Max Brenner and The Gansevoort Hotel

Max Brenner and The Gansevoort Hotel | Union Square, NYC

When I was in New York for the Hellmann’s Chicken Challenge, we stayed at the Gansevoort Hotel on Park Avenue, near Union Square.

The Gansevoort was a beautiful hotel — ultra sleek and modern. I got a kick out of these suggestive pink ladies above my bed!

And the suggestive book on the cafe table by the window. Oh la la. I loved the bright pink and green accents with the grey walls here.

How cool was this sink? You could bathe a couple of cute little babies in here.

Fun chandelier.

I loved the striped walls here with the gallery-style artwork!

This was the view from my room on the 18th floor. We were on the highest guest floor, with two penthouses above us.

And guess who was staying at the penthouse that weekend? Kim & Kourtney Kardashian. There were paparazzi camped outside the hotel constantly! Other guests of the hotel included Sissy Biggers, one of the competitors in the Chicken Challenge, and David Bromstad, winner of Design Star and host of Color Splash on HGTV. We saw him at brunch on Tuesday morning at the table right next to us. I never saw the Kardashian sisters, but one of the other bloggers in our group saw them and got a photo!

I really enjoyed the Union Square location of the hotel, it was a nice change from Times Square where we usually stay. The best part about the location was that it was walking distance to Max Brenner!

On Sunday morning Shaina and I met up with Amber for brunch there.

Max Brenner was such a fun restaurant. We ended up going twice in one day! This is probably one of the most fun dining experiences I’ve ever had.

First they have a “chocolate bar” where you can come in and order chocolate treats to go. For brunch they had pearl sugar waffles with plenty of fun and extravagant toppings.

Need a chocolate boost? How about a shot of chocolate!

My brunch came with a sweet sugared biscuit with chocolate drizzle. So yum!

And the dessert menu — insane! We tried the Profiteroles Fondue with a vanilla bean cream filling, banana chocolate fudge, and chocolate dipping sauces.

These eggrolls were stuffed with chocolate fudge and sea salt caramel — oh yah!

This chocolate pizza was my favorite, hands down! Melty chocolate, gooey marshmallows, and to-die-for peanut butter sauce all topped with perfectly crunchy hazelnut bits. Glorious!

If you’re ever in the area, definitely check out Max Brenner, as well as City Bakery (get the pretzel croissant and chocolate chip cookie for sure!) and Baked By Melissa for the most delicious mini cupcakes ever. They’re all within walking distance of fun and bustling Union Square.

Have a great weekend!

I love New York, The Gansevoort {I hope you guys got a hoot out of the hip and happening bar upstairs!}, the Kardashians, and this post. So fun!

Hi! I’ve recently discovered all the wonderful blogs on the internet and especially love fonts! I don’t do a lot with them but personal stuff and I attempt to be crafty and love to cook. I made the Chipotle-Lime-Crusted Chicken. I went on the Hellman’s site and based on the comments associated with the recipe, I added crushed garlic, pounded the breasts to 1/2 inch and sprinkled with fresh cilantro. We tried dipping the chicken in Wholly Spicey Guacomole and fresh salsa, yum!!!

I am also an Auburn alum, graduation in 1978. As far as I know our homes is the only one in Omaha, NE proudly displaying an Auburn flag! If you haven’t been here before, according to most everyone here including the newspaper, there is only ONE college football team, The Huskers, and everything is red and black. I’ve lived here for 11 years, moved from Atlanta, originally from Tampa, FL. Loved seeing the pictures from the AU game. Haven’t been to once since living in Atlanta. One of these days…..

Thanks for all the great ideas! Keep them coming. Your pictures are beautiful too.

Wow! I always enjoy reading your blogs and seeing all the yummy food and places you explore! But this one tops it for me. I LOVE chocolate and must put Max Brenners on my list of places to go. Your photos are amazing and a “mini break” for me as I sit at my desk daydreaming of chocolate, photography and traveling. Thank you for sharing!

oh how I love Max Brenners. I took about 15 kids (twenty somethings, kids to me) there as a treat for having volunteered for Katrina relief work. We had every kind of chocolate you could have as well (as a great lemony salad with chicken) everyone had chocolate all over their faces along with a smile. We had the best time ever, been there several times when I get to New York. LOVE IT! I now have a nice collection of hug mugs for serving salted caramel hot chocolate in.
BTW It is possible to have a chocolate hangover from Max Brenners

Max Brenner!!! Ahhh, I used to live in NYC and Max Brenner was my FAVORITE! Love the waffles with chocolate sauce and toffee bananas on the side. I moved from NYC 2 years ago and I always look forward to going back just to eat there again. Oooh, can’t forget the hot chocolate. My word, it’s to die for delish. I love the “hug mug” it comes in…you can wrap your hands around the warm mug and just enjoy. Absolutely an amazing restaurant…especially for a chocoholic like myself.

First, I love the images from the hotel. Makes me want to paint my bedroom gray and put up some hot pink curtains (but the hubs would probably veto that idea)! I’m always so tempted to go the modern route in decorating, but have the fear that I can’t pull it off.

Second, I don’t think I’ve ever drooled so much reading one post! EVER. I might have to have chocolate for breakfast this morning. And waffles. And more chocolate ;)

  18. Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga

chocolate pizza, chocolate stuffed eggrolls, a super fun meetup, and those pink curtains…Oh I love everything about this post :)
