Why I Love My Vacuum Cleaner (Giveaway!)

Neato Robot Vacuum Cleaner Review

This is our new robot helper around the house, whom we’ve affectionately named Mr. MagNeato. He’s the Neato XV-21 Robot Vacuum cleaner, and he sucks up dirt and dust like a magnet! We added the Boston Terrier sticker ourselves, but personally I think they should come standard. Don’t you? ;)

Neato Robot Vacuum Cleaner Review

1. Vacuum Lines.

Nothing brightens up a room like vacuum lines! I love the Neato because it doesn’t just bounce around the house haphazardly. It uses a laser to scan the room first and map the best, most efficient route before getting to work. The route changes every time it vacuums, so it’s sure to hit every nook and cranny. The Neato knows where it’s been and where it hasn’t, so it won’t miss a spot. As it vacuums, the sensor continues to scan, enabling the robot to navigate furniture, walls, stairs or Miley and Howie.

Neato Robot Vacuum Cleaner Review

2. Powerful

The Neato XV-21 is specially designed for pet owners and allergy sufferers. I am amazed at how powerful the suction is! It doesn’t just push trash on the floor around. It picks it up! I was afraid it wouldn’t work as well as a regular vacuum cleaner, but I am amazed at how clean our carpets look. We did the old vacuum comparison test: We first vacuumed with our regular vacuum cleaner, then set the Neato to work while we put our feet up and relaxed. Look at what all the Neato picked up that our other vacuum left behind! This little compartment needs to be emptied after every use, but it’s so easy to just grab it and dump the dirt in the trash — so much easier than large, fumbly canisters or bags, and you know you’re starting with a clean slate before every single vacuum.

Neato Robot Vacuum Cleaner Review

3. Schedule

You can schedule the Neato to vacuum for you whenever you want — when you’re at work, at the grocery store, or even while you sleep. Put your feet up and relax while Neato does the work! :) (He is just as loud as a regular vacuum cleaner though, so we don’t generally run him while we’re watching TV. :)) Last minute company coming over? Let Neato do the floors while you take care of the bathrooms. He works great on my tile floor as well! Neato can easily maneuver small obstacles such as rugs and door frames, so no need to “babysit” him. I have our Neato scheduled to run at night while we sleep, so we wake up to freshly vacuumed carpets in the morning.

My floors actually look like this all the time now, and all I have to do is press a button!

4. Value

The Neato XV-21 retails for $429.99. I kind of balked at the price at first, until I thought about it. There are several other extremely popular vacuum cleaners on the market right now that retail for upwards of $500-$600. And they don’t do the vacuuming for you! With the Neato, you don’t have to haul out a heavy machine. You don’t have to push it around every single room in your house. You don’t have to wind up the cord and put it away.

The only vacuuming work you’ll ever do from now is press a button.

Neato XV-21 on Amazon.

My kitchen gets cleaned first since that is our main dumping area. Then the bathroom and family room.

203
KellyM August 24, 2012 at 6:48 am

The absolute first thing I clean when company comes over is the downstairs bathroom – yuk! that leads to the hall floor which leads to the kitchen, etc etc etc!!!!!! This would be perfect for my two boston terrors because (as you know!) their pet hair is EVERYWHERE!!!! :)

204
Melissa M August 24, 2012 at 6:48 am

It depends on how much notice I have before they arrive but, like many others, the bathroom gets a wipe down then, hopefully, the dust broom goes around the perimeter of every room to get the dog hair!

Thanks for the chance to win!!! I would love this because I HATE the vacuum that someone gave me for a house warming gift, but I’m too cheap to actually buy one that I would dislike less!

205
Monique August 24, 2012 at 6:49 am

The first thing I clean is the family room and then the kitchen because everyone always seems to gather in those 2 areas.

206
Christina August 24, 2012 at 6:49 am

I start with the bathroom. The vacuuming is the last thing I do. Our house is on the market so I try to leave it with undisturbed lines on the carpet. I vacuum several times a day. I’d love to have this little guy’s help!

207
Jenny August 24, 2012 at 6:49 am

First the main bathroom toilet ;) but I always vacuum too because that makes the house look clean (even when it’s really not)!

Thanks Amanda!

208
Samantha August 24, 2012 at 6:49 am

I have 4 dogs and I feel like every cleaning venture starts with vacuuming! I need one of these to run everyday in my house! LOL.

209
Jenny August 24, 2012 at 6:49 am

I always load the dishwasher and vacuum!

210
Laura August 24, 2012 at 6:51 am

I pick up any clutter first, then I clean the kitchen and bathroom.

The vacuum looks so much cooler with the sticker. ;)

211
Sarah N August 24, 2012 at 6:52 am

The first thing I clean is is the living room. We lived with some friends for a couple of months and the first thing she always cleaned was HER bedroom – and usually didn’t make it to other more important rooms. Cracked me up!

