and she was holding a flower I could make the picture black and white but make the flower the brightest of colors. This is soooooo exciting!

52

75
Kelli Dietrich September 8, 2010 at 8:41 am

WOW what an awesome package! I have never heard of it before and think that it is AMAZING! I have followed your blog for a few months now and absolutely LOVE it! I think my all time favorite photography work is people. I don’t do the normal portraiture type photography but like more “unusual” shots. For example, a baby that plops their foot in their birthday cake, a toddler walking away down a nature path, etc. However, I have been getting into some nature photography lately and absolutely LOVE working with different lighting effects at different times of the day.

Thanks for sharing your blog with the world!
Have a great day!

76
Ronda September 8, 2010 at 8:42 am

Landscapes are beautiful, pets are adorable, but nothing compares to capturing the expressions of people (especially children)! Priceless!

77
Jodie Smith September 8, 2010 at 8:42 am

I like to take pics of my kids & my cakes! This program would be so awesome, it would help me take more professional looking pics of my cakes for my cake business! :)

78
Kim Bell September 8, 2010 at 8:42 am

My son and his pug Milo are my favorite subjects, but I live so close to the Adirondack Mountains, that I really want to get more photos of the beautiful scenery there. I got a new Canon SLR camera this past Christmas and have not used it to its potential yet. P.S. I love your blog!!

79
Cara September 8, 2010 at 8:43 am

My three-month-old, Hudson, is the subject of most of my photos lately, but I do love scenery shots and up close foodie shots too!

85

What’s your favorite photography subject? Do you prefer scenery?

Vintage, anything girly, playing dress up! I enjoy photographing baby girls to classy ladies; portraits that capture the fun female spirit, and the personality of that individual.

I love using nature and the environment as my backdrop, using the sun and clouds as my lighting.

I love to hike too, be adventurous! Taking pictures of flowers, waterfalls, trees, and mountains.

“A mixture of High Fashion and the Great Outdoors!” -Michelle

86

87
Andrea September 8, 2010 at 8:44 am

88

Love to take candid shots of people and close ups of plants/flowers. I have only had my Canon Rebel T1i for a month. It is my first SLR. Just got a 60 mm macro lens. So much fun to take pictures with this camera. Anxious to learn all that this camera can do and then enhance those photos with tools like Topaz.

91
amanda September 8, 2010 at 8:45 am

Well, considering that I own an Old Time Photography studio, one would assume that my favorite subject to photograph is people… but it’s not. Aside from my beautiful baby, that is :) I LOVE taking photos of landscapes… travel photography is my absolute favorite. I’m such a shutterbug when I travel… and I love it!

92
Vanessa September 8, 2010 at 8:45 am

My dogs are my favorite subjects to photograph. Not only are they always available for photo shoots, but it’s pretty much impossible to take a bad photo of an adorable little puppy.

102
Becky September 8, 2010 at 8:48 am

I try to remember to capture my family’s life-those times that are special occasions and those that are ordinary but become extraordinary in our memories. This looks like a wonderful set of software tools!

103
Beth Trestrail September 8, 2010 at 8:26 pm

My favorite subjects are people, closely followed by flowers, and last but not least, my cats. But I’ve been known to take pictures of red peppers, trees, and clouds. And whatever else wanders into my focus! Salivating to try out this software.

104
Ali September 8, 2010 at 8:48 am

This is amazing! How awesome! I would love this because this is exactly what I have been looking for. I do photography as a hobby. I think I like doing portraits the best because I love catching people and who they are in the image, but lately I have been playing with scenery and buildings and it is fun trying a new medium. Trying to capture something in a different way then what you see everytime you pass by it.

BTW – thanks for this site! I love reading your posts!

105
Jeanna September 8, 2010 at 8:49 am

Oh, put me in the runnings! I am so sick of editing with my old photoshop! I love pictures of family and water! I can’t help but take pictures with natural water landscapes in them! IE: why I LOVE all your kayaking trips!

