my paring knife!!! it is the ONLY knife i own, save for silverware-set knives, which are kind of just there and not actually effective. i use my paring knife for everything… chopping, dicing, carving meats, … everything! i could not function in my kitchen without it.

2
Emily December 2, 2011 at 2:07 am

The herb mill looks amazing! I have only one Microplane in my collection (the zester), but it has held up better than any other similar item I’ve owned.

Hmmm….second to having a “hot” husband, my favorite tool would be….an awesome set of knives that actually work. The knife set I have now isn’t all that great, but they do work and without them, I would be lost.

This is a fantastic giveaway and I thank you for the chance to win!!!!

Warm regards,
Candi in Colorado

I can”t live without my food processor . It makes everything easier! What I want is a deep fryer but that is a dream! I have wanted a micro plane for grating for a long time but just never get around to it! They are the perfect tool for any job! I see them on cooking shows all the time and am so jealous! Maybe this is my moment!

12
Joscelyn Rivers December 2, 2011 at 2:54 am

Averie @ Love Veggies and Yoga December 2, 2011 at 3:01 am

I just did a post about Baking Supplies (and the post before that was my new camera/computer backup and I linked up your video that you did on the bag…I am lovin’ the new bag. Traveling tomorrow so hopefully I love it in the airport!) but my fave kitchen tool is a really sharp knife. I use that 20+ times a day!

17
Shelly December 2, 2011 at 3:03 am

I can’t live without my wooden spoons!

18
Lucy Lane December 2, 2011 at 3:06 am

My vegetable peeler was my best friend for Thanksgiving!
I have two peelers, one is nice & sharp the other very dull.
I had hubby using the dull one and I used the sharp, clever huh?
Its not like he knew any better. LOL.

19
jean December 2, 2011 at 3:06 am

it’s gonna be my food processor as it does more than one job for me! such an awesome appliance :)

20
Kiran @ KiranTarun.com December 2, 2011 at 3:10 am

Amazing giveaway!

I think every kitchen should have a proper and sharp knives. Nothing is worse than dull kitchen tools ;)

21
Anne December 2, 2011 at 3:11 am

I would have to say my favorite kitchen tool is a Pizzelle Iron. It is a staple in my home. Normally Pizzelle’s are made on or around holidays and special occasions like Christmas or for weddings but on rare occasion I get a request to make a batch. The other nice thing about them is you can use it to make waffle cones for ice cream if you have the rolling cone for it.

22
Larissa pavei December 2, 2011 at 3:16 am

I am all about a peeler. It same saves soo much time in the kitchen!

23
Erica Schumacher December 2, 2011 at 3:18 am

My go-to kitchen tools are first and foremost good sharp knives, then a good peeler, microplane graters and my food processor in that order. Pliable spatulas are a must as well.

24
jeff norman December 2, 2011 at 3:26 am

I have 2 i can’t live without… my peppermill and my garlic press. The flavor these bring mmmmmmm

25
Meagan December 2, 2011 at 3:43 am

This might sound silly but my favorite kitchen gadget is the little terra cotta disc that you soak in water then use to keep your brown sugar soft. I have lots of other kitchens items I like but this one I LOVE! I hated getting out my brown sugar and having it be hardened into a brick. I haven’t had the problem even once since getting the disc. It has made using my brown sugar a joy instead of a pain! I bake a lot more now that I have it!

26
Maureen December 2, 2011 at 3:46 am

Very hard decision, I guess first my Chef’s knife, then my cast iron fry pan.

27
Yuri December 2, 2011 at 3:47 am

I HAVE to have my wooden spoons. I’m obsessed with them and have a bunch. Is that strange? hahaha. I just love them. :)

28
Goat Girl December 2, 2011 at 3:54 am

A really good spatula. Thanks for the contest!

29
Jeni December 2, 2011 at 3:57 am

Hi Kevin and Amanda

I love my porcelain ginger grater. So good for making ginger juice, too, just grate then squeeze the grated ginger into a bottle and add to meals and drinks. Perfect for keeping warm in the cooler climes as ginger warms the body from the inside out.

Jeni

Sumaiyyah December 2, 2011 at 4:03 am

I bake more than I cook, and my ultimate favourite tool that I (nearly) never go without is my Mum”s spatula. Good for scraping every little bit of dough, batter, frosting or anything else for that matter!

31
Sara December 2, 2011 at 4:09 am

Is a coffeemaker a tool? :)

32
jennyy December 2, 2011 at 5:31 am

Ha!

33
Heather =) December 2, 2011 at 4:14 am

My fav kitchen tool has to be my microwave! Working full time as a nurse and working on my Master’s at the same time does not leave a whole lot of time for cooking. My microwave is my savior!

34
Lynda Taylor December 2, 2011 at 4:28 am

All those tools look awesome.

My favourite and most useful is my chef’s knife. Buy a good quality one and it will last for years. Use it for everything from chopping pumpkin to fine herbs.

35
Londra Fleming December 2, 2011 at 4:30 am

Has to be my Kitchen Aid Mixer! I mix everything in that thing!

36
Mindy December 2, 2011 at 4:34 am

I cannot live without my huge butcher knife. I do everything with it. My mom is the complete opposite. She cannot stand a huge knife and would rather work with the smallest knife.

37
Julie December 2, 2011 at 4:49 am

I must have the cheese grater!!!!!

38
Karen December 2, 2011 at 4:50 am

43
Barb December 2, 2011 at 4:58 am

My ice cream scoop that warms the ice cream to make it come out of the container easier.
I’d love these tools. Thanks for the chance. Have a great weekend, everyone! TGIF!

44
Jolene Baer December 2, 2011 at 4:59 am

My favorite kitchen gaget is my vidalia chop wizard. I use it to chop veggies and all kinds of things. Wouldn’t be with out it.

45
Veronica Davidson December 2, 2011 at 5:03 am

I would love that grater. I’ve been using my cheese grater lol I’ve looked high and low for a coarse grater but haven’t found one. We don’t have a kitchen store around here. All of those gadgets look great! My favorite gadget right now is my measuring scoop that adjust. One scooper is all i need. I slide this adjuster to the proper measurement and thats it. Of course I still have the old stand by measuring spoon set but the scooper is so cool. I think I got it from the pampered chef.

46
Janine O December 2, 2011 at 5:04 am

My favorite gadget is my kitchen scissor from Cutco. Those things cut through anything — and are so easy to clean. I use them several times a day!

I can’t live without my metal measuring cups.

