Fresh Start: New Year, New Decade

food scale giveaway blog

A few weeks ago I was browsing through the comments section of this blog, as I often do- I love clicking on the blog links and taking a peek- reading your posts, sharing in your stories and getting to know you a little better! :) I came across something on New Year’s Resolutions that I’ve been thinking about ever since- and I wanted to share it here. This is from Sarah at The Strength of Faith:

I work with a girl who absolutely loves Mondays. LOVES them. She says they give her a fresh start. Mondays that start a new month are even better. We were both at work yesterday and were thinking about coming into work next week. Not only will we be coming in on a Monday, but it will be Monday, January 4, 2010. We will be starting a new WEEK, MONTH, YEAR and DECADE. I think this is the perfect opportunity to start fresh; to make one attainable resolution (read: ONE and ATTAINABLE) and to focus on how that one resolution can feed into the other parts of your life.

New year, new decade. A fresh start. I love that!

After posting about my weight loss story last November, I heard from many of you how you wanted to try it- after the holidays, of course! A fresh start in the new year. I have even heard from a couple of you how the first week went- someone lost 3 lbs! Success! :)

I love getting those emails- hearing your success stories, sharing tips, answering any questions I can, hopefully helping out a little! :) I noticed a lot of you had the same questions (and I was beginning to sound like a broken record! :)) – so I thought I’d share a few of those answers here, in case anyone else was wondering! :)

The Most Frequently Asked Question: What do you snack on during the day?

Grapes – they’re Kevin’s absolute favorite. I learned this trick from his mom and aunt- they keep a bowl of fresh grapes out on the counter almost all the time. Whenever you walk through the kitchen, you grab a couple of grapes. It helps keep you feeling full, you’re not looking for other (possibly unhealthier) stuff to snack on, and they’re just plain easy and fun to munch on. :)

Frozen blueberries – a 1/2 cup of these with just a little spoon of cool whip… YUM! A great late-night, low calorie sweet treat.

Clementines – my new obsession. They’re like tangerines, but smaller and sweeter. And super easy to peel- it practically just falls right off. And best of all- no seeds! You can just pop a slice in one after the other. And apparently they have amazing healing powers- I was getting a sore throat right after Christmas, and I was crushed- a sore throat for me is *always* the first sign of a cold. But I ate three clementines that night and the next morning the sore throat was completely gone- and I never came down with a cold. Coincidence? Who knows?? :)

Bananas/fruit – Filling. Low cal. My mid-morning snack of choice.

Granola bars/yogurt – I love granola bars and yogurt, but they’re just not all that filling for me. I eat one and 30 mins later I’m hungry again. lol. I eat these as an afternoon snack when I just need something light to tide me over until dinner.

Popcorn – I was never a huge popcorn person before, but now I love it. It’s definitely my favorite late night snack. My favorite is Orville Redenbacher’s Movie Theater Butter- let me tell you, it tastes *way* better than any popcorn I’ve ever gotten at the movie theatre! :) It’s so buttery you don’t need to add extra butter- and at only 70 calories in 2 cups of popcorn- it’s way, way better for you too! :) When I’m in the mood for something sweet, I reach for kettle corn- sweet and salty. :D Yum.

My Best Tip: Don’t skip breakfast!

I had to really work on Kevin about this one- he was never a huge breakfast person and had every excuse out there! :) “But I’m just not hungry in the mornings”, “I don’t have time to eat before work”, “But eating first thing in the morning just makes me feel hungrier during the day!” (Huh??) But studies show that, even if you eat the same number of calories, you burn more calories if you spread them out over the day, rather than eating them all in one or two meals. So now Kevin eats oatmeal in the morning before work and has a granola bar for a mid morning snack. Starting your day with whole grains and spreading your calories out over the whole day helps keep you feeling fuller longer and keeps your metabolism boosted. (Note: I am so not even close to being an expert in this area- I’m just repeating things I’ve heard that have been true in my experience! :))

eatsmart-food-scale-giveaway

A Little Help: from EatSmart

I had this food scale on my Christmas wish list- not just for calorie counting purposes- but also for baking and other recipes that measure ingredients by weight. Imagine my shock when a few weeks before Christmas, EatSmart contacted me and offered to send me the exact scale on my wishlist! :) I have used this little thing almost every day since getting it in the mail- it pretty much lives on my counter! Definitely my favorite thing about it is how small and lightweight it is- it hardly takes up any room. Which makes it perfect for leaving out on the counter, or storing easily in any cabinet, drawer, or small space if company’s coming over. ;)

