2 New Themes & How to make your own!

Happy 2009! Since it’s officially a new year, I guess it’s time to update my blog theme to a new, wintry design! :) If you’re viewing this from your feed reader or email, be sure and click here so you can see the new theme. :)

cute winter blog design theme

This theme was made from several different kits- all from awesome digital designers who use the Pea Fonts in their digital scrapbooking kits!! :)

The brown and white dotted paper is from The Vintage Candy Cane Collection By Crystal Wilkerson — I used her red dot paper and changed the color to brown.

The red & brown striped scalloped paper is from the Joy Mini Kit by the Golden Girls — I used a hue/saturation layer in Photoshop to change the colors to match my theme. :)

The *awesome* stitches are from Snow Day by Megan Turnidge (I love these stitches!!)

The distressed edge/photo overlays are from Danielle’s Worn Photo Overlays 2

All the other miscellaneous items (like the snowflakes, buttons, glitter, etc) can be found in one of the aforementioned kits. :)

To make everything match, I had to change the colors on a couple elements. Here’s a pretty useful video tutorial I found on how to change the color of a digital scrapbook element (click on the POD graphic by the blog title to watch). :)

I also updated the Recipe Blog theme! I love the new theme– much easier to read and has some cool new features. Be sure and check out the Top 5 Recipes located in the sidebar to the right! :)

simple and easy recipes blog

I stumbled up this cool page the other day – SJH Blog Design – Step by Step Tutorials for Customizing Your Blogger/Blogspot Blog. I thought I’d pass this along for those who have been asking how it’s done! :) This site is a good resource. :)

Hope you like all the new updates! Let me know what you think! :D

Love your new winter theme – I especially like that you accomplished the winter feeling without using the typical blue/grey color scheme.

Happy New Year!

Love the new theme! I’ll try to post pics tomorrow… I needed to eat (gotta feed the baby!) and I’m waiting for a few more cabinets to dry before putting them up. Then there’s the whole clean up thing… Did you have a good Christmas?

I love the new theme. The buttons on the sdebar ended up being a great pick ;-) Thanks for your comment on mine. I haven’t mastered the dummy site yet so I think when you checked in I was half way through my changes!! I hope you and Kevin had a great Christmas.

My girlfreind told me about your site so that I could look up receipes. She stated that your site had pictures to go with the food and was fun to look at and inviting. I loved what I saw but I would love to see more. When I looked up appetizers and a few other items – there was only 1 to 2 recipes. I was dissapointed to say the least! I would love to see more. I don’t have much time to surf the internet due to my busy schedule. But for sure just looking at 1 or 2 receipes will not keep me coming back as I would love to view more and use them. I dont’ do scrapbooking, so I hope this helps.

Sincerely Loyce Brammer/ Holland Michigan

Amanda, I really enjoy the new theme you customized to fit your needs. Great selection. I want to do this for my blog, but I have yet to get the courage to do it…but that might change after seeing this. As always, thanks for sharing.

Hi Amanda,

I don’t remember how I came accross your site but since then I kept coming back and reading and copying your style. VERY VERY CUTE and VERY VERY neat. I am not very good with this technology but I am thinking of starting to scrapbook like your style.

Hi,
I was trying your link to sjhblogdesign.blogspot.com and it is private! I used it years and years ago and she had such great tutorials and now I can’t access it! :( Do you have any other links on customizing your blog or maybe a way to contact this lady and get an invite? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