52
Julie C. December 2, 2011 at 5:16 am

I would love the Herb Mill! That would be so helpful in my kitchen, I use fresh cilantro and it’s messy to chop up by hand! I love my stick butter slicer, it makes using a tablespoon of butter so easy, everyone should have one!

53
Cherie December 2, 2011 at 5:17 am

*******I love my favotite spatula.*******
It flips for me, it scoops for me, it stirs for me, and best of all!!! you ready for this?????
It fits so perfectly comfortable in my hand.

54
Helen Ernst December 2, 2011 at 5:19 am

The timer, it is my best friend. I use when I cook, clean, sew, knit and quilt. The food does not burn, the house gets clean and when I have only a certain amount of fun time available it allows me to play. My home is connected to my business and when I do not use a timer I forget the food is cooking.

55
Tarayn December 2, 2011 at 5:24 am

Great giveaway! Thanks, Amanda! I’m in great need of some gadgets in my kitchen! I have found a love for cooking over the last few years and would love some tools to make life easier in the kitchen! Have a wonderful bday weekend in NYC!! Thank you again!

58
Kellie December 2, 2011 at 5:32 am

My MIL gave me a microplane grater a couple of years ago, and I just started using it earlier this year…I don’t know how I ever lived without it! I’ve asked for the herb mill grinder for Christmas, but now I have lots of other things on my wishlist!

59
amy December 2, 2011 at 5:33 am

Our set of really good knives… I didnt know I needed them before I got them as a wedding gift. Now if you took them away I would hold a memorial service.

60
Helen Boivin December 2, 2011 at 5:33 am

I love my mini silicone spatulas/scrapers/spoonulas.

61

64

I love my garlic press. Couldn’t do garlic without it. And we love garlic!

65
Gretta December 2, 2011 at 5:46 am

I love my kitchen shears! I use them everyday!

66
Mareen December 2, 2011 at 5:46 am

I would say my Kitchen Aid, but that is only in my dreams as I don’t own one yet. So it has to be my handmixer.

67
Southern Gal December 2, 2011 at 5:47 am

I agree with everyone else that a great set of knives is a must…but I don’t have any!
My must-haves change all the time. This week it would be a waffle iron. Ours bit the dust and you don’t know what a tragedy that is in this house.

68
Val Lewis December 2, 2011 at 5:47 am

My favorite gadget would have to be my pastry cutter, or maybe my spider, or the egg slicer? Although not really what I would call a gadget, I have a favorite slotted spoon. I know, sounds crazy, doesn’t it?

69
Amy December 2, 2011 at 5:48 am

My Blender, it’s near 20 years old & is on it’s last limbs, but I can hid green beans in sauces or chilli my 5 year old doesn’t know he’s eating it.

70
Colleen December 2, 2011 at 5:50 am

I can’t believe I don’t own a microplane yet! I often find myself needing the Microplane Classic Series Premium Zester/Grater in the kitchen and I’d love to have it in my kitchen toolbox!

71
Jenn F December 2, 2011 at 5:51 am

My ice cream scoop. I reach for that every time I bake, or make pancakes (which is requested quite often by a certain 2-year old).
Thanks for the chance to win!

72
Kelly B. December 2, 2011 at 5:53 am

Sharp knives. I don’t own a microplane.

73
Nicole G December 2, 2011 at 5:57 am

I’m a simple cook – probably my big spoons & spatulas.

74
Karen December 2, 2011 at 5:58 am

I would have to say my large sharp knife. I cut, stir, use to hold food in the pan while draining water, grease, whatever. I’m sure I do a lot more with it. It’s just a part of me in the kitchen. The only time my knife takes a back seat to anything is corn on the cob season. Then it’s the butter spreader.

75
kim December 2, 2011 at 6:01 am

I am not very good in the kitchen so I have no suggestions for kitchen tools. That is why I need to WIN these!

76
Wini December 2, 2011 at 6:02 am

My favorite kitchen tool is my Kitchen Aide stand mixer! I use it at least six times a week!
Hugs, Wini

77
Kathy December 2, 2011 at 6:04 am

cookie scoop!

78
Julie G December 2, 2011 at 6:06 am

I love my kitchen shears – so much that I have two for when one is in the dishwasher!

79
Cassie Tucker December 2, 2011 at 6:07 am

I can’t live without my Adjust-A-Cup measuring cup. It’s skinny which means it takes up less space, it’s a multi-measure cup in one, and the best part of all? It makes measuring butter, peanut butter, and honey as easy as can be.

80
Teresa C. December 2, 2011 at 6:10 am

I guess I might have to say my whisk. You can use it for so many different things and even when the power goes out or you don’t have access to an electric or stand mixer, you can still use the whisk! :)

81
Krys Kolivras December 2, 2011 at 6:11 am

My favorite kitchen tool is my big bamboo spoon. I use it for so many tasks when cooking and baking, and it has remained much nicer & cleaner looking over the years than regular wooden spoons do.

82
Martha S. December 2, 2011 at 6:12 am

My favorite tool is probably my big Cutco knife. I really need to send that thing off to be sharpened!

83
Fernie December 2, 2011 at 6:13 am

Sad to say, the microwave. Though, I have vowed to soon buy real kitchen supplies and use them! :)

91

98
Jeri Smith December 2, 2011 at 6:30 am

99
Kym J Ray December 2, 2011 at 6:30 am

I LOVE my Microplane grater!! Pasta, butter, and grated parmesean….heaven!!!

100
Katie December 2, 2011 at 6:32 am

My food processor. We’re as tight as peanut butter and jelly! :)

101
Angela House December 2, 2011 at 6:33 am

I love my microplane zester. Cook’s country rated it the best too! I would love to try all the other ones. I also like my OXO heat resistant silicone spatula. I got it from TJ Max and I use it every morning to make eggs. It has metal inside the silicone to keep it rigid. Another favorite tool is my mini spatula from Pampered Chef. It works great on warm cookies. I guess I like spatulas;)

102
katie lynn December 2, 2011 at 6:34 am

My Chef’n rolling garlic chopper. I love cooking with garlic and this saves me a lot of time. Thanks for the chance to win!

I would have to say my Kitchen Aid mixer – I couldn’t live without it!

105
Donna December 2, 2011 at 6:36 am

What a fun contest!! My favorite tool is my garlic press. I’m Italian and use garlic in everything so my press is always in use.

Thanks for the opportunity.

