Five Things

my-favorite-things-01

I grabbed this pair of turquoise earrings at Francesca’s Collections a few weeks ago and I love them. I love the color. They’ve also got them on their website in a bright sunny yellow. Gorgeous.

I’m loving this simple wash-off waterproof mascara from Avon. It’s what my friend Maria wears, and she always has the most gorgeous, natural looking eyelashes.

my-favorite-things-03

I’ve been wearing it for a few weeks and I’m really liking it so far. I got one in black and brown. My lashes look long and natural (it doesn’t clump on my lower lashes), and it washes off completely. The best part about this mascara? It routinely goes on sale for two for $8. Seriously? A $4 mascara that I love this much? I need to stock up.

The next time I get a pedicure, I think I’m going to go with this hot pink fuchsia color.

Walmart has their new summer scents for plug-in warmers! Have you seen these yet? Here are a few scents I picked up last weekend.

my-favorite-things-06

Wild Berry Cheesecake. Delicious. I melted this two nights ago and yesterday afternoon the room still smelled like blueberry cheesecake.

my-favorite-things-07

These two are heaven. Just heaven. So warm and light.

my-favorite-things-08

This one deviates from my usual bakery scent preference, but it ever-so-slightly reminded me of Seductive Woods, a wonderfully scrumptious, all-encapsulating, now discontinued candle from Victoria’s Secret.

Of course the scents I gravitate towards aren’t classically “summer” scents anyway, but they do have a few of those too. Like a delightful Sugared Melon Kiwi that smells just like watermelon bubblegum. Fun!

my-favorite-things-09

I went kayaking this weekend and my friend brought these. What a great snack. The yogurt covered raisins were my favorite. And I could eat that granola all day long. Good and filling.

And guess what else they have…

my-favorite-things-10

S’mores!

my-favorite-things-11

Now if you get the S’mores, here’s what you do. Get one of each: a cocoa roasted almond, marshmallow, graham cracker bite, granola and M&M and… pop it all in one bite!

Enjoy!

I’m trying really, really hard not to comment on your blog, but I *had* to on this one. I got married on this day. My husband and I walked downtown Santa Fe to the plaza with our children. Our son yelled out, “My parents are getting married!!!!” to anyone and everyone who’d listen, and more to those who wouldn’t listen. We were all barefoot in honor of Tom’s Barefoot Day. I love this post. I adore that it began with the turquoise for which our adopted state is known.

I love the Breakfast On the Go! snack, it certainly holds up the growling hungry tummy in the morning :)
How are those Better Home scents? I want to see how much they compare to Scentsy products. I already know that the Better Home holders and scents are much cheaper, but want to know if they are equally as long lasting.

  3. Christie

You should use the Scenty ones… they last WAY longer than the Walmart ones and are much stronger! :) I’m sure you’ve heard of them, but if you haven’t you should check them out!

  4. Shelby

I love the Wal-Mart scents too! They are so much more affordable that my usual Wallflowers and scented oils from Bath and Body Works. My favorite so far is the Coconut, the Lilac and the Apple Streusel. They really need a chocolate chip cookie one! :)

  5. Tracy Smith

I love your random 5 things. Who knew Walmart carried BHG plugins? NOT ME! But now I do. Thanks a bunch.
Now I’m off to check out the mascara.

I live in Puerto Rico where there are plenty of waterfalls to photograph and I’m deff. going to try it out…

Those earrings are very cute! Love the turquoise color. And I’ve just recently discovered yogurt raisins as well! They are so yummy. I love the strawberry flavored ones. They’re to die for.

I have to find the smores granola…now!!!!!

I’ve been trying to find a candle/scent warmer/room freshner that smells exactly like coppertone sunscreen. Yankee candle has one that’s almost right…but not quite.
I’m *this close* to just pouring the sunscreen in a little warmer thingy just to see what happens but I don’t actually want to burn down the house. I just want it to smell like vacation….and resort pools….with waiters that bring you drinks….Wouldn’t that be divine!