The most useful feature is the scale’s tare (zero) function- you just put a bowl or plate on the scale, turn it on, and it eliminates or “zeros out” the weight of the plate- so you can load it up with whatever you’re weighing. Then if you want, you can zero it out again and add more! :) It’s great for snacks- that way I don’t have to dirty up a measuring cup or something- just the bowl I’m eating out of. The digital display is big and easy to read- even if there’s a large plate of food on the scale- and it’s definitely an upgrade from the old-fashioned analog scale I was using! :) I mostly weight things in ounces and lbs, but you can also weight in grams and kilograms- which will come in handy with a few baking recipes I have.

Kevin loves it because it weighs items up to 11 lbs- made shipping all our Christmas packages a snap! :)

Not only did EatSmart offer to send me one to try out- they sent one to give away! :) It comes in 5 different colors- and you get to pick! :)

We have a winner!!! :)

Congratulations to #126 Teale! :)

This scale sounds great!

My new year’s resolution…don’t worry so much. It is kind of a continuum from last year, inspired by a saying from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, “The best thing one can do when it’s raining is to let it rain.”

Wow! I’ve been wanting a scale! I’d love to win this!

I have read and re-read your blog about your amazing weight loss. My daughter and I and hubby are up for the challenge starting the first of February. Thanks for your helpful insight into doing it cheaper.

PSS-CONGRATS on your Pioneer Woman Win.. I was so excited when I saw your picture I was calling my daughter and telling her “that’s Kevin and Amanda” but why not the great shot with the cut out over the lens?

thanks for all the great info and fun.

I would love a scale! I need something to keep me in check. Plus I need to weigh the ingredients for my homemade pasta recipe. :) I wanted to try to lose weight this year, but just found out I’m pregnant! Yay! So now I am just going to try to be healthier and not gain as much weight.

Jackie Briere January 12, 2010 at 1:25 am

Hi Amanda! I would love to win one of those! I bought a food scale that Dr. Bernstein recommends when you go through their program, but it’s a small cheapy one .http://store.drbdiet.com/v/vspfiles/photos/MI-S-SC-FOOD1-2.gif
Unfortunately, I have gained all my weight back since going through that program but my weight is an ongoing issue and I do not like to treat it as a new year resolution cause I know it is a lifestyle choice to eat healthy. There are a lot of recipes I can make using the new food scale in the Dr. Bernstein cookbook. Reading about your weight loss will help me get back on track . I need to start new , with a new food scale! Thanks for giving us the chance to win one!

My 3 year old daughter was diagnosed with PKU (phenylketonuria) at birth. We have to weigh every food she eats and calculate it each day. It’s been a great lesson for the whole family on portion control. And it makes baking so much easier, too! My goals for 2010… no more soda, cut back on snacking, and exercise more!

Terri Shaver January 12, 2010 at 4:13 am

We’ve taken a vegan approach to the new year… seeing results! I’m learning a lot about nutrition that I never knew before (and I was a nurse!) Learning a lot about where nutrients come from and how to get the most from a meal. Thank goodness for the Internet. Research and recipes are a snap! This week, I’ve added “wheat free” to our equation and it’s making it a bit more complex, but again, the internet helps!
Thanks for the blog! Always something for everyone!

Hi Amanda,
Thank you for the giveaway offer! My husband and I have been making small changes to live healthier. We’ve added more fruits and vegetables to our diet. Also more nuts as a filling and healthy snack. We’ve been getting on the treadmill and rowing machine. We feel better and with the approach to making small changes we look forward to the added benefit of losing weight. When it comes to lunch meat and portions in general we think a scale would be very helpful.

223
Brittany January 12, 2010 at 5:06 am

I’m trying my best to be healthy and watch what I’m eating. This scale would definitely help!

My resolution this year it so finish and graduate school!! I can do it by October if I put all my effort and energy into it!

225
Therese January 12, 2010 at 5:25 am

Love all the ideas you give us. My resolution this year, like many others, is to lose weight. I have 100 lbs to take off. I weigh in on Fridays, which I’m hoping will keep me on track for the weekends and I have lost 4 lbs since Jan 1st. A long road but I’m willing to put in the work and your scale would be perfect seeing I weigh or measure everything!