106
April September 8, 2010 at 8:49 am

107
Krys Kolivras September 8, 2010 at 8:50 am

My favorite photography subject is anything from in one of our many gardens. I love photographing the veggies we harvest and the tasty dishes we make with them. I also enjoy using the macro setting for stunning close-ups of my flowers!

Family and my puppies are my favorite subjects, along with vacation shots.

109
Leah September 8, 2010 at 8:50 am

As much as I love people, I prefer to photograph buildings, scenery and the change of the seasons. For me, there’s nothing like looking at life through a lens. I have a couple of autoimmune diseases so wandering about camera pressed to nose enables me to forget about pain and fatigue, and I find myself once again with that magical childlike curiosity for life.

110
Annette Bowers September 8, 2010 at 8:51 am

Hi Amanda! The pics I like to shoot the most are of flowers and trees in the winter. I just love seeing the ice on the branches.

111
Kimberly A. September 8, 2010 at 8:51 am

My favorite photography “subject” is nature. I can take my time to get the shot just right and nothing is ever the same. What a photograph most often is my family. Love them – love the memories!

Hi Amanda … TYFS the information on Topaz tools. I’d never even heard about it prior, and it would definitely be an asset to my world! I shoot with a Nikon D80, which I love. My favorite subjects are nature (particularly flowers), travel, and happy occasions (babies, weddings). I also snap my dogs Morgan and Sadie but those little suckers MOVE so quickly that it looks like TOPAZ would help edit and highlight those photos well. Again, I appreciate all the work of your website. You’re the BEST!

148
Yeisha Marie September 8, 2010 at 8:57 am

My favorite thing to photograph isn’t necessarily a subject but I try my best to capture the moment. Wether it be the random silliness of my kids, the wow factor of something in nature or just a “blah” day in the house. Looking back thru the albums years after gives it so much meaning!

149
Sarah September 8, 2010 at 8:57 am

150

177
Tracy Eau Claire September 8, 2010 at 9:03 am

Wow – what a great giveaway. – thanks, Amanda!

It’s uber-hard to pick a fave, so I’ll have to slightly break the rules and say that I love taking my 70-300mm out to sneak up on some nature — I live in AZ, so spectacular nature scenes are abundant here and I also love my 50mm to capture the light sparkling in my 2 year old little guy’s eyes!

Thanks again, Amanda – I don’t know if I even knew about these plug-ins before seeing them here. Love what you did to your Chicago pic.

178
Lydia September 8, 2010 at 9:03 am

I have to say my fav photo subjects are pets. They are so adorable and some of the faces they make. They express so much in their eyes and slight head tilts. So humanlike :) But your photos of food are really tempting too. Makes my mouth water. Yummo! :)

I’m just starting out with photography. Just got my first DSLR earlier this year. So far my favorite subjects are my babies of course, but we live out in the boonies so I really love getting pictures of all of the barns, cornfields, silos, old abandoned houses and all! Especially when the sun is just going down. It is so beautiful!

187
Connie Tyger September 8, 2010 at 9:06 am

I am just a photographic nut as my friends would say. I always have a camera with me. Always! My favorite subjects are nature and flowers. Events would be next. But I just love taking photos and scrapping them. I love how the Tapax Plugins fixed your photo to pop with vibrant colors. I would love to have them.

188

This is super exciting. I hope I’m the winner. My photography style leans towards portrait, specifically individuals with special needs. It’s amazing how you can capture their true personalities through a photo. I think if I won the Topaz Lab Plugins, I would experiment more with nature and architecture. Good luck everybody!!

196
RaChelle September 8, 2010 at 9:07 am

EVERYTHING! I think I have a little bit of an obsession (my husband’s words). It is one of my very favorite things to do. I have always been the one with a camera in my hand and since I have 5 children, I always have plenty of opportunities. I mostly shoot portraits and casual people shots, but am getting more into scenery and shooting just anything that looks cool. Thanks to sites like yours I’m constantly getting new inspiration to broaden my work.