106
Susan K. December 2, 2011 at 6:37 am

I love the gadget I use when I brown ground beef. It’s a big “X” on a stick {well, that’s what my husband calls it} and it breaks up the beef as I’m browning it. Sounds silly as I’m describing it, but it leaves you with a pan of nicely uniform meat, that results in perfect tacos, casseroles, etc.

Thanks for the chance to win these goodies! Have a super weekend!

107
Jessica December 2, 2011 at 6:37 am

hmmm I would say that my most beloved tool would be my mandoline slicer. I use that thing almost every day

great giveaway.. I’m totally smitten over that herbmill!

108
jenny@boxandb December 2, 2011 at 6:38 am

I would have to say a great set of knives. I could really use that glove though…remember when I grated my thumb; along with the cheese. Ouch!

109
Ashlee December 2, 2011 at 6:38 am

My favorite kitchen tool is definitely my Vibe Kitchen spatula. I got this at target a couple years ago, it is super flexible, double sided, and AWESOME! It doesn’t leave any cookie dough or batter behind in that bowl!

110
Kathy December 2, 2011 at 6:39 am

I guess it would have to be my paring knife, I use it alot. Those tools would so great to use.

111
JennStar December 2, 2011 at 6:39 am

I know this sounds silly, but I love my onion goggles! Particularly when slices a batch of onions, I love them even more. They remind me of my ski goggles (and you could probablly just use those if you have them) with foam around the eye glass pieces. You can “smell” the “heat” but just when you think your eyes will water, they don’t. I’ve even had friends borrow them when making things like French Onion Soup! ;o)

112
Sarilyn December 2, 2011 at 6:40 am

I’d be lost without my kitchen scissors!

113
Kody Turner- Schimmel December 2, 2011 at 6:41 am

115

116

117
Catie December 2, 2011 at 6:46 am

I don’t know if you would consider it a tool but I love my offset spatula for decorating cakes!

118
Carolyn December 2, 2011 at 6:46 am

I love my apple corer pealer slicer. Especially when I’m making apple pies.

119
Dana December 2, 2011 at 6:46 am

I love my kitchen shears. They are so versatile! I’ve never tried any of the Microplane products, but would love to! (That herb mill looks like so much fun!) Thanks for the chance at this great giveaway!

120
Monique December 2, 2011 at 6:47 am

My favorite tool is my Mix N’ Chop from Pampered Chef. It makes quick work of breaking down ground beef and sausage.

121
http://moderngirl.jurna.ro/ December 2, 2011 at 6:49 am

The grater! It helps me a lot when I don’t want to slice, chop etc. Makes me less lazy! :)

122
Jan December 2, 2011 at 6:51 am

My silicone spoon – it’s half spoon, half spatula. Great for cooking on the stove, great for scraping bowls. I have several. I too love my mini spatula from Pampered Chef.

127

Now that I actually have a nice knife set I cannot live without it. Just makes life so much easier.

128
Leslie W December 2, 2011 at 6:56 am

Couldn’t be without my set of knifes. These tools would be fabulous to have to have :)

140
Lori December 2, 2011 at 7:03 am

These tools look awesome, I would love to have the herb mill. I grew my own herbs this summer and it was great, this herb mill would have made it perfect! My all time favorite kitchen gadgets are: pampered Chef cookie scoop (gotta have them all the same size for perfect baking) and my hard boiled egg slicer.

141
Dalai Lina December 2, 2011 at 7:03 am

I love my butter spreader…is that even what it’s called? Anyway, it’s my fav.

148
Kendra December 2, 2011 at 7:07 am

I would never do without my heat resistant spatulas because – IF – one should happen to turn on the back burner and you really meant to turn on the front burner and just happened to have a spatula on that back burner – it won’t melt and ruin your stovetop! :)

149
Helen December 2, 2011 at 7:08 am

Definitely the microplane zester! I have one, but would love one for my daughter. When I go to her kitchen I’m lost without it!

150
Candy December 2, 2011 at 7:09 am

Great give-away….all of those tools would be awesome.

My favorite tool is my santoku knife. I use it for everything and love it.

151
Brittany December 2, 2011 at 7:09 am

My Crock Pot! My husband and I both work, and it’s literally a lifesaver to come home to a cooked meal. All I have to do is get up a few minutes early, throw some stuff in there, and wa-la!

152
Teale December 2, 2011 at 7:10 am

I love my cookie scoop!

153
Karen December 2, 2011 at 7:10 am

I DEFINITELY need that cut resistant glove. I cut myself chopping veggies ALL the time!

155
Amy December 2, 2011 at 7:11 am

The food processor is my favorite. When I first got it I had no idea what to do with it. But now I use if for almost everything: chopping veggies, mixing cookie dough, making masa for our homemade tortillas. I don’t know what I would do without it!

156
Jill December 2, 2011 at 7:13 am

It would have to be my microplane zester – I use it for everything – grating garlic as well as citrus. And I haven’t bought ground nutmeg in years – it just doesn’t taste the same unless it’s been freshly grated!

157
Jane Toms December 2, 2011 at 7:13 am

I love my large sharp knife. I went years without one and don’t know how I managed.

158
Jenna m December 2, 2011 at 7:15 am

My can’t live without tool in the kitchen is a good knife – along with a pizza cutter!

163

164
sandy December 2, 2011 at 7:19 am

I love my mini spatula from Pampered Chef. The small size is perfect baking and serving.

165

I love my French press coffee maker. We use it every morning and I think it makes the best coffee.

171
April Horak December 2, 2011 at 7:23 am

My favorite tool is actually my spatula, my heavy duty, “almost a spoon” silicone one from Pampered Chef. I can get every bit from my mixing bowls with it!

172
Fran December 2, 2011 at 7:26 am

Oh those look like fun. I never knew there was an herb cutter out there. I would love to try that! I can’t really think of what my favorite tool would be, nothing stands out to my memory right now. Maybe the stand mixer…. lol! All that recent holiday baking!

173
Emilie December 2, 2011 at 7:27 am

Its a tie between my ceramic paring knife and my cookie dough scoop!

174
Anne Vogt December 2, 2011 at 7:27 am

181
Michele V December 2, 2011 at 7:30 am

Wow Amanda that’s a nice giveaway! hmm right now my fav tool seems to be my garlic press but that herb mill looks like it would be a great addition!

182
Denise December 2, 2011 at 7:30 am

I’d love to try the herb mill. I never cut my herbs evenly, and often break skin! Ugh! Maybe the safety glove too, since obviously I’m accident prone!

183
Emily December 2, 2011 at 7:30 am

I could not live without my whisks. I have about 5 and use at least one everyday!