Thanks for the great giveaway!

212
Kayla August 24, 2012 at 6:52 am

The kitchen. It’s usually a mess!

213
Tiffani August 24, 2012 at 6:53 am

The dishes!

214
Linda August 24, 2012 at 6:53 am

I always begin with the kitchen and then vacuum the floors.

215

Wow! That looks great! I put it on my wishlist! Thank you!

216
Marci August 24, 2012 at 6:54 am

I always begin by dusting in the living room at the back of the house and work my way to the front.

217
Lea Dorrett August 24, 2012 at 6:54 am

The Kitchen! It’s the first room you walk into and it’s the catch all for everything! How did you ever get your dogs to model with the vaccuum?

218
Stephanie August 24, 2012 at 6:55 am

I definitely vacuum first and then hit the bathrooms. Thanks for the giveaway!

219
Shelli August 24, 2012 at 6:56 am

The kitchen/ dining area. It’s the first room you see in our house and it’s always a hot mess. Then it’s picking up baby doll accessories across the living room and making sure the bathroom doesn’t resemble a public restroom. Ha!

220
Deborah August 24, 2012 at 6:56 am

My floors! With 2 kids, 2 cats, a dog and a husband who never takes his shoes off, my floors are always dirty!

221
sonia troche August 24, 2012 at 6:57 am

223
sue imming August 24, 2012 at 6:57 am

Wow, I’m impressed, do I ever need this!!! 2 floor house and 1 vaccum, up and down the steps and I’m getting too old for this. I need this badly.

224
Lauren D August 24, 2012 at 6:57 am

I always clean my floors before someone comes over, with a lab and a toddler it’s a must! This would be perfect for us, especially since baby #2 will be here in just a few weeks!!

225
Analisa W. August 24, 2012 at 6:58 am

Bathrooms! I hate the thought that someone would lift the toilet seat and find dried stains from my 5 year old’s miss fire ;) I would love to own one of these vacuums! Thanks for the great giveaway!!

226
Kristin August 24, 2012 at 6:58 am

I always clean the bathroom first. It’s the only room that guests are in alone and have a minute to look around.

227
chelsea August 24, 2012 at 6:59 am

My kitchen floor. It is gross, old, white tile that never stays clean. Someday it will be gone…

228
Darcie August 24, 2012 at 7:00 am

The kitchen and bathrooms! What a great product!

229
Lindsay August 24, 2012 at 7:01 am

230

232

234
Timorah August 24, 2012 at 7:02 am

This sounds amazing! When company is coming I start with the kitchen! It is the center of our home and often gathers clutter – shoes, mail, etc. I feel better when It is orderly. Thanks for the opportunity!

235
Terry August 24, 2012 at 7:02 am

Vacuum the red Oriental rug in the den (you would think it was made from Jack Russell fur)!!
WDE!!!!

236
bevin August 24, 2012 at 7:03 am

Awesome giveaway!

237

238

239
Kathy Moran August 24, 2012 at 7:04 am

240
Kindel August 24, 2012 at 7:05 am

Yes, yes, yes! I have a cat and dog so we ALWAYS have little furball tumbleweeds all over the hardwood floors. I would love for a machine to chase those around instead of me! :)

When company comes over, I usually start in the kitchen because that’s the first room guests see!

241
Julie August 24, 2012 at 7:05 am

The first thing I clean when company comes over is the living room. It’s the first room they see and if I can keep them confined there then I don’t have to clean as much in the other rooms. :)

242
Michelle August 24, 2012 at 7:06 am

The Living Room is a must! That is where everything seems to STOP and never get’s to it’s proper place! Thanks again Amanda for an awesome giveaway! :)

243
Alison August 24, 2012 at 7:06 am

I usually start with the family room.

244
Lori Sullivan August 24, 2012 at 7:08 am

I would love to not have to vacuum. I have 2 kids and a dog. Needless to say we track in a lot.

245
Debra Parker August 24, 2012 at 7:09 am

The first room I clean when company is coming is the family room, where I do most of my sewing. I need a good vacuum to pick up all those little threads and dropped pins out of the carpet! Thanks for the opportunity!

246
Beth in SC August 24, 2012 at 7:09 am

Oh my gosh. I love freshly cleaned floors in the morning. Well… I would if I knew what felt like. :) Love the review and I’m crossing my fingers for a Neato Win! :)

247

248

Definitely the bathrooms! Would be great to win this, I’ve had a Roomba for 5 yrs. and it just went out.

250
Erin August 24, 2012 at 7:09 am

Our kitchen family room has 4 doors!! lots of door to the space we entertain in the most! SO those floors our the first thing I have to clean before company!! then check the 1/2 bath… with 3 kids you never know!!! Great giveaway- I have been shopping around for a vacuum! and was checking this out!