197
Krystle September 8, 2010 at 9:07 am

I love to photograph my silly playful son and our 2 cats and dog. They always bring a smile to my face no matter what kind of day I am having. My son realized to pose before he was even a year old because I was always snapping photos of him! I would love to try to do some photo editing and these tools look awesome. Thanks for the give away offer!!!

I guess if I spelled Topaz right I might have a better chance of winning. Right! Sorry for the typo. We call that a senior moment or just plain not with it today. I still love nature and flowers.

207
Christina September 8, 2010 at 9:09 am

I love to take pictures of anything, especially fun places that the hubby and I go!!

208
Becca September 8, 2010 at 9:09 am

I do a lot of nature photography, but my real passion is capturing the unusual angle of modern architecture or the unexpected beauty of ruined buildings and forgotten structures. There’s just something about those images that moves me.

Tee

Amanda –

I live in Chicago and don’t have great pictures like you have!!
My favorite pictures are of my son’s baseball team. I take hundreds of pics at every game, edit them individually and send them out to all the families on the team. No one brings their camera to the games anymore! I love sharing and making memories for all the families!
Topaz would be an awesome addition to my photo editing!!!
Thanks for the great website!!

237
April September 8, 2010 at 9:18 am

239
Misha McAllister September 8, 2010 at 9:20 am

My favorite subject hands down are people. I love “unposed” pictures. That is when you get the best facial expressions, and the story really gets told. I have some really great shots of people that just make me smile, because they are enjoying the moment, and not “focused” on the camera clicks. (pardon the pun)

240
Victoria September 8, 2010 at 9:20 am

Never heard of this plug-in-sounds pretty neat & useful for my portrait photography :) Thanks for the giveaway!

I like to photograph nature. Usually anything outdoors gives the best lighting to work with. I am intimidated by the idea of photographing people. So many of my friends take incredible portrait and candid photos and I don’t think mine would compare, but maybe some day I’ll rise above that and learn some tricks to get great photos in that area as well.

I love to photograph just about anything!!! Right now I am taking loads of pictures of my two teenage sons playing for their high school soccer team. I love to look for textures in nature and in things built by mankind. A guide at a place I visited this summer kind of made fun of me as I sat on the ground taking pictures of some really neat iron work in a bench . . .”look, she’s taking a picture of that bench!” he announced. I don’t really care what people think of me as I shoot my camera . . . I love the “hunt” and love the results!

I’m a sucker for landscapes. Whenever I travel anywhere I always have to remind myself to take pictures of people – not just the scenery. I take so many pictures that my husband and I decided that after every trip we’ll choose one photograph that really stands out, print it in 8×10, frame it, and hang it on the wall. We’re still working on it, but it’s been a fun project.

532
Sherry September 8, 2010 at 11:13 am

Louisiana Tara September 8, 2010 at 11:36 am

WOW, Amanda, awesome giveaway!

My favorite subject is my little girl, naturally. :)

However, my favorite shooting activity is sports, specifically football. I was the school photographer my senior year in high school (12 years ago… gulp) and I was trained by a professional photographer on an ancient SLR film camera. My first experiences with aperture, shutter speed, ISO, etc. was from the sidelines! Talk about intimidating! But I LOVED it. Now any time we go to sporting events I take the camera and the big lens. Last year we went to a Saints game and I caught Drew Brees letting go of a pass and Jeremy Shockey catching a pass in his fingertips. It’s exhilarating to get a great shot! (As I’m sure you well know!) :)

580

Wow, I loved your Chicago photo. I have been saving some money so I can buy DSLR Nikon camera, and when I finally bought it I felt like I am the happiest girl in the world. I like to capture peoples emotions. Sometimes I make my friends laugh and capture their happy faces, or ask my brother to make a stupid face, or just go outside of my house and capture every face on my way. And when I get back home, I like to study every photo in details. And everytime it proves that there is nothing more beautiful and complex than human’s face.

