Hey guys! Guess what time it is! :) Thought I’d give you an update on the scrapbook room / office in the new house today! :)
This room is very much still in progress. I haven’t moved all of my stuff in here yet. It’s still pretty empty at this point. But there definitely has been a ton of progress made since we moved in, so I thought I’d give you an update on what we’ve got so far. :)
The first thing you’ll notice is the cabinets!! :) They’re new! :)
My dad designed and built these gorgeous cabinets to go above the desk. He made this desk for me when Kevin and I first got married and moved into our first house almost 11 years ago, and it’s still going strong. :) For the new house, he updated the drawer fronts on the desk to match the new cabinet doors.
Here’s one of my favorite new features… What’s behind that big cabinet door. :)
Pull-out shelves for my printer, scanner, and Silhouette cutter!
I love having everything right at my fingertips! :)
Here’s a closer look :)
And when I’m done, everything is hidden and tucked away back into the cabinet.
Even the cords are all hidden behind the shelves.
There’s even room for extra printer paper under the printer shelf.
And the cabinet door closes for a clean look.
All the cabinet doors have self-closing hinges, so even with a big heavy door, the doors don’t slam, and the glass won’t break from shutting the cabinet door too hard.
Here’s my favorite favorite thing. No wires under the desk!!! :)
Here’s a dreadful before. It was a huge jumbled pile of cords, wires, power cables with those big black boxes, and a huge surge protector. There was nowhere to stretch out my legs. I had to keep them tucked under my chair all day like I was on a tiny airplane. No legroom!
Here’s where they are now: Hidden away in the corner storage unit under the desk.
The power strip / surge protector is mounted to the back wall of the cabinet, and the cords feed through a small opening. This way they’re easily accessible and there’s still plenty of room for storage space under the desk. :)
Now we all know those beautiful Pinterest homes don’t have cords, lol! But real ones do! Here’s what it looks like behind the scenes. :)
On the other side of the desk, there’s another cabinet on the right with three big bookshelves for storage.
And finally, here’s one more favorite feature. :) A pull-out tray for my paper cutter.
It used to take up space on the back corner of my desk, and there was always something piled on top of it. Whenever I needed to use it, I would first have to clear off the cutter, then clean off a space on my desk and move the trimmer to where I could reach it. Stuff would be moved to the floor, my chair, shoved in a corner, where ever there was any open space. It was a hassle. So when we started designing the new scrapbook room, I knew one feature that I really wanted was a dedicated space for the cutter so I could just pull it out and use it whenever I needed it.
Now I have my full desk back and the cutter is always ready to use. When I need to use it, I don’t have to clean it off or move it, I simply slide out the shelf, cut, and put it away.

Hi Amanda,
I am stund about the pull out cutting station. Great idea! My cutting tools are always covered up. This is an awesome plan. I can’t wait to read more about your thoughts. It’s 2020 and these other comments are from 2013 are so genuine. I am getting back into trying to organize more, so I can find stuff! Thank you for sharing. You had some wonderful people leaving feedback and you answered them. wOw!
Amazing, just a little advice, the paper will fade even from the room lights so you may want to cover the glass to prevent that , sad that it fades so bad because it looks so pretty out in rainbow color
This space is amazing! I love all of it. Enjoy.
Question….. What printer would you recommend? I am in need of a new one because mine won’t feed the heavier paper like sticker paper…..
Love the pull-out tray for the paper cutter! And how the cords are stored! Great ideas and I’m very glad I found your blog.
Love your new space. Clean, bright and ever so efficient. Would like this for my sewing room.
Will you be sharing anymore pictures of your scrapbook room? I am setting up a new room/office for my scrapbooking, and I need help! I wish I could get my room to be greatly organized so I am not wasting time searching for what I need.
Thanks Amanda…..I sure do miss seeing your new home and decorating!
