I live in Terrebonne, Oregon, but grew up in Bend, Oregon. You really should see Smith Rocks, you’ll see lots of hikers, and rock climbers, take a picture of Monkey Face rocks. When you’re done stop by on your way out and get a huckleberry ice cream cone. Mmmmmm.

First is there a way to meet you and Kevin on your trip to my state?
Of course, Eugene the home of the Oregon Ducks has to be a stop. Have breakfast at The Glenwood, lunch at The Pump Cafe, Sweet Life for dessert and VooDoo donuts for late night goodies. (I’ll meet you at any of these – my treat….ok if we can get a picture together). Oh wait, dinner…yikes. I’ll come up with something. Too many choices.

Enjoy Oregon…it is fantastic. If you’re in Portland, check out the historic Mississippi district…very cool. Artsy and eclectic, and food trucks grouped together on corner lots with a wide variety of foods.
    Have a great time!

If you have an opportunity to make it down to Eugene, check out Cafe Yumm and Cart Defrisco at the Oakway Center. Great local fare:) Enjoy our amazing state.

Treesyjo was absolutely right!! After my stay in Gearhart this past weekend I totally recommend Pacific Way Bakery & Cafe, it was so good! The line was out the door but as my friend said, Starbucks could learn a lesson or two with the speed they were turning out the coffee drinks

We never made it there early enough for the chocolate croissants but the almond one was good, so were the chocolate chip cookies, cinnamon rolls, and the cheese onion bread! Tons of different scones and tarts to choose from too. They also have a restaurant next door that is open for lunch and dinner, we had pizza there one night and it was great.

Also two fun antique shops in Gearhart – Romancing the Home which is on 101 where you turn left on Pacific Way to get to the bakery, and then Yankee Trader which is just a little farther North on 101 on the right. Definitely don’t buy antiques in Cannon Beach with the tourist mark-up. I got blue glass Ball jars (no lids) at Yankee Trader for $3/each and the same thing was $10 in Cannon Beach.

Anyways… I’m sure you’re being bombarded with all of our Oregon favorites, but I had to come back and endorse Gearhart. Oh, also Baked Alaska in Astoria, my co-worker is friends with the chef/owner – good food and on the water so good view that includes the bridge.

    Okay, I’m done now! :)

Two eating in portland recommendations. Eat at Mothers for breakfast and Veritable Quandry for lunch or dinner. SO GOOD!! also the cookies from Mother’s make a great snack for later in the day. Also, check out the rose garden in Portland, rose city!

Oh yeah, VQ for sure! That was the first place I had basil ice cream and it was over a flourless chocolate cake type of dessert – such a yummy combo!!

The list of places you should visit is soooo long. From bend you should head west to Eugene. Sweet life is hands down the best bakery I’ve ever been to. You should then head to king estate winery for amazing food, wine, and views. After that you should head to the coast. Eugene is definitely a must.

Beautiful, Amanda!! I can’t wait to follow along on your adventures!! You have to try Saint Cupcake…best mini cupcakes…ever!! I love their cream cheese frosting & their vanilla frosting…you’ll love it! It’s within walking distance of the Hotel Lucia (which I love btw).

I live in Gearhart (on the Oregon Coast) and I TOTALLY agree with the comment regarding the pacific Way Bakery~ Yum yum! I think overall, after Gearhart of course! lol, Cannon Beach is a place you should check out. Its such a pretty little town and Haystack Rock (google to check it out) is just stunning! Headed South, I agree the Tillamook Cheese Factory is a fun place to hit (and have some yummy ice cream) and if you hit Lincoln City, I love Kyylos at the beach restaurant ( http://www.kyllosrestaurant.com/) for some to die for seafood and gorgeous views. If you do head to Astoria to check out the Goonies House (as suggested above), hit up the Wet Dog Cafe for some gorgeous river front views (http://www.wetdogcafe.com/) and great food and they’re a brewery as well, so try some hand crafted ale : ) ~ my family owns it and its a fun place to visit. Have a great visit!!!

You have to try out Pok Pok when you are in Portland. It has the most amazing Thai food!! Get the fish sauce wings. They are amazing!! You also have to try the desserts at Papa Haydn in NW Portland. They are huge and so good!!

I love going to Oregon! When we go, we camp by the beach at Cape Lookout. We love it! We always go to the Tillamook cheese factory. My husband really wants to go to a big airplane museum that has the Spruce Goose plane. They have a huge water park there too. There are also some haunted lighthouses. Last summer we went berry picking on our way home from camping. The yummiest blueberries, raspberries, and marionberries! The kids had a blast picking them and eating tons. I can’t wait to go back!

We loooooove Portland – hoping to move there one day!