251
Kristen Cunningham August 24, 2012 at 7:10 am

I grab all of the clutter in the room by the front door and throw it into the closet! I would love this vacuum because it is so small and I have no place to keep my other one on the first level!

252
Dar August 24, 2012 at 7:10 am

First thing I clean…floors! Being a mommy to a fur baby it seems vacuuming is a must! Otherwise, the fur will fly! I’m also an allergy sufferer and anything to aide in that is a win-win!

253
Cindy August 24, 2012 at 7:10 am

The kitchen and dining room for sure. My daughter has two cats and a dog and I am constantly vacuuming—even when there is no company on the way. This vacuum looks neat-o.

254
Jamee @ A New Kind of Normal August 24, 2012 at 7:11 am

We have two dogs as well and are ALWAYS having to vacuum up the tumbleweeds of fun that seem to always exist in our house! This would be AWESOME!

255
Jamee @ A New Kind of Normal August 24, 2012 at 7:12 am

Forgot to fully answer the question – vacuum the living area thanks to the pooches!

256
Kim Thorne August 24, 2012 at 7:17 am

When company is coming each member of my family mans there “battle station”. My daughter gets the clutter into baskets for each family member and puts it on their rooms. My husband hits the grocery store to shop for food and drinks. Son number one dusts and vacuums. Son number 2 cleans the bathroom. I tackle the kitchen floor, counters and sink while waiting on food to come in. Then I prepare food while everyone else finishes cleaning and getting ready. This vacuum would really help since son 1 is headed to college and we will miss his vacuuming!

257
Elizabeth August 24, 2012 at 7:17 am

I have been wishing for a vacuum robot for YEARS! So excited! I always clean the bathroom first and pick up toys. But the floors are saved for last so they are as pristine as can be when people walk in. (I like seeing minimal footprints on freshly vacuumed floors, don’t you?)

258
bakingblonde August 24, 2012 at 7:18 am

I would clean our main bathroom and our living room first!

259
Lindsay August 24, 2012 at 7:18 am

The first thing we do is pick up the living room!

260
Michael Cassell August 24, 2012 at 7:18 am

Kitchen because we enjoy to cook and mess it up even more.

261
Danielle August 24, 2012 at 7:19 am

First I vacuum the cat hair off the couch, then the kitchen, then bathrooms, then floors if I still have time.

262
Mary Katharin August 24, 2012 at 7:20 am

Den then living room and kitchen

263
Patricia Williams August 24, 2012 at 7:20 am

The kitchen first and then the downstairs bathroom. I have 2 little guys so it gets cleaned daily away, but touched up for company.

264
Kelly B. August 24, 2012 at 7:20 am

I always start with the guest bathroom; it’s quick and easy to clean. Thanks for the giveaway!

265
Risë August 24, 2012 at 7:20 am

I always start with the bathroom and then straighten and fluff all the cushions in the living room. I then grab the swiffer duster and do a quick swipe around the main living area. Lastly I pick up clutter on the kitchen counter. My husband (who is our house cleaner) is always complaining about the cat hair he gets up every time he vacuums and mops. This little vacuum would be a life saver for him.

266
Sara August 24, 2012 at 7:20 am

I always clean the kitchen first because company always seems to congregate there over good food and wine.

267
sandy morris August 24, 2012 at 7:20 am

I vacuum my family room first, then dining, then kitchen, and then bedrooms. i would love this very cool machine

268

269
KerryH August 24, 2012 at 7:21 am

I’m so excited to enter!! I need this!! My floors are definitely the first thing I clean when company is coming. I have two dogs that manage to track in dirt from outside, even after wiping off their paws. When the floors are freshly vacuumed, it gives the entire home an overall clean feel. :)

270
Niki F August 24, 2012 at 7:22 am

I always clean the toilets first!

271
ruth a. kelly August 24, 2012 at 7:22 am

I start with the floors. If the floors are clean it makes the whole house sparkle! Company coming – grab the vacuum and get that layer of dust and of course dog hair that’s on the carpet and the wood and tile floors. Wow, this NEATO would make the job sooooo much easier. Swish the commodes, micro cloth the flat surfaces and voila – who knew a vintage-clean house could be that easy – and with a whole new and modern cleaning device! And with a stay-in-bed stew in the oven, ready to serve, your company will never want to leave!! Neat -o!!!!

272
Mason August 24, 2012 at 7:22 am

I clean the bathroom and make sure I get the switch plates and door knobs and the door jambs. Then the kitchen! Thanks for the give away! Keep up the good work.

273
Lynette August 24, 2012 at 7:22 am

Definitely the living room since that’s where we would hang out. Then, the kitchen because you can see the kitchen from the living room.