TKS!

Courtney January 12, 2010 at 5:32 am

Gotta love a good giveaway! My new years resolution was to get back in the gym and lose about 10-15 pounds. So, I’d really like to try this scale for snacks and such. I’m excited to see who wins!

Jude January 12, 2010 at 5:42 am

Oh, boy, Decembre is the absolute worst month for an Italiana with a sweet tooth. There are still biscotti and panetone on the kitchen counter, but I can’t even look at them after all the excess of Christmas — now I’m cooking up fresh vegetables and brown rice and making salads to bring to lunch. A scale like this would help me judge portions, so count me in!

Love your blog– buon anno!

Hi Amanda! Good for you for keeping up the good work! I have started South Beach for maximum weight loss and am doing an exercise program called P90X. The scale would help me so much! I have always wanted one, and this would really help me sort out portion control, especially for meats!

How fun!

Hey there! Lurker here! :) I would love this scale SO much! I’ve been working out w/ a close friend who is a personal trainer 2x a week, and doing cardio more than that, and eating MUCH better, so this would only help me even more w/ the measuring! (i.e. how much is 1 oz of almonds? How many almonds?! I guess!)

Thanks!

I love this scale! Mine is a WW type scale that is always a little off. I’ve begun this week to try and jump into eating healthier for me and for the hubby.

Thanks for the chance to win!

235
Sara January 12, 2010 at 6:29 am

That scale seems like it is super handy. I am starting my weight loss journey today. I was actually just talking to a friend of mine yesterday about how I really have no idea how to diet. I think being able to measure and weigh things would really help me with serving sizes, etc.

I am working on losing some weight. My first motivation is that my daughter is getting married in June and I want to look sooo nice for my husband if I am going to be dressing up. My second motivation was a picture of me that was taken recently and….yikes, that is motivation!!

Thanks for the great giveaway!

Hey Amanda
What a neat gadget! I would LOVE to win the scale..please add me to the drawing… I just read about how you lost the weight and just started trying… Hope it works! I’ve tried it all! I even went on the site to try and figure out how many calories per serving some of my favorite recipies are. Problem is I don’t always have how many servings they are and it won’t tell you via cup size or anything.. Oh well …. Thanks so much for your awesome site! Take care!

Kristi January 12, 2010 at 7:00 am

242
Marianne Ogg January 12, 2010 at 7:12 am

What a great giveaway!!! I’d use it alot, I’ve always wanted to try a certain whole wheat bread recipe but it is all in weights. YAY!!!

My new years resolution is to be healthier, in general. My only child (as of right now) is now a year old, and I realized that I don’t want him eating french fries, soda, fried food, etc. So I’ve given them all up. I now opt for steamed veggies or a baked potato when eating out and I drink ice tea when I’m watered out-I do love water! I want him to have a healthy start and he will only learn from example! Now, I just have to get my husband on board with that!

I have a water tip for you I learned when I was pregnant. I love water, its never been an issue drinking it. But when you are pregnant you are supposed to drink even more water. I found that adding lemon made it a bit easier to get those extra ounces down. I found some stuff called True Lemon. Its crystalized lemon and its great! Comes in packets so I could keep them in my purse and add to water whenever. And, it comes in Lime and Orange flavors too! Check it out because its awesome!!!

Kendall H January 12, 2010 at 7:24 am

As a newleywed, it has been my desire to serve food for my husband and I that is healthy, filling, and good for our bodies. Recently, I have really enjoyed slicing red, yellow, and green peppers with some onions and pieces of skinless, boneless chicken. i then pour olive oil on them, sprinkle a little sesamee seeds on top and bake for about 20 minutes. when it’s done, i top it over some white or brown rice and serve with a little soy sauce. it’s filling, you get your veggies, and it’s simple.

my new years resolution…i’m not sure i have one but i know that i want to serve my husband and live out my roles as a wife just as i’m called to do in Ephesians 5:22-24. i look up to the Proverbs 31 woman and i pray the Lord would give me wisdom to follow in her footsteps as i am called to do!

Thanks for your wonderful blog, i follow it and love hearing how your family is doing! be blessed!

Not that I’m counting the lbs, but this year I’ve signed up for an 8K (in March, no less!) and considering a longer race with my sister, leading up to a half marathon in August. I’m not a runner. i can go 2.5 miles on the treadmill at a nice clip. So I’ll be bumping that up and if I tone up and lose a couple of lbs in the process, that’s great. But it is time for a change, especially before THE CHANGE takes over…
thanks for all the inspiration!