184

185
The Mrs @ Success Along the Weigh December 2, 2011 at 7:32 am

What great gadgets!!

The one I can’t do without is the mini adjust a cup measurer. It has been a God send in my weight loss measuring out condiments or hummus or whatever into perfect 1 or 2 tbsp servings! I’ve got two I use them so much!

186
Kori December 2, 2011 at 7:32 am

I received a Williams-Sonoma Chef’n Garlic Zoom Chopper as a gift once and it has come in real handy when I have lots and lots of garlic to chop. Like making garlic & oil spaghetti or shrimp scampi. You place the skinned garlic cloves in the unit and then “roll” it around the counter top and the mini-blades inside chop it up perfectly! Even comes with a tiny spatula to scrape out the bits inside. It’s a great gift idea.

187
Laura December 2, 2011 at 7:32 am

Herb mill!!! Without a doubt!!!

188
Sarah D. December 2, 2011 at 7:34 am

189
Kim Caldwell December 2, 2011 at 7:34 am

Mine is my peeler. With young kids, everything needs to be peeled!

190

I love my mini food processor/chopper, but boy does the microplane herb mill look fab!!!

191
Meredith December 2, 2011 at 7:37 am

Flat bamboo spatula from Pampered Chef. I’ve had them for years, use them constantly, and they look brand new. The flat end is great for breaking up whatever I’m stirring.

192
CHERIE MISTRETTA December 2, 2011 at 7:37 am

My favorite kitchen tool is the microplane I use it for everything. I’d love to win the other tools and could always use another microplane:)

193

194
Kelly Williamson December 2, 2011 at 7:38 am

195
Aimee M December 2, 2011 at 7:39 am

A really good chef’s knife! It’s an investment, but completely worth it in the long run.

196
Rachel December 2, 2011 at 7:39 am

I can’t get along without my peeler! I keep buying them occasionally in hopes of finding one that works best for everything….

197

Pizza cutter: for cutting those impromptu quesadillas for my 3-year old ;-)

198
Sarah December 2, 2011 at 7:41 am

My crock pot! I’m a busy mom of three kids aged 2.5 and younger and eating a nutritious family dinner is really important to me. I love being able to toss everything together while the kids eat breakfast and enjoy it as a family hours later!

199
Diane@LongabergerLifestyle December 2, 2011 at 7:41 am

It’s really surprising how many times I use my stick/immersible blender. And it so easy to use and clean.
For all my kitchen tools/gadgets I’ve never treated myself to a microplane. This giveaway would make my day!!!

200
Debby J December 2, 2011 at 7:41 am

203
D. Dallas December 2, 2011 at 7:44 am

211
Sara J. December 2, 2011 at 7:47 am

My favorite kitchetn tool or utensil is a knife…that will actually cut things! I don’t have any and so when I am at others houses and I get to use their fine knives that actually cut things…I am in heaven!

212

215
Jeanna December 2, 2011 at 7:50 am

I love my antique spoon that my mother-in-law gave me. I didn’t get it till I had it in person. The spoon part is metal and slotted. The tip is flat, but then curves up at the edges. Those edges are perfect fit for the corner of your pots. It is the most useful when stir frying! It scrapes the pan without butchering your food.

These new modern gadgets you are giving away look like they might could hold up to my old school spoon! haha!

216
Sasha December 2, 2011 at 7:53 am

Parchment paper! Helps make the best cookies and keeps them from sticking.

217
Amanda December 2, 2011 at 7:54 am

I can’t live without my Furi Santoku knife! That and my Le Creuset dutch oven. They are pricy (it was a gift!) but it will last my whole life.

226
Karen @ Goofy Can Cook December 2, 2011 at 7:58 am

That’s a tough one, I love and use all of my tools. A wire whisk. Without it no flour would be sifted for yummy cookies, no eggs whisked. It’s essential!

227
Dalia December 2, 2011 at 7:59 am

I don’t have a lot of gadgets either, but I need to have a grater for sure in the kitchen. I’m always grating something, but I wish I had a zester grater. Thank you for hosting this great giveaway!

228
Susan T December 2, 2011 at 7:59 am

My big chef’s knife; I used it to cut everything. It smashes garlic spectacularly.

229
Caitlin December 2, 2011 at 7:59 am

My KitchenAid mixer! I put it at the bottom of my Christmas list last year, not expecting to get one since they’re expensive so I was super surprised when I got one! Now I can’t imagine not having it – in addition to using it for mixing desserts and things it also makes making bread dough a snap and shredding chicken super easy!

Oh, and I totally need those gloves – I gouged my hand trying to cut an orange a few weeks ago and have a lovely scar to show for it now. I’m quite clumsy!

230
Kim December 2, 2011 at 8:00 am

251
Jeannette P December 2, 2011 at 8:10 am

That’s a hard question. I like many kitchen tools but I’ll say my Pampered Chef ice cream scoop. I <3 ice cream & it makes it so easy to serve the whole family in a flash with the special liquid that warms from the heat in your hand to make scooping ice cream easy.

252
Mary Beth December 2, 2011 at 8:11 am

I have a one tablespoon measuring spoon that I swear makes the perfect size cookies and no other one comes close. It’s odd but it is so nice when I’m doing all my holiday baking! :)

So being that we will be moving into our first home next Friday (so exciting!!) we barely have anything besides a bedroom set! But, at work, I have been getting some free cookware for buying supplies. So I would have to say my favorite kitchen item will have to be my Kitchenaid 4-quart hard-anodized pot. Especially since it’s winter soon, I can’t wait to make chicken soup!! mmm :)

258
Bobbie December 2, 2011 at 8:15 am

261
Betsy December 2, 2011 at 8:18 am

I use my kitchen shears for everything! I’m not sure how I survived without them. Cutting raw chicken is so much easier with shears then with a knife. I actually have like 4 different pairs that I use for different things.

262
Elaine Allen December 2, 2011 at 8:18 am

267
Carrie Monts December 2, 2011 at 8:19 am

My favorite kitchen tool is a chopper, although I am looking forward to the chance to trying the Microplane Gourmet Series.

268
Kayle (The Cooking Actress) December 2, 2011 at 8:19 am

It’s going to sound so silly but-I could not live without my rubber spatulas. They help me scrape things off sides, get the last bits of stuff out of bowls, and gently stir. They are so simple but necessary! I must say though, my life would be infinitely better with those Microplane tools!