    A couple of our favorites:
The crepe cart on 10th & Alder – $5 crepes and sooooooooooo yummy!
Iorio – best calamari! And amaazing dessert sampler!
    Bread & Ink – my faaavorite breakfast – it’s basically a sugar-coated Belgian waffle!

Fun! The Oregon / Washington coast was the last trip I took in the US and loved it. It’s so cozy up there and I’m sure you’ll enjoy the food. :) I can’t wait to see the pictures! See if you can get some Gravenstein apples. My parents bought some back once and they were amazing! I looked for them in August when I was up there and apparently it wasn’t the right month, so hopefully September is. :)

This posted in a weird place, so here it is again…

Yay, Oregon! My husband and I moved here from CA 5 years ago this week and we love it!
We just went to Bend for the first time last month and I have to recommend 10 Barrel. My whole family ate out twice while we were there and we went to 10 Barrel both times — it was that good! Other than that, you can do anything in Bend and it’s pretty awesome. Float down the river, check out the shops downtown, taste coffee and beer, go to quilt shops if you’re my mom (best quilt shops I have ever seen), bicycle riding, lava tubes… The list goes on and on!

For Portland there’s the beer, wine, and coffee again — we seem to love our beverages in Oregon. ) Lots of fabulous restaurants, too. I like the Deschutes Brewery here in the Pearl better than the one in Bend — it’s fancy pub grub. I have not been to Farm, Laurelhurst Market, or the Firehouse, but I hear they all have amazing food and they’re on my list of places to go.

The Pearl and NW 23rd are fun for walking around and window shopping. There are also fun neighborhoods on the East Side — Hawthorn, Mississippi, and Alberta are a few.

The coast, wine tasting, Multnomah Falls, and Mt. Hood are all great places to go. Most people end up in Cannon Beach at the coast. It has a good beach (Haystack Rock for the Goonies fans!) and the downtown is adorable. Multnomah falls is an easy drive from Portland and is beautiful.

So glad you get to visit our great state. Hope you have a fabulous time!

I live in Oregon, and when I’m at the coast, the Tillamook Cheese Factory is a must! Sample cheese made there, and my favorite part, get ice cream! They have some of the best ice cream around. Hope this helps!! :-)

  18. Stephanie @ Our Marriage Adventure

So pretty! I would love to go visit the NW again. I’ve only been once and it was 20 years ago, so I’m pretty sure things have changed lol. The one thing I remember is riding on a bicycle cart thing (5 people pedaling a cart) along the surf. Now that was truly amazing! Y’all should try that :)

  19. Treesyjo

My home state!! If you’re in the Seaside/Gearhart/Astoria area, check out the Pacific Way Cafe in Gearhart. My uncle is the head chef there and the food is SO delish! And the bakery next door is great in the mornings. Dinner reservation is highly recommended.

That’s where I’m headed this weekend! We’re staying in Gearhart and I’ve never been so had no ideas where to eat but now I’ll check out the Pacific Way Cafe for sure!

    3. Treesyjo

I suggest picking up a load of cheddar onion bread from Pacific Way to take home but you have to get to the bakery early coz that bread goes fast. I have lots of family in that area. My mom lives in Seaside, my Aunt & Uncle live in Gearhart, and another Aunt lives in Seaside (she is a waitress at the P-Way). I got married in Astoria on top of the Hotel Elliott. Such a beautiful place.

  20. Sarah @ Will Run for Pasta

I already live in Oregon so we should just meet up while you’re here anyways :P

Let’s see, two of our favorite places to eat on the coast, both in Lincoln City:
The Bay House (http://www.thebayhouse.org/) (this one has a water view, I actually blogged about it here: http://sarahandkarl.blogspot.com/2010/08/lincoln-city.html)
Blackfish Cafe (http://www.blackfishcafe.com/) (no view but amazing food)

I’m hitting Cannon Beach, Seaside, Gearhart, and maybe Astoria too this weekend so I’ll let you know if I find anything else good!

Are you hitting up the Tillamook factory? It’s kinda fun, good ice cream :)

  21. Terry

Sure wish there was another way to enter ~ I deleted my Facebook account in June and have intentions of going back….but sure would like a chance to win a trip to Oregon! WAR EAGLE!!

  22. Shawna

How sad that those not on Facebook cannot enter. But, I do want to say, you must try to get to Bandon, Oregon. What a quaint, sweet, sleepy town. And go to the Bandon bakery—- they have the best cream puffs ever. Real whipped cream. Huge. YUMMY!!!

  23. Katie

My home state! One place I strongly recommend on the coast is Gracie’s Sea Hag in Depoe Bay. I think it’s way better than Mo’s. And definitely Dutch Bros!