Missy J January 12, 2010 at 7:29 am

That little scale is perfect. I love the idea of it weighing the bowl first. Thanks for sharing. I have it on my list now :) We call the little clementines “cuties” and my family loves them. They are the perfect snack / treat. Glad you are sticking with eating healthy. Thanks for inspiring so many of us! Here’s to the best year ever :)

That would be sooooo handy in my kitchen!

249
Lori G January 12, 2010 at 7:33 am

Thanks for all of the helpful hints Amanda. I love the idea about leaving a bowl of grapes on the counter, and the frozen blueberries with a little cool whip sounds just as good to me as a bowl of ice cream…I’m going to have to try it!

250
Deidre January 12, 2010 at 7:35 am

Hi Amanda! I LOVE the tips for weightloss that you have tucked up your sleeve! I also heart clementines as well…I actually ate 2 this morning for breakfast.

My “goals” this year include losing and keeping off the weight, as well as being more passionate about life in general.

I think the gadget is awesome and it would look fantastic on my counter top! hehe

Thanks for the post and the give away!

Allison F January 12, 2010 at 7:38 am

I am not trying to lose weight…in fact i will be trying to gain it over the next 7 months (wink). But my husband would like to lose some weight. I would like to learn to keep the right kind of foods around to snack on and also learn to cook more often and healthier. This is part of my resolution. I have done a pretty good job providing a healthy meal for my 2 year old but i fail misserably for us. you are an insperation and i love your blog!

252
Stephanie Fitch January 12, 2010 at 7:39 am

That scale looks much better than the one I was borrowing from my Husband! LOL My husband has a gram scale that he uses to weigh coffee beans prior to grinding them because it takes 18 grams of espresso beans to make just the right “shot”. Yes I live with a coffee fantic but that’s ok.
I’d love to win the scale and I love your BLOG AMANDA! YOU ROCK!

253
Joan January 12, 2010 at 7:44 am

It’s so interesting to read your posts on weight loss and all the comments. You have really inspired so many!

254
Vicki January 12, 2010 at 7:46 am

Loved the scale too! Portion control is really a huge issue when trying to lose weight. Someone told me to eat every 2 hours, so I try and have good choices (already measured out) in little baggies ready to go. Almonds, cheese stick, hard boiled egg, veggies sliced up, fruit on the counter, etc. It’s a new day, new year!

255
Bernice January 12, 2010 at 7:48 am

I love your snack tips! And I’m definitely with you on the whole don’t skip breakfast thing. I never used to be a breakfast person and I’m really pressed for time some mornings, but I definitely need it now. It’s a lot easier when you have a routine (i.e., when you have to go to work) than when you’re just sitting at home all day but it’s definitely good. I always try to get something that keeps me full up until lunch so I don’t start snacking in the middle of the day. My breakfast of choice right now is Kashi Go Lean (the crunchy one) with a fruit yogurt. Sooo good :)

Cathy Michels January 12, 2010 at 7:48 am

I love your blog and the things you share. I was so impressed with your weight loss story and your sensible approach.

I find one of the most important tools for maintaining my weight is to weigh myself every single day. (Sometimes teetering on one leg trying to influence the thing in my favor.) That way I can’t delude myself about the effects of a few extra ‘treats’. That and portion control. Denying myself leads to craving and binging but limiting myself teaches me restraint. That little scale would make portion control much easier!

257
paula.thequilter January 12, 2010 at 8:02 am

BTW, frozen grapes are yummy too. On a hot day, just grabbing a couple from the freezer is refreshing. I started my journey *this* week instead of last week. I have a FitDay.com account that has helped in the past (yes, I know) and I reactivated it. You have done so well, you inspire me!

258
Amanda Nelson January 12, 2010 at 8:10 am

I love the ‘fresh start’ concept.

I also recently read a book where the general theme was focused on the smallest of baby steps. Here it is….
“Make the next right decision” What a concept, hun?!?! It applies for all things in life, but for those of us trying to get healthy and be aware of dietary consumption is quite a motivator. “Make the next right decision”!