I always love your pictures!!! They are amazing!! If you have a minute I would love to hear what you have to say about mine, I’m new in this photography and blogging thing, and always use your advice when it comes to photo

  15. Becky

Okay – I have to go search walmart for those wax things. I haven’t seen them there yet and I always spend a fortune on the Scentsy ones. Also loving those earrings – very springy.

  16. Kara

This was a rather fun post! Since I am a photographer I enjoyed the photographs as well as the products and descriptions. The granola is making me hungry…

  17. Alexa @ Simple Eats

I love Francesca’s, I have on in my mall here in Boston and I drool every time I go in! I LOVE hearing about additions to your candle/scent collection, you always seem to have the most yummy-smelling things!

  18. Kelly @ Dare to be Domestic

Point #1: We went kayaking this weekend too! I guess after all that rain it as a blessing right? We had a great time on Sunday.

Point #2: I wondered about those warming tarts at Walmart. Knowing how much you love candles and how much you liked these I can feel secure that purchasing them will be worth it! Thank you!

Point #3 and 4: I love those earrings and I must get that mascara!!!

  19. Marcia

Thanks for the info on the mascara. I’m always looking for one that not only doesn’t clump, but also does not smudge. Between all the creams I use around my eyes and living in such a high humidity climate, I have a very hard time finding a mascara that does not smudge.

Does this mascara smudge under the eyes???

  20. Georgia @ The Comfort of Cooking

What a fun feature! I love the sound of all those scents – I can practically smell ’em from here! Thanks for sharing. You have a beautiful blog and I’m looking forward to exploring your recipes! :)

  21. Crystal

I just love when you post about certain things you’ve bought and liked. I recently bought some Scentsy items myself, and I had no idea that WalMart sells scents for those plug-in warmers! I cannot wait to go buy some. And that Breakfast on the Go mix looks awesome……

    Thanks for the great suggestions!

  22. Emma @ She Got Married

I love mascara. Too much. It’s pretty much all I wear, and I have a huge collection. I’m going to have to try this wash off mascara, because I’ve always avoided waterproof.

  23. Susan Kay

Love the earrings!! Will have to try the mascara – tired of buying the expensive ones and then being disappointed in the results. The snacks are AMAZING!! I love the yogurt raisins, too. Kindred spirits. Thanks for a delightful post.

  24. Claudia

I just stopped by Francesca’s Collections yesterday and didn’t see those! Must be the preschooler pulling me out that made me miss them, they’re gorgeous! I’m on a turquoise kick.

  25. Urban Wife

There is such thing as wash off waterproof mascara?! I can’t believe I haven’t known about this until today. That is AWESOME! :)

  26. may

Thnx for the info on the wax cubes. Does the scent really last? I have tried the oils u burn, Glade candles and some of the plug-ins and the scent does not last. Do u know of any that actually last like, all day?

  27. The Mrs @ Success Along the Weigh

Thanks for the awesome tip on the mascara! I was irritated when I bought my latest tube with the price. (Lash Stiletto (sp?) and it practically takes mineral spirits to remove that stuff!) I will definitely go bookmark that mascara for when my concrete…err…mascara runs out!

  28. Jessica

the granola looks delicious, thanks for the tip I’m going to have to get some. The scents sound great, but I think I would be hungry all the time with the smell of baked apple strudel wafting through the air in my house.

  29. Lauren

I love those earrings! I’d love to see the yellow, they’d be so pretty for summer.

Funny thing- I also love the Emerald Nuts Breakfast pouches, but I *hate* the yogurt raisins! I throw them out! haha, maybe I should send you mine. :)

  30. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga)

The earrings are sooo pretty! And Ive never worn Avon’s mascara but i swear by the maybelline pink & green tube mascara that’s like $4.99 at any drugstore. Better than the most expensive mascaras, IMO! :) Need to try the Avon one.

  31. MacLeod House

Oh my gosh those scents look amazing! We don’t get that kind of variety down here, in Africa, where everything is either ‘floral’ or ‘fresh’ :) I must admit though, if my house smelled like blueberry cheescake, I’d be tempted to start baking immediately!