269
hope December 2, 2011 at 8:19 am

i wouldn’t say it’s the most useful but I do enjoy using it – my banana slicer! http://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/chefn-banana-slicer/

270
sarah December 2, 2011 at 8:19 am

I love my vegetable peeler I bought from Mr Ades in NYC. He was right, it truly is amazing!

271
Dawn in HSV December 2, 2011 at 8:20 am

My Kitchenaid stand mixer… I saved for years to buy one. :)

272
Laura S. December 2, 2011 at 8:21 am

I love fresh parmesan cheese, so the grater/zester would be my favorite <3

273
Toni C December 2, 2011 at 8:21 am

My Kitchen Aid mixer, hands down. The versatility in being able to do everything from cookies and breads to making our own sausage is fantastic. Not to mention I think my daughters like to see how far they can push my patience by cranking it up, quickly, to see dry ingredients fly around the kitchen! :-)

274
Angie @ Bigbearswife December 2, 2011 at 8:22 am

I love my stand mixer! I couldn’t work without it!

275
Kasie December 2, 2011 at 8:22 am

I love my chef’s knife. Cutting an onion with a dull knife is brutal.

276
laurel December 2, 2011 at 8:22 am

i love my kitchen shears. i seriously use them all the time – i can’t imagine trying to cut bacon without them!! silicone spatulas are a close second, though.

277
Lauren December 2, 2011 at 8:23 am

Cheese! Cheese! Everything is better with oodles of cheese. Right now I’m pretty addicted to my breadmaker.

278
Demitria December 2, 2011 at 8:23 am

I couldn’t live without my measuring spoons! They are adjustable so I only need two (one is teaspoon and the other is tablespoon). Without those, I wouldn’t be able to bake yummy things!!

279
Mairin December 2, 2011 at 8:23 am

I have a carbon steel knife that was once my Grandfather’s and I LOVE IT. It stays super sharp, which is great because I tend to slip when I use a dull knife. It takes a little extra care but is worth it!

280
Hilarie December 2, 2011 at 8:24 am

I love my silicone spoons – for everything. They’re my fave! Thanks for the chance to win.

281
Makenzie Kaiser December 2, 2011 at 8:24 am

My George Foreman 360 Grill!

282
Debbie J December 2, 2011 at 8:24 am

My most essential “tool” would be a cutting board. Is that a tool? :)

283
Leah December 2, 2011 at 8:24 am

I think my food processor is probably something I could never give up!

284
Kathy December 2, 2011 at 8:25 am

My old wooden spoon and my KitchenAid Mixer. LOVE that mixer!!! Made yeast rolls for Thanksgiving with the dough hook…so much easier!!!

285
Linda December 2, 2011 at 8:25 am

I love my chopper from Pampered Chef. I use it almost daily to dice at least one ingredient for whatever I am cooking that night. It saves me SO much time and I don’t know what I’d do without it!

286
Terri D December 2, 2011 at 8:27 am

I have many kitchen tools that I love but the microplane is heavily used and I don’t know how I ever did without one. I would love to have another one on standby for when my current one becomes dull.

287
Lisa December 2, 2011 at 8:28 am

I was just drooling over the herb mill in the Sur La Table catalog yesterday! Never seen that before. Was going to put it and the microplane on my wish list, but to win these items would be a wonderful early present!

288
Amanda December 2, 2011 at 8:28 am

The one kitchen tool I cannot be without is my peeler! Potato/carrot/cucumber/cheese/chocolate bar/apple/kiwi etc. peeler!! I am not sure I could cook with any of these without it :)

289
Jodi Krautkramer December 2, 2011 at 8:29 am

I love my kitchen-aid mixer!!

290
Denise Webster December 2, 2011 at 8:30 am

That’s hard to choose. Aside from good sharp knives (which I don’t have right now), I’d have to choose my kitchen shears next. I love them. But there are so many and these tools look AWESOME!

291
Lourdes Fay December 2, 2011 at 8:30 am

First I have to share with you that my BIL calls me “Miss Gadget” cause I love kitchen gadgets. LOL
I would like to have the Microplane Herb Mill. I don’t own anything like that in my collection yet. I really don’t have a favorite kitchen tool, it depends on what I am doing.

292
Nicole December 2, 2011 at 8:31 am

I couldn’t live without a good knife, but I love every gadget in my kitchen!

293
Jane Mykleby December 2, 2011 at 8:33 am

I love my heat resistant spatula! Everyone should have one!

295
Helen December 2, 2011 at 8:33 am

296
Marsha K December 2, 2011 at 8:33 am

My rubber spatulas! How else do you get a bowl or can cleaned out?!

297
Sandra December 2, 2011 at 8:35 am

I would love to have the Microplane Herb Mill – as I love to cook with fresh herbs all the time and I find it can get a tad messy if I chop them up on the cutting board. Although it smells fabulous after you do. :)
Kitchen tools I can’t live without? Sharp knives, cutting board, can opener and a wine opener and scissors. :P Lol. I couldn’t choose just one. I think these are all very important items to have in your kitchen so you don’t have a nervous breakdown while cooking! :)

298
Allison December 2, 2011 at 8:35 am

My kitchen aid mixer. I know I once managed without it, but I cannot remember how.

My most appreciated tool is my self-sharpening 6″ knife. It cuts through everything smoothly. I know it’s boring, but I also love my 2T stainless steel measuring spoon and 2Cup measuring cup. They both save time. I am so excited about the Herb Mill and plan on looking for one (the comments are giving me some ideas too)

315
Kate December 2, 2011 at 8:43 am

My favorite tool is a bright orange small rubber spatula. It’s high-temp heat resistant so I use it to stir and blend everything….from on the stove in a pot, to a bowl with cake batter. Love it! I just bought 6 more to give to friends for Christmas.

351

360
Megan December 2, 2011 at 9:02 am

Probably my KitchenAid mixer… I use it for everything, even smaller jobs that I know could be handled with a hand mixer, I’d rather use my KitchenAid!

My cutco santoku knife. It will cut through anything.

381
L.S. December 2, 2011 at 9:18 am

We’re Asian, so we have this pair of super long (oh, about 15 inches!), heavy duty chopsticks that we use almost every time when cooking something (obvious not for eating things with!). It’s pretty much replaced the tongs in the kitchen. ;-)

382
Becky S December 2, 2011 at 9:18 am

My good whisk. There are so many cheap ones that don’t work very well. I use my whisk a lot!! It makes a lump free gravy!!