If you just had a ‘slip’ or a bad day allow yourself the next right decision. Don’t dwell. Don’t beat yourself up. Don’t allow a mistake to derail you healthy lifestyle. Just
Make the NEXT right decision. :)

p.s. I’d LOVE to get my paws on this digtal scale. I will aid in my quest to make many more RIGHT decisions.

I have been dying for a food scale and this one looks awesome! I started my weight loss journey in Dec. 2009 and I have lost 11 pounds. Congrats on your weight loss. I really enjoy reading you blog by the way. Hope to hear from you soon. ;)

260
Symone January 12, 2010 at 8:14 am

I just want to say Thanks!!! All of your information has been really helpful. I myself have started my weight loss journey and my best that’s lost 30 pounds has also giving me great pointers which I’ve added your 1,200 cal guideline. I’ve been doing really great!! From just starting I’m down 7 pounds and am really excited for the new me that’s just around the bend!

CCT January 12, 2010 at 8:16 am

Your posts are always so nice and encourageing! Keep them coming. The scale looks nice. I have a very old one from the ’80′s! :) Not digital. I love the quote resolution at the end of your blog. I try to tell my teenagers every chance I get to be nice to everyone, you don’t have to hang with them or be their friends to be nice to them. You don’t know where they are coming from or what their situation is. Keep smiling!

I love to bake, well and cook, and if you eat, the pounds will come. I have been wanting to portion out my meals and this looks like it would help!

Hi Amanda! I LOVE clementines and am spoiled after eating tangerines, then having a clementine! No seeds, SOOO easy to peel! My resolution is to simply be good to my body and do healthy things for it, physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally. So far, so good! I’ve exercised every day and tried my best (with a few slip-ups) to eat healthy foods. Thanks for your blog and and neat ideas! My daughter is obsessed with your fonts, refers to them quite often. We have a Boston Terrier named Chloe – they’re are the most awesome dogs ever!!

I love the idea of a scale…super neat! I am not much of a new years resoulition girl…but just in general as a goal of mine I have been working on firming up those muscles, especially for winter since I do less riding and general work outside. Oh and then there is the portion control…I miss those days that I could eat whatever and still be 115lbs! I would just love to be 125lbs again :).

That is pretty amazing what you have done as far as weight loss! Oh and of course I love your blog :)!

I would love the scale. Oh I hope I win. I joined Weight Watchers last May, because I NEEDED help to lose this extra weight! Through the end of November I lost 47.8lbs! I had surgery in December, combined with the holidays I gained about 7 lbs back. I was a little discouraged, but I’m now continuing my journey to reach 50lbs and beyond. It’s a huge jumpstart on my weight loss, but this is MY year to get in shape and look fabulous!

I can’t tell you how much I am enjoying your blog; the fonts, the colorful papers, the photographs, and not to mention your pets! I give you both 5 stars! My New Year’s resolution has to do with my hobby. I am a totally obsessed scrapbooker, and am giving my time to Crops of Luv, an awesome group that makes scrapbooks for children who have gone on their Make a Wish Foundation trip/activity. What a great way to give back! I am pumped. Happy New Year and keep up this amazing blog!!!!!

I havent really officially starting to shed those couple pounds I’m looking to lose, but your journey has inspired me to kick start it! Nothing too crazy, just watching what I eat, how much I eat, and making better lifestyle choices in general. So thanks for the helpful motivation!

I would love love love to win this scale. I have started tracking every bite I eat. Record all BLTs is my new years resolution…What does BLT stand for you ask ? … Bites, Licks, and Tastes. These add up throughout the day so we all need to be aware and write them down. Another great snack idea is frozen grapes. YUM :D Have a great day…by the way it’s snowing here in Ohio. It’s beautiful especially when the red birds are on the ground eating fallen birdseed. I counted 8 red birds around my feeder yesterday.

My husband has lost between 60 and 70 lbs this past year and I am SO proud of him. He is a doctor, so he needed to be healthy and live by example! I would love to have this scale for him!! You look wonderful, by the way, congratulations on being more “healthy”!!

I would love to win this little scale! So cute and it would be great to use in my house for both my husband and I. We started this year with goals to eat healthy and losing weight. I have a few other resolutions (including drinking less soda, being more organized/declutter my home and not yelling so much! HELP). This little guy would be great for me. Thanks for the chance and happy new year!

I wish I had some weight loss to blog about and then I would start a blog! Believe me, it gets harder as you get older. I still use an old fashioned non digital scale – very bulky and not extrememly accurate. My goal is to eat healthier and try to watch portion control.

