Sharing: Your Blogs

You guys know I’m always saying- “Leave me a link to your blog!” Hah! I feel like I sound like a broken record (and a little bit of a stalker)! :) But one of my favorite things to do is browse through your sweet comments and check out the links you leave me. I absolutely *love* it when I see how you’ve put the tutorials and fonts from this blog to good use in your own blog designs! :) Seeing how creatively you use the fonts and tutorials inspires *me* to be more creative- and offer more stuff for you to use! :) It’s a terrific cycle.

I have tons and tons of your blogs bookmarked- here are just a few I selected at random tonight.

Bella Boston. Gorgeous! Love the colors.

Bret ‘n Laura. Love the fonts here, Laura! Especially how you used them for the whole body of the post- and the sidebar, too!

Our Changing Reflection. Beautiful. Please, please, please check out her cooking blog. Immediately. I have like a thousand of her recipes bookmarked. Especially this one. *faint*

Devin & Lianne. So serene.

Life is Beautiful. Magical. Love this.

Life with a Lab. So cute & fun!

Little Miss Firefly. Shabby sweet! Love that font.

simple.little.joys. Love the “Back to School” feeling of this blog. It makes me want to buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address.

This Texas Life. Love how she combined the Spring & Fall collection kits and changed the colors to suit her! Aqua and Red- very chic! :)

I absolutely adore your blog. I came across this site just the other day and I’m really so glad I did. I’m trying to do the Bokeh photo thing, but I really don’t understand it haha. Oh well. It just really might not work on my 18-55mm lens. Anyway. Just wanted to let you know that your designs inspire me as an artist as well! Looking forward to more posts!

Kathleen Summers January 17, 2010 at 1:03 am

Well your blog rocks, my friend! I absolutely love what you’ve been doing lately from the shabby digi kits to the bokeh tutorials to the fab post on your weight loss!

Thanks for what you do!

Monica Hawkins January 17, 2010 at 1:12 am

Its one of my passions, I just recently got my first digital SlR I am in LOVE with it, anyway I whent ahead and got canons 50mm f/1.8 THANKS for speaking out about the things you like! Most photographers are VERY teritorial about sharing things! Your Awesome. Keep it comin!

Hilarie January 17, 2010 at 1:13 am

I have been using your site (including the info on your links) to put together a web page over the past week. So there’s not too much there yet. But I’m working on it. (Next task – deciding where to host my photos so I can actually get some posted. I just want to start out right and not switch after a few weeks.)

I also bought a DSLR camera this past week (big week!), so I was reading your lens recommendations and your “how to use a DSLR” post, too.

Thanks for all the info you have here – it’s great!

Ginny January 17, 2010 at 1:38 am

Love looking at blogs too. Enjoyed your “You’ve Got Mail” quote. Love that movie! :)

Jamie January 17, 2010 at 1:55 am

Those blogs are amazing! I made my own background and header and I thought it looked pretty good, but after seeing these I think I need to read some of your tutorials!

Southern Gal January 17, 2010 at 6:35 am

Amanda, I love your fonts and designs. I would use them, but I am so computer illiterate it scares me to even look at the directions on how to go about changing my blog. I’m really scared I’ll mess it up and never be able to put it back!

Maybe one day I’ll get up the nerve to try and be one of your featured blogs! Do you make housecalls???

Kindel January 17, 2010 at 6:40 am

LOVE that “You’ve Got Mail” quote. It’s one of my favorites!

Olive Tree January 17, 2010 at 7:12 am

Oh, and another thing. I am totally getting a new camera this year (we’re saving now!). I’ve read your photography page and I feel so informed now. I can’t wait to try some of your tips and tricks!

Erin January 17, 2010 at 9:59 am

I think my first comment didn’t go through for some reason. The one above this one was what I forgot to say in the first one!

So what it said was that I used 2 of your tutorials to spruce up my blog: the changing fonts one, and the scrapbook blog background one. Also, I downloaded the newest trial version of Photoshop Elements and it does have guides, after all. Thanks for writing such awesome tutorials!

Diana January 17, 2010 at 10:02 am

What a great blog summary. I enjoy seeing different layouts, designs, color schemes for ideas for my own blog (I’m in the process of making it all over on a testing blog now so new ideas are great). And you’re right that Recipe Blog is AMAZING!!! It will become a favorite quick (I’m already Following her blog :)). Thanks Amanda!

I love the look of those blogs, too. I’m guilty of often being drawn to content because of the overall look that pulls me into a blog. Which, of course, is why I use YOUR fonts in my blog designs, too! People loooooooooove them and I ALWAYS send them your way so that they can get them for themselves!

Lauren January 17, 2010 at 10:56 am

Megan January 17, 2010 at 12:57 pm

I do adore your blog! I came across it recently looking for scraproom inspiration on google. I even “lifted” your idea of baskets across the top of the cabinets in my laundry room :) (and linked it back to you, of course). Keep the fabulous posts coming!

rachel in Cali. January 17, 2010 at 1:42 pm

Hey Girl!
So fun!! I am so guilty of spending way to much time online! I love reading blogs, seeing picts of people homes, getting organizing ideas, and dinner recipes! I just love taking in all the creativity and info! :0)

Hey is the cursive font on Devin and Lianne’s site one of the pea fonts? I don’t think I have that one, and I love it!

Krissa January 17, 2010 at 2:20 pm

Hi Amanda, I enjoy reading your blog and have sifted through many of your tutorials to learn about techniques and how to get more creative. I started my first blog four months ago to chronicle me and my husband’s transition from life as devoted Texans to spending a year abroad in Scotland! My entry font is one provided by your site and I love that way it looks. If you have the time, check out our journey:

Keep up the good work!