383
Laura December 2, 2011 at 9:19 am

I never realized I needed a lefty spatula until my sweet mother-in-law gave me one…now I don’t know how I lived without it. I don’t think everyone needs a lefty spatula though. :)

384
ruthie December 2, 2011 at 9:20 am

396
Sheryl December 2, 2011 at 9:28 am

Wow, what a great giveaway! I’d love to win one of these sets, especially since I have NONE of these awesome kitchen gadgets! My favorite kitchen tool (and I know it’s going to sound corny) is my fruit and veggie chopper. I’m sure you’ve seen similar ones on tv where you put a half of an onion in and press down on the top and it dices it neatly into the box below? Well it really works and saves me so much time chopping and dicing! It’s so handy and I’m glad I purchased it. Thanks for hosting another great giveaway!

397
Jey December 2, 2011 at 9:28 am

My OXO spatula… I use it for pretty much everything and I have this odd attachment to it, so I get a little annoyed when someone else uses it and I have to use the other spatulas. :P

398
anne December 2, 2011 at 9:28 am

Just one I can’t live without?! I would have to choose my heat resistant spatula. I use it for cooking and baking. I love the satisfaction of getting every last bit out of the bowl or pan.

I just bought Microplane’s box grater a few weeks ago and I love it! A major upgrade from my last one. :-) The tool I probably use the most is a set of paring knives from Oxo – its a colorful set of four knives and I use each one at least once per day!

405
Lindsay December 2, 2011 at 9:31 am

Kind of funny, but my favorite is my safety hand can opener. I have had it for 11 years and it is awesome!

I don’t usually enter giveaways because I never win but this one is totally worth it. I use my coffee grinder most and my mini food processor the second most. I have been searching for a good peeler forever. I plan to buy one of the microplaner ones if I do not win.

I LOVE kitchen gadgets! And I have a bunch so it’s hard to pick a favorite…..but I’ll say that my #1 item to have in the kitchen is a good chef’s knife. I use it constantly! Couldn’t live without it!
I also love whisks – I’ve got a bunch! Can’t seem to get enough of those suckers – have them in a variety of sizes and use them often :-)
Thanks for the contest!

413
Jennifer December 2, 2011 at 9:37 am

My favorite kitchen gadget is a cheese grater from IKEA that fits onto a container so the cheese falls directly into the container as you grate it. After grating, the container has a lid so you can seal it and put it into the fridge all grated.

414
Erin December 2, 2011 at 9:39 am

My microplane zester is most definitely my favorite gadget. I love it for zesting lemons, finely grating hard cheese, and freshly grating nutmeg. SO useful :)

Gosh, I’m such a kitchen gadget junkie that it’s hard to choose just one!!! Usually it’s the latest one I’ve purchased! One gadget I do use a LOT is my potato masher from OXO. It’s a toss up between my paring knife and measuring beaker. Love looking at the beaker to see if I can measure by cup instead of a gazillion tsps. when doubling, or even tripling, a recipe. So glad you’re hosting this kind of giveaway because I’ve been using my microplane to grate the soap for my homemade laundry detergent and could really use a new one. LOL!

442

Even though I’m a fledgling cook, I have to have a very sharp, well made chef’s knife (mine is a Victorinox). It makes everything so much easier and safer! Two years ago, I would have said my giant slow cooker – it is amazingly forgiving and such a blessing for feeding lots of people!

445

490
Melissa December 2, 2011 at 10:21 am

HERB MILL?! I just got an Oxo Herb Mincer hoping it would be awesome and…no, just like knives, it bruises but does not cut through cilantro :( now I want to try an herb mill from Microplane!

But anyway, my favorite kitchen tool is a toss-up between my baking stones and my Soda Stream soda maker — if either of those count as a tool!! Otherwise my garlic press (Oxo… it’s heavy-duty! But I had a pampered chef one that rocked, too) is SO handy and I never mince garlic, just press it!

491

513
Sabrina December 2, 2011 at 10:40 am

These tools all look fabulous, but the herb mill looks wonderful. I grow some of my own herbs, and that would make it so much easier!

As for the tools I currently own, I use my Oster chopper attachment all the time. I guess it is because my kids will pick out the vegetables (onions, peppers, mushrooms, carrots), unless they are chopped up fine in the sauce. My secret vegetable weapon!

514
Laurel G December 2, 2011 at 10:41 am

My mom has one of the Mircoplane zesters and I love it! It works so well for everything you would want grated. Also I love using wooden spoons, they just feel good to use :)

521
Amy (Peppermint Mocha Mama) December 2, 2011 at 10:44 am

One? Just one? Oh my goodness, the pressure of deciding what the ultimate kitchen tool in my house is… oh wait, it’s me! Seriously though, it’s my wooden spoonatula ~ it’s a spoon and a spatula – I love it. I cook everything with it. I have no idea where I got it or when but I’ve had it forever and am very possessive of it… even my husband won’t use it because if anything happened to my spoonatula, he doesn’t want to be responsible for it… lol.

522
Samantha December 2, 2011 at 10:44 am

My hand-held lemon/lime squeezer gets more use than any other tool in my kitchen (other than the knives), so I’d say it’s my favorite. I love just cutting a lime in half and throwing it in that thing to get all the juice out. Great tools you’re giving away!

I would LOVE to win these kitchen tools!!!
Thanks Amanda :)

547
Liz L. December 2, 2011 at 11:00 am

My essential tool is my Cuisinart food processor. Once you’ve had homemade mayo made with olive oil, there’s no going back.

548
Brenda December 2, 2011 at 11:00 am

I love the herb grater! After having purchased about 5 different ones – the Microplane brand is the keeper!

549

551
Martha December 2, 2011 at 11:02 am

If I have to choose just one thing, I would have to go with a really GOOD paring knife.

552
Robyn Fiedler December 2, 2011 at 11:02 am

The one gadget I can obviously live without, but I MISS desperately, was from Pampered Chef. It resembled a hair pick, but the ends were really sharp. You’d use it especially when cutting things, like onions. My mother-in-law used to babysit her granddaughter once a week when she was a baby and every time I came home, I’d find it in the bathroom with the hair things!

553
Donna December 2, 2011 at 11:03 am

I love my cutco spreader. Use it every day

554
Athena December 2, 2011 at 11:03 am

I would have to say my bamboo/wooden spoons/utensils. I love them.

555
DebbieB December 2, 2011 at 11:03 am

My favorite kitchen gadget is my mandolin. Makes slicing veggies quick or for shredding cabbage for coleslaw. Just watch the fingers!! Have gotten a few nasty cuts from it, now I am more careful. I wear another one of my kitchen faves, my Ove Glove, when slicing.