This is so exciting – I lost 3 pounds last week and would love a scale so much – for simple things like knowing how big the piece of meat I’m eating actually is!

julie b January 12, 2010 at 9:16 am

Fantastic and timely give away!
I have been contemplating buying a scale for my weight loss journey.
I think this would be very helpful in know exactly how much the meat I am eating really weighs.
I’m loosely documenting my journey of trying to lose 40 pounds by the time I turn 40 at the end of this year.
I have not weighed myself as of yet since starting….I’m plan to do a weigh in next week to see how far I have come in 2 weeks.
You look fabulous, as does your husband! Congratulations to you both on your success!

I have followed your blog for several months now but this is my first comment. I have to congratulate you and Kevin on your weight loss. I too have set goals for this year, including like some other have said, giving up sodas. The thought never crossed my mind until I read it on your blog, so thank you! I can see how the scale would/will come in handy and can’t wait to try one out myself… I too overlook breakfast most days for some of the same ‘excuses’ Kevin uses, so I’m working on that… I’ve also started using Spark, really handy… I am tracking my weight loss on my blog but it’s not my ‘weight loss blog’, it just my family blog, hope you have time to take a look into our life…

Happy dieting!

C Russell

I too am looking to lose some pounds in 2010. Started my Beach Body exercise program for the second time this weekend. My motivation is a warm weather vacation planned with my 15 year old daughter. She’s going to be running around in a little bikini, and although I have no delusions, I’d at least like to not embarrass her by the pool. I love your snack tips! Thank you! I noticed a post from someone talking about wanting to cook more meals at home, so I thought I’d share my tip for making that happen. Each Saturday I take the time to write out each day of the coming week, what activities we have going on, and then assign a meal to that day based on what I’ll have time for (might take 30 minutes total and only because I struggle to think of new things to cook – but your blog is helping with that). For example, if my older daughter has to be a volleyball practice at 5pm, I know I won’t have time to get home from work and cook before she has to eat so I will plan a crockpot meal for that day, or maybe plan a meal for the night before that I know will have leftovers. Once I have the week complete, I make a grocery list containing everything I will need to make all of the meals for the upcoming week. I make sure to complete my grocery shopping before the weekend is over and it goes faster because I know exactly what I need. I’m extra motivated to cook all of those meals because I’ve already paid for all of the ingredients. In addition, I don’t have to think all week. It’s all written down and posted on the refrigerator. This also is helpful because everyone else in the house knows what is for dinner, and my husband will even look at it and try to help prep stuff when he has time. I even pull out the recipes for the different meals and clip them to the menu so he can find them easily. I’m new to following your blog, but love it! You have some great recipes that my entire family has loved. Thanks so much for opening your life to complete strangers!

I just had knee replacement surgery and I haven’t had much of an appetite since I came home (I’m told because of the anesthesia and the pain pills I’m on). Maybe it’s just too difficult to get up and go to the kitchen for every little hunger pang! Anyway I’ve lost 13 lbs. and I intend to continue. When my knee will allow me I will start a walking routine (which I haven’t been able to do for over a year)! Thanks for putting this scale give away on your blog – it sure would be nice to have one!

I am always looking for snack ideas–great suggestions. Something else I struggle with is what to eat for lunch–what are your go to meals?

Vicki January 12, 2010 at 9:30 am

I read your weight loss story and am using some of your ideas for my own journey. My resolution is to lose 15 lbs and be in a healthier place by June when the husband and I are thinking we might want to add a second child to our family! So far, I am only on my second week and the weight loss was minimal last week. But I only started keeping track of what I ate last week and am incorporating 30 mins of exercise this week. Hopefully I will see a bit more than minimal at the end of the week! I use http://www.caloriecount.about.com to track my food each day… The scale would help me incredibly for my dinners, which we make at home and are not preportioned! Thanks!

Thanks so much for the chance to win this awesome scale! I’m happy to report that I’m down 1 lb. It’s not coming off fast, but after having major back surgery recently, I’m very limited on what I can do! So far, I’ve been doing very well this year. I’ve been watching what I eat, stopping when I’m satisfied, have not had any sodas in weeks (never been a big soda drinker to begin with, but cutting it out completely) and over all more conscious of my choices. I was motivated by your post on losing weight and I hope that I have the same success!

Thanks again for the chance to win and for your motivation!!!