274
Sara K. August 24, 2012 at 7:23 am

I usually clean the dining room first – so we’ll have places to sit and eat!

275
Lee Anne August 24, 2012 at 7:23 am

I clean the kitchen first because it’s the first thing they see!

276
Isabel Warrell August 24, 2012 at 7:23 am

Honestly I clean the bathrooms first. But since I have a dog too no cleaning is complete without a hitting the carpets. Thanks for the giveaway!

277
Jane Toms August 24, 2012 at 7:23 am

I start by picking up the obvious clutter then make sure the bathrooms are clean. It would be great to have a robot to do the floors though!

278
Vicki August 24, 2012 at 7:24 am

My mudroom and big kitchen as that’s where the dog hair starts and blows in through the house it seems….

279
Katie August 24, 2012 at 7:24 am

I clean the toilets and bathrooms.

280
Candi August 24, 2012 at 7:24 am

The first thing I do when company is coming over…or heaven forbid someone rings the doorbell….is PANIC! I have 5…yes count ‘em, five cats! Needless to say, cat hair is on every single surface of my home! I think it would be quite amusing to watch the cats reaction’s to the Neato. They act like godzilla just walked in the door when I crank up the old hoover.

281
Julie August 24, 2012 at 7:25 am

Sweep the wood floors in the kitchen and then vacuum because I love to see those vacuum lines too!!

282
Kel August 24, 2012 at 7:26 am

Ha – definitely the bathrooms! And empty the garbage everywhere.

283
Heather D August 24, 2012 at 7:26 am

We have an island in our kitchen and it has become our drop-off spot for everything! It really collects a LOT of stuff so it’s always the first thing to clean. After that it’s the rest of the kitchen and of course the living room.
Thanks for a great giveaway!

284
Kayla August 24, 2012 at 7:26 am

The first thing is the floor. It’s always in need of vacuum especially with 2 toddlers at home.

285
Molly August 24, 2012 at 7:27 am

Ahhh the kitchen! With 3 little boys, you never know what might be on the floor or smeared on the chairs!

286
Vanessa August 24, 2012 at 7:27 am

I clean my kitchen first – it’s the room company first walk in to. I can’t have a bad impression right off the bat!

287
Rose August 24, 2012 at 7:27 am

Is the Neato for real? I would LUV to put it to the test in my living room!

288
Jules August 24, 2012 at 7:28 am

I first pick up all the dog toys! Then vacuum. I love this giveaway, thank you Amanda!

289
Gayla August 24, 2012 at 7:28 am

Love seeing those vacuum lines in the carpet, makes me feel like the entire house is clean!

291
Sandy August 24, 2012 at 7:29 am

I clean the bathroom first. Then on to the rest of the house.

292
Thais August 24, 2012 at 7:31 am

When company is coming it’s always the bathrooms first, then the vacuuming. With the Neato I could truly multi-task and do two things at once!!! Wow. Thanks for the give-away Amanda. I do think every Neato should come standard with a Boston Terrier sticker.
Thais

293
Denisse August 24, 2012 at 7:31 am

I always make sure kitchen and bathroom are spotless…just like my momma taught me! And of course, the front entrance and living room (first impressions always count!). Hope I can win this, it will be nice for a change that after a long day at work and picking up the kid from child care, sports activities and whatnot and running ’round like all mommys do nowadays, you found that your living quarters are all clean. :)

294
Rene August 24, 2012 at 7:31 am

The first thing I clean when company is coming is the Family Room. That’s where we spend most of our time.

295
Debbie in S. Florida August 24, 2012 at 7:32 am

Ahhh, Amanda, you always have the best giveaways! I’d love to win this. I don’t have dogs, but I do have two kids, which is about the same, lol! Thanks for the chance. Love your red slipcovered sofa!

296
Sara K. D. August 24, 2012 at 7:32 am

Always clean the bathrooms first….nobody wants to see ‘science projects’.

297
Georgia August 24, 2012 at 7:32 am

The kids’ toys! What a great giveaway!

298
Connie K August 24, 2012 at 7:32 am

Wow, Neato!
The first thing I do when I have unexpected guests coming over is to do a quick pickup in the living room and dining room, since that is what people see when they first walk in. This usually means picking up all the baby toys, baby clothes, and other assorted baby paraphernalia that is usually scattered around when the baby is awake!
Thanks for the great giveaway!
Connie

299
Julie G August 24, 2012 at 7:33 am

I usually go for the kitchen – it’s so close to the entrance and when it’s clean, it looks really nice.

300
Melody August 24, 2012 at 7:33 am

wow! — What a marvelous invention this auto-vac is! Thank you for the chance to win one in this giveaway! Our lhasa-poo would think it’s a new toy to chase…
When I know company is coming, I vacuum the living room & make sure the dishes are washed.

301
kimber August 24, 2012 at 7:34 am