675
Kim Mays September 8, 2010 at 12:29 pm

I stumbled upon your website and I am a big fan. I love your scrapbooking ideas and recipes. I stink at photography that is why I need to win this software. Your picture turned out amazing. My favorite thing to photograph is outdoor scenery, children, animals, and traveling. Ok I love to photograph anything but i stink at the techniques. It is like my fingers are not that fast on the shutter or something. i desperately need to take a photography class. Whenever taking pictures of children, i continuously get the back of their heads. It is a big joke around my house. i am always taking pictures but…….not alot of them come out pretty. :)

My favourite kinds of photography don’t really go together.. possibly even the opposite ends of the photography spectrum. I absolutely love to take motorsport photogrphs, particularly motorbikes racing. My other passion is macro photography, to be able to capture something that you would probably normally walk past in the garden without a second glance, really opens your eyes to a whole new world.

There seems to be so many subjects to choose from, but I guess for me it would have to be the expression of people in general. I feel so connected when I capture raw emotion in it’s purest form. A teardrop, a smile, or just a hug is priceless.

784

I love taking photographs after dark, well actually, after light! :)

There are surprises in night photography, your eyes don’t see as good in the dark as film does, or as a digital sensor does. With a correct exposure things that seemed bland and hiding in the dark, all of a sudden can come alive like magic. I especially like shooting scenes with the moon in them.

okay – I know I’m supposed to say “my kids”…and I do love photographing them. But lately it’s been easier and more fun to photograph our two dogs. Big fluffy golden retrievers – have a smile for me every second of the day and NEVER flash me a “photo snarl” like the kids do! LOL

I just returned from a spending a few days in Grand Teton National Park. I managed to capture some very nice early morning and late evening images of the Tetons. I shoot landscape, wildlife, old cars, family and teen portraits. The final process, after CS5 tweaks, is to run through Topaz Adjust to enhance the colors and/or achieve another affect with the many tools in Adjust. I am venturing into the low light imagery and have considered purchasing Topaz DeNoise so I can clean up the noise. I have no favorite..I shoot it all…capture the moment. Would be nice to have the complete Topaz Labs Plugin Bundle. Thanks for the opportunity

Amanda, Your article on Photography was great. I bought the book you recommended. It has been a great resource. Thanks so much for all your tips. I am addicted to my photographs. My latest adventure was printed on metal paper and turned out wonderful. Thanks again.

I have to say that the candid moments of life are most precious to me. So therefore it really could be anything. People, children, babies, even food that looks so mouth watering just sitting there before your very eyes.. If thats the case I like to snap a picture of it and try and re create it at home. Good example would be of the caramel apples they make at the fair stands when they come out fresh and the smell is lingering in the air its so mouthwatering but would look nice in a picture too! So for me its a little bit of this and a little bit of that. If I had to choose an absolute down to the “T” it would have to be children only because they are endlessly smiling and always happy and up to no good. At least mine are :)

I love architecture! Paris for example has the most wonderful buildings with such wonderful detailing – iron railings, gargoyles etc. They really inspire me. Thanks for a great comp

Being that Sept 9 is my birthday (no kidding) I don’t want to put any pressure on you to pick a winner. :)

I am an advanced amateur looking to expand my talents and begin doing this for more than a hobby. I am a portrait photographer who likes to get out and take pictures of almost anything.

Let me know where to pick up my birthday present… :)

I *love* photographing people…portraits are my favorite. Especially children. I don’t have any of my own, so I satisfy myself by taking photos of my niece and nephew. :)

Amanda, your SOOC shot was amazing, with or without refinement! But the colors sure do pop after the plu-in. Such a gorgeous picture! I sure love landscapes (especially untouched landscapes), but for me, wildlife photography beats that hands-down. Which must be why I’m always so in love (& awe) with your shots of Miley & Howie! :) Thanks for the chance to win!

My favorite subject are my two girls, one 5yrs and one 4yrs. They are always making me laugh with the unpredictable things they do :) I have a little one on the way and can’t wait to take lots of photos of him too. This software looks awesome!