Hi, Did your Dad make the pull out shelves as well? If so, would you mind sharing where he purchased the hardware and if not where you purchased them? Thanks! :)
My craft room is getting an update and I have been looking for new storage ideas. I am so loving your printer, scanner, cutter station!!! My hubby is a great woodworker too like your dad and I’m tucking that idea away until I can figure out how to use it in my space. Thanks for sharing!
Love this, so inspiring… we bought a new house 2 months ago and I’m going to be converting the front formal livingroom into a big craft/homeschooling room and hope to emulate the look you have going! I know you referenced your older post for the paper organizers behind the glass doors but if you & your amazing dad ever feel up to it I’d LOVE LOVE LOVE to see a small tutorial on how he made them, guessing a tablesaw or router to make the slots? I’d love specifics so I could give it a try myself!
Now, this is organization! Oh, how I love this. This will be my next project. This is so cleaver.
Amanda – what are the dimensions of your new scrapbook room?? Love the cabinets and desk! Thanks for sharing the PDF
Great ideas. I am always looking for ways to hide cables for my clients. Great pictures too.
WOW ! It is perfect – I envy :-(
You are really blessed!
Beautiful! Your dad is a talented guy.

Oh how I would love such an organized space. Love what cabinets
Gorgeous! Your dad did a fantastic job. I love all the pull out (but hidden) drawers & tools. So, my biggest question…do you actually still scrapbook? :)
I am in love with those cabinets and all that orgainzation
I think I love your Dad. Wow, so awesome! Congrats Amanda.
Looks fantastic!
Do you do Project Life (by Becky HIggins)? If not, you are missing out!!
Amanda, it’s so pretty! I love all the storage solutions and how fresh and clean it looks.
LOVE IT!!!
Your office is to die for…especially with no wires all tangled and noticeable to the world. How the heck did you pack all those wires so neatly and orderly?? Absolutely love the desk and cabinets made by your dad, it looks amazing. Can’t wait to see more of your house updates
Soooooo awesome! Wish I had the finances to afford doing something similar for my quilting she cave.
I didn’t know you were a scrapbooker too… I haven’t read your blog for that long so I thought you were just a foodie and interior designer (and a great photographer too! Thanks for all your photo tips). Now I am curious, how do you organize your supplies? I am sure you have tons! Are they all hidden in drawers?
This is a really old post, but you can get a glimpse inside my drawers here. They’re still pretty much the same! :) Amanda’s Scrapbook Desk
Can I borrow your dad? He did a great job!
This is amazing, I’m having craft room envy right now, haha. :)
Amanda — so exciting to see your new scrapbook room! I first started following you when I found your old scrapbook room when I was searching for storage ideas for my room. Getting ready to update my room soon and love the desk & unit above!
Thanks!
I love it. We have a home that we are trying to purchase that has a enclosed porch. I hope to use it as a craft room. It won’t be this pretty but I’ll have space to do crafts so that will be good. LOVE THIS!
You’d better not leak your dad’s name because he’ll wake up and have a line of scrapin’ ladies with plans for their dream room out front! (My mom included! HA!)
I’m seriously envious of how well organized you are Amanda!
Love, love, love! This is exactly what I’m been trying to describe to my husband for the pull out shelving for printer etc.. Your dad does great work and I’m sure it means a lot to you to have him build for you. Happy scrapping and such in your new happy room! :)
Amanda,
I love the room. Your dad did a great job on the cabinets. With all the great features, this is what I say is a true custom built cabinet system. You can tell a great deal of thought and love went into the making of the cabinets. Enjoy your new space!
This is the post I’ve been dying for! I found your site a couple of years ago when searching for scrapbook rooms…..I loved your blue room at the old house and was curious what you were going to do at the new house. Please share some pages you create with us soon!! Love this new space, so very lovely!
Wow! This is a gorgeous room so far! In the photos the walls look like a yellow, are they more yellow than taupe? I’m thinking of making my room yellow as it’s my favorite color! I love the pull out shelves, and that desk is to die for! So pretty and organized. Can’t wait to see the finished room! :)
Thank you Stephanie! It’s more taupe. It’s a gorgeous taupe and I love it, but it’s definitely more taupe! :)
I love this! So handy that you have a dad who can (and will) help you with those kinds of things! Beautiful!
