It’s coooold here tonight- and Kevin is out in it with Miley and Howie at agility class. Last week I thought I was going to have to take my hair dryer to him just to get him thawed out. This week, I’m prepared- when he comes back, he’ll have a hearty bowl of shrimp and sausage gumbo to warm him right up. It’s one of our absolute favorites around here. Made with with fresh vegetables, wild caught gulf shrimp, smoked sausage, and a rich, full-bodied broth over fluffy white rice- it’s rich, filling, just a little bit spicy and whole lotta delicious. :)
And don’t worry, if shrimp isn’t your thing, you can easily substitute with chicken. Or heck- if shrimp is your thing, just go ahead and add the chicken anyway for a indulgent 3-meat gumbo! :)

yum looks so good! I would have not thought to put it on rice, I would have done pasta but rice is much healthier! :)

Yum…that looks delicious! I am going to have to make it sometime soon. Is it figure friendly? (I can go with turkey sausage)…:)
So funny, I just finished up a pot of gumbo a little while ago. We here in Louisiana think of Gumbo as a “staple of life.” :) My recipe is almost identical to yours. Always enjoy visiting your blog!
looks scrumptious!!
btw, i tried your Grilled Chicken Pasta in a Tomato Cream sauce without the cream (cos i ran out at the time) and i thought it would just taste like normal tomato based pasta, but it didn’t! it had a certain spice to it for some reason and my boyfriend loved it!
maybe you could do a post on Picnic Necessities? Like, recommended recipes!

YUM! Tried this the other night and it was SOOOOO delicious! Although, I couldn’t find the file powder ANYWHERE. It was still just as delicious. Too bad there’s so much butter…I would’ve eaten it everyday!