556
Abby Scroggins December 2, 2011 at 11:04 am

I couldn’t live without our kitchen knives, especially the really big ones! I love to chop everything that I can, so they come in handy alot.

557

563

The tool I couldn’t do without is the plain and simple wire whisk. I use it for some many different things that it would be difficult to go without.

564
April B. December 2, 2011 at 11:10 am

Thanks for the give away, this is awesome. I really like the cheese and herb mills!

565
Ty December 2, 2011 at 11:10 am

566
Julie December 2, 2011 at 11:11 am

I know they aren’t tools but I love love love my home crotcheted dish clothes. My mom got me hooked on them many years ago. I now look forward to the holiday craft shows to replenish my supply. Merry Christmas!

567
carol December 2, 2011 at 11:11 am

568

575
Monica N. December 2, 2011 at 11:16 am

I can not live without my zester/grater. So many of my cookie recipes take lemon and orange zest and it’s the best one out there!

Just started following your blog, which I saw on love from the oven and I love it already!

576
Alexandria December 2, 2011 at 11:18 am

I honestly think my microplane is my favorite tool. It does everything for me, including grating garlic super fine.

577
LynnLynn December 2, 2011 at 11:19 am

I can’t live without a good knife set. Thanks Amanda

578
Jeff December 2, 2011 at 11:19 am

My blender. Without a doubt. Not only can I make my smoothies, but I’ve started using it to make sauces, soups, and dressings for salads a lot more often. I bought one that was a bit pricier, but it’s been worth it. I don’t think I’d be able to cook without it.

579
Lori Jensen December 2, 2011 at 11:20 am

I’d say my paring knife and cheese grater….couldn’t live w/o one or the other.

580
Eva Mandel December 2, 2011 at 11:21 am

I have to say my favorite is our huge, square, Chinese meat cleaver. We use it for everything! It’s light enough to chop small pieces quickly, but strong enough to chop through anything we need (including frozen meat!) and the handle is even heavy enough to crush garlic in one motion! We use them so much that we have 3- because if we were ever left without, the whole kitchen would be paralyzed.

581
Lesley L December 2, 2011 at 11:21 am

I love my spatulas from Williams Sonoma!

582
Cheryl December 2, 2011 at 11:22 am

I can’t live without my fork! I know it sounds funny but that is what I use to break up hamburger meat when I am cooking.

583
pk December 2, 2011 at 11:22 am

My knives. Chef knife, paring knive and serated knife. However I don’t need to use them as much as I should because the best kitchen aid that I have is my hubby, since he does most of the cooking – his salads rock!

584
JaCobi December 2, 2011 at 11:22 am

I can’t live without my Pampered Chef Food Chopper! I think I use it everyday!

585
Janice December 2, 2011 at 11:22 am

586
Danielle Frederick December 2, 2011 at 11:23 am

That is the funkiest pizza cutter I have ever seen.

588
Kristi December 2, 2011 at 11:24 am

589
Melissa Kramer December 2, 2011 at 11:25 am

590
Stephanie F. December 2, 2011 at 11:25 am

I can’t live without my garlic press!

591
Sheena December 2, 2011 at 11:26 am

Oh, I want an herb mill SO bad! I have had that sucker pinned on pinterest and keep telling my husband I want it for Christmas.

My favorite kitchen tool is a silicone/rubber spatula. Whenever I am at my grandma’s or brother’s house cooking, I am searching and searching for one to use. I have at least 10 in my house alone. I should buy my grandma and brother each sets of rubber spatulas for Christmas! How do people not use these? I am a tad OCD about leaving food in the bowl, pan, etc. So when I make anything with batter I am scraping every drop out of the bowl. :)

592
Meredith December 2, 2011 at 11:27 am

My petite chefs knife. I use it everday! If they husband hasn’t done the dishes before I need it for the next meal I’m cooking, I can go a little bonkers!

593
Meredith December 2, 2011 at 11:28 am

the not they!

594
Jen Friesz December 2, 2011 at 11:27 am

My big blade chocolate cutter… BEST thing ever, I use it to cut my squares and they are always cut straight, evenly spaced and no cracks! I also use it to make chocolate curls, cut cakes and pies… the posibilities are endless!!

595
Veronique December 2, 2011 at 11:28 am

Hi!
I put garlic everywhere, so I use a garlic press. No more cutting tiny pieces of garlic! :)

596
Mary Lou December 2, 2011 at 11:28 am

597

598
yuki December 2, 2011 at 11:28 am

599
Etta December 2, 2011 at 11:28 am

I love my silicone spatula. Growing up my mom only used them when mixing cakes, but I use it for everything! I love that I can use it in both my stainless steel pans and my teflon coated pan and I won’t damage it.

600
Nicole B. December 2, 2011 at 11:30 am

Has to be my Pampered Chef, large heavy duty spatula (heat resistant). Had it for years (need to get another) but that would be my favorite kitchen tool. The herb mill looks like that would be my new favorite tool.

615
Alyssa December 2, 2011 at 11:41 am

616

My fave tool has to be my toaster oven. I love it. It’s big enough to fit a pizza.

619
Jessica December 2, 2011 at 11:48 am

Our favorite (and probably most used) tool is a stainless steel flat whisk that is very small, maybe 8 inches from end to end. If it’s not in the drawer my husband gets snippy with me – until I remind him to look in the dishwasher. *sigh* Boys can be so high maintenance.

620
Deneen Cook December 2, 2011 at 11:49 am

The one kitchen tool I couldn’t be without is my handy egg slicer :)

621
Kimmie s December 2, 2011 at 11:49 am

622
Jocelyn December 2, 2011 at 11:50 am

I would have to say my garlic press. I got it from Ikea and it completely disassembles so cleaning it is a breeze! Greatest thing ever.

623
Linda December 2, 2011 at 11:52 am

Is a dishwasher a tool? Also can’t do without a microwave either. I guess I use my non-stick skillett more than anything. Love the giveaway and would like to have it in my kitchen…thanks.

A wooden spoon. :)

Cooking Chopsticks, the long wooden ones. They are great for frying, plating and just about everything else in between.

626
Erin December 2, 2011 at 11:53 am

630
cara marie December 2, 2011 at 11:56 am

i love my chomper stomper!! i’m not sure everyone calls it that.. it’s the device that you push the top down a whole bunch and the blade chops down and then spins around to dice veggies!! great for keeping the onion smell contained… :]]]]

631
Holly December 2, 2011 at 11:57 am

Good knives! Especially my paring knife. I swear, that thing is barely ever in the knife block because I’m always using it for something or other.