I, like Andi, would like to see the inside of the glass cabinets a little closer. I love your organized paper storage and wonder if it could be duplicated (with the help of a handy husband and some begging). What an awesome, cheerful and organized place to craft.
Amanda,
What a perfect space!!! I love it, I love your dad! Is he close to Nashville? All of us want a set up like this. Love the pull outs for the paper cutter and all your printers, and I hate cords showing-it is so clean and beautiful!! What did you use for the colored stickers that show your colors of paper, I have never seen colored adhesive sticker paper. Looks awesome, thank-you so much for sharing with us!!!
WOW Amanda! This is a scrapbookers dream! So clean and organized, love it!
AHHHHHH I totally love it! I didn’t think you were still scrapping! That is awesome! I can’t wait to se some layouts!
Absolutely love this! I will be using this as inspiration for my new craft room!
WOW! very impressive – love it.

This is beautiful! If my blog room/office was half this organized I’d want to spend all day in it! :)
Your dad is very talented!! The cabinets looks great. Can you share a picture of the paper inside the glass front top cabinet? Just wondered what you had the paper stored in/on. Love the dedicated paper cutter pull-out, and especially the hidden power strip. I will be showing that to DH tonight!
Hi Lori! They are paper holders that my dad made. You can see them more here: Amanda’s Scrapbook Room. They are sitting on the shelves. Hope this helps! :)
LOVE IT!!!
Fantastic paper crafting work space. Your Dad’s cabinetry skills are tremendous!
Love it! Can dad make a visit to Savannah, GA?? : )
Enjoy the new organized space.
Love the set-up!! Please please do a blog on how you have everything organized and what is behind all the closed doors and in the closed drawers!!
Love your setup, I have the room, now can I borrow your Dad ? Lol
What are you using to store the paper in the glass front cabinets? I am in desperate need of ideas for paper storage! My current system is JUST.NOT.WORKING!
Hi Andi! They are paper holders that my dad made. You can see them more here: Amanda’s Scrapbook Room. They are sitting on the shelves. Hope this helps! :)
Wow- it looks awesome- so neat and tidy! Give your Dad a big hug for a job well done! Have lots of fun in your new scrapping room!
Great Dad!!! Lucky you! Loved the hidden sliding shelves – I did the same for my cricut and big format printer, following an idea I saw at “Atypical Type A” blog, using Ikea kitchen cabinets.
Loved the cords hidden inside too, you gave me ideas, I HATE cords showing and couldn’t find a nice solution…
Congratulations and God bless you in your new home! Happiness and health for you!
So glad you are still planning on doing some scrapbooking! I didn’t think you would have time anymore. Your scrapbook room in your first house was the first dedicated craft room I had ever seen pictures of, and it was my inspiration for my own craft room. Your dad is the best!!! I don’t have room for the pullout shelves now, but if we ever move or remodel, I definitely want those! Can’t wait to see the rest when you’re finished!
Jeanie
Thanks for sharing these photos! I’ve been dying to see your scrapbook space. Your room at the old was was so inspiring–I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of this wonderful room! I just bought a house, myself, and haven’t even started setting up my scrapbooking space… You’re inspiring me!
What a great room! Will you be sharing how you organize
all your supplies? I am setting up a new space for scrapbook
supplies. And I need help! I wish I could get my room to be greatly
organized so I am not wasting time searching for
what I need. Thanks Amanda!
Oh my what a great space…and great Dad I might add. To be that organized would be wonderful.
What a beautiful space. Thanks for sharing it. I love the shelves for your scanner/printer/silhouette and also the shelf for your paper cutter.
Love all the attention to details. So organized! Love it!
Random question – I’m looking to get a new scanner. Do you like yours and what kind is it?
Hey girl! Mine is about a thousand years old, but it still works fine! :) It is an Epson Perfection 3200 Photo scanner. Hope this helps!! :)