Just wanted to say I love your blog and really enjoyed checking out everyone else’s, too! Also, had to acknowledge your Tom Hanks quote…You’ve Got Mail is one of my favorite movies and that blog made me think of the school supplies quote, too.

Alison Haley January 17, 2010 at 4:56 pm

Deneen Cook January 17, 2010 at 6:39 pm

Amanda I absolutely love your blog and have spent hours exploring it since recently finding it LOL. Imagine my surprise when exploring your blog I came across the very same scrap room I have been in love with since seeing it in a magazine way back in 2001 or 2002. I had torn it out because I have always said someday I will have a room like that. You can visit my blog any time at
Do you have any pointers for adding a signature to typepad blogs or and other fun stuff for typepad blogs?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Amnda! I have had the best time making over my blog! Thanks so much for the tutorials, fonts and advice. I think my blog was nice before, but now it totally rocks!!!!

Kaye January 18, 2010 at 12:19 am

I have only recently found your blog, but I love it! I especially enjoy the photography tips- to see how and what you use to get your awesome effects! I am too busy to be much of a chef and my three boys think that frozen burritos are the height of culinary delight, so I haven’t tried your recipes. I appreciate the step-by-step instructions and the gorgeous photos, though. The fonts are lovely and your dogs are adorable. So glad I stumbled onto your blog!

maria therese January 18, 2010 at 1:03 am

With the help from my little broter and your tutorial I got to change the font on my blog too. Not easy thoug finding a cute font with the Norwegian letters æøå. So I’ll change the font when I find the perfect one. Until then I’ll use Scriptina that is also a cute font but not alway easy to read.

Thanx so much for the tutorial. + I also got my own signature now thanx to your tutorial.

Jillian Staggs January 18, 2010 at 2:12 am

I love your blog! Lots of interesting and beautiful things. I love grabbing a cup of coffee and relaxing as I read your blog and so many others! Feels like I have friends all around the world :)

Sew Create It - Jane January 18, 2010 at 4:07 am

I just wanted to let you know how grateful I am to have found your blog. Since discovering your blog and reading through some of your posts I’ve updated my blog to have one of your gorgeous fonts come up in the titles and sidebar and I’ve improve the way in which I use a signature (I used to put the code in manually for each post) but the best bit of advice I read was the top tip about weighing out your morning cereal. OMG I am shocked at how many extra calories I was eating each morning! The recommended amount with milk is 173 calories and I was easily having triple that amount. Generally speaking we eat a healthy diet and I know portion sizes are one of the biggest culprits for us…but it was never more apparent than in the quantities of cereal I was having. If I do nothing else, this should help make an impact. I’ll let you know how I get on. :o)

Mary January 18, 2010 at 9:50 am

Thank you for your great blog! You have such amazing ideas and inspirational posts.

amanda g. January 18, 2010 at 10:06 am

Katie January 18, 2010 at 10:16 am

Hi Amanda,

I recently came across your blog as I dove into the world of blog design. I found your tutorial on adding cute fonts really helpful and I was able to change the font on my post title/date. I love it! Thanks so much for the great info!

I have a question for you. What I really want to do is make a custom header, but I don’t know of a program to use that works with a MAC. I have seen several bloggers mention different programs, but I have not seen any that are Mac compatible. I would love to find one that I can try for free. Any ideas?

Come take a peek at my fonts…

Thanks again!

maya January 18, 2010 at 10:16 am

Ive been following you for about 18months. I used your font tut to change the fonts on my blog.

Do just need to add that my blog DOES contain adult content. :o)

It wasn’t until I first came upon your blog that I even realized that you could do something besides the same old, same old with my blog. Our family blog has slowly evolved into something that I really love, greatly in part to the way you have designed your blog.

Thanks you for opening my eyes! Happy New Year & thanks again for being awesome!!

Lianne Walker January 19, 2010 at 11:54 am

Thanks for posting a pic of my blog! I absolutely LOVE all of the tutorials that you put on your blog. The content on my blog is not tht great (I’m not the most creative person when it comes to writing…) so I have to offset that with the look of my blog. And you’ve helped me out so much! So thank you! :)

Lianne Walker January 19, 2010 at 11:59 am

Oh and to Rachel in Cali, that font is called Petra Script. You used to be able to find it on but I think they’ve taken it off their site. I’m not sure where to find a free download anymore…

Couldn’t thank you enough,

thanks for ur tutorial..even its too long to follow, but at last, it works! haha.. thanks! :)

Rebecca May 22, 2011 at 1:11 am

This is by far the best website that I have ever seen!! I want to have my own blog like you, but right now I’m settled with LJ. Like you, I learned HTML from trial and error but I haven’t attempted CSS or PH. I’m scared that I won’t get it especially since I haven’t entirely figured out how to write HTML even though i want to. I don’t have a site to practice on so I was wondering what site do you use as a practice site? Also, any good tutorials online or books that can help me with HTML, CSS, and PH and how to write them? You accomplished what I want to do in web design so you are now my role model and the fact that you started out like I did gives me hope. What is the best site to create your own website from scratch without buying the domain name?

I am also looking for a hobby, but I don’t have the money or space to have a lot of stuff – any ideas for a good hobby that isn’t terribly expensive? I can always hang out at BNN and teach myself there rather than buy the books hehe.

Is there a way that I can do scrapbooking online rather than physical? I don’t have a passion for scrapbooking (though yours are amazing and I wish I did have a passion), but it’d be cool if I could do it online. You have yours online so I don’t know if those are pictures of your actual ones or if you did them online.

You have a font similar to what my handwriting looks like, but as soon as I get the chance I will do what you suggested; however, I don’t have a scanner so I don’t know how to scan it.

I wish I had an office like your scrapbooking room – that’s my dream.