632
shara bachman December 2, 2011 at 11:57 am

I love a good kitchen knife. It’s the start to everything good :)

643
Alesia December 2, 2011 at 12:11 pm

I have a few favorites, but I think the thing I (and my hubby) use most is our chef’s knife! We cook a LOT, (and have a couple of them), but he has an awesome Wusthof chef’s knife from his days in culinary school about 12 years ago. I’ve learned a lot from him and now realize a good knife makes all the difference!

644
Lori December 2, 2011 at 12:11 pm

Hmmm…that is a tough one! I would have to say my Caphalon spoons and spatulas!

645
JennYH December 2, 2011 at 12:17 pm

I love my spoonulas. Thanks for the giveaway!

646

650
SWJenn December 2, 2011 at 12:22 pm

LOL I scrolled down and read the first comment – and it’s my answer too: my paring knife! I have a favorite pink-handled knife that I do just about everything except cut bread with :) I’ve been wanting a microplane zester for a while now, thanks for the great giveaway!

651
Kai December 2, 2011 at 12:25 pm

My favorite kitchen tool is my sharp little paring knife! I think the herb mill in the giveaway looks like an amazing tool. Thanks for the givewaway!

652
Jenny December 2, 2011 at 12:26 pm

It’s hard to choose a favorite, but I do love my OXO food chopper. I enjoy the flavor of onions, but not the texture, so I like my onions chopped really small. Using the chopper makes that happen so much faster than I can do it on my own with a knife. Perhaps that means I need to work on my knife skills! Thank you!

653
Jacquline December 2, 2011 at 12:27 pm

My one basic, simple kitchen tool that I take with me when I move is my silicon spatulas – they scrape every last drop of batter or whatnot from my bowls and I love making it worth it!!!

654
Jessy December 2, 2011 at 12:27 pm

My favorite tool right now is my cheese grater :)

655
SalBug December 2, 2011 at 12:28 pm

I love my two microplane graters, one fine and one large. I probably use one of them each day, usually for garlic or parmesan cheese. I could use more, and the other tools as well. I bet I would use the heck out of the herb grinder since I grow my own and use fresh far more often than dried.

656
Mary Lea Wolf December 2, 2011 at 12:28 pm

Oh boy….my favorite kitchen tool is this little silicone mitt…actually only fits your fingers (forget what is is actually called) and you can grab things out of your microwave without burning your fingers!…Oh…maybe its called a “tip-mitt”??Thanks for the give-a-way!

657
Mary W. December 2, 2011 at 12:29 pm

I love my whole spice grinder aka coffee grinder. I don’t know how I lived without it before!

658
Beth December 2, 2011 at 12:30 pm

My favorite kitchen tool is my apple corer. It’s so much more fun to eat apples by the slice than just biting into it (and it’s so much easier to dip into peanut butter when in slices :))

659
Dee W December 2, 2011 at 12:31 pm

My chopping knife. I use it all the time, and when I cut it makes me feel like a real chef. lol Thanks for the opportunity.

661
Daneilia December 2, 2011 at 12:34 pm

My must have kitchen tool would be my Paula Deen spoon rest. It definitely beats having to use a plate to put your kitchen tools on while you’re cooking and less of a mess too.

662
Yhovanna December 2, 2011 at 12:35 pm

I love the Herb Mill I make a lot of dips, this gadget looks pretty cool to use and mess free. I think the glove resistant should be one that everyone should have so you won’t cut yourself when using the grater. I love all microplane tools.

663
LaKesha Glover December 2, 2011 at 12:35 pm

I have appliances that I really rely upon often, my blender and my Kitchen Aid standing mixer. If I had to choose one over the other it would be my blender. I have used it for everything, from smoothies to chopping to soup preparation. I would love to win the prize, especially that herb mill!!

664
Liz December 2, 2011 at 12:37 pm

My favorite kitchen tool is my good knife. I don’t even know what brand it is, but it cuts super well, and is always in my drying rack because I use it all the time! If I win, I will definitely get a lot of use out of those protective gloves — I always seem to cut myself when grating things :)

671
Lori Hada December 2, 2011 at 12:40 pm

Vegetable peeler.

674
Giovanna December 2, 2011 at 12:46 pm

Love the Kuhn Rikon peeler available from Williams Sonoma at the bargain price of $4 — the absolute best IMO.

675
Giovanna December 2, 2011 at 12:43 pm

I am a kitchen gadget junkie. It’s hard to pick just one thing! I was always frustrated by can openers getting all nasty and above all the risk of getting cut by a lid never appealed to me. I purchased a Kuhn Rikon can opener years ago. It opens cans easily and leaves no jagged edges It also has a feature that will lift the lid off for easy disposing and no dirty fingers. Love it!!!!

676
CJ December 2, 2011 at 12:43 pm

My fav is my Pampered Chef Food Chopper. It probably gets used more than any other in our house. I do need that mill and the grater so pick me, pick me!!!!

My favorite kitchen tool/gadget is a Pampered Chef crinkle cutter. It cuts hard veggies like carrots, potatoes, etc. to have a crinkled cut like a french fry. I love using it on cucumbers for veggie trays the most! – Karen

My refrigerator!

Melissa December 2, 2011 at 12:53 pm

I would actually have to say my microplane! I use it constantly… grating ginger, garlic, parmesan cheese, etc. And in reality it’s probably the only one that there just is no substitute for. I have a lot of tools that I like, but if I didn’t have them, there is another way to get the job done. But how would I zest a lemon without my microplane! Just can’t be done. :-)

689
Maria December 2, 2011 at 12:59 pm

There are numerous tools that I couldn’t live without, but if I had to choose just one, it would have to be my Cuisinart Mini Chopper!!

690
Jaime December 2, 2011 at 1:03 pm

I’d say I use my can opener the most of anything, which is funny considering it’s awful!

691

The glove! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve “grated” myself over the years! (It’s probably best not to think about it!) My family would be happy to see me at the table without band-aids on! :-)
Thanks!

701
Julie December 2, 2011 at 1:21 pm

I’ve never heard of microplane, looks like some great kitchen gadgets. I would have to say I use an old cheese grater the most, that would be my favorite gadget.

Rachel @ Baked by Rachel December 2, 2011 at 1:24 pm

If KA standmixers and food processors don’t count as tools (because that’s what I’d totally recommend) next up would be a variety of whisk sizes, spatulas and even a double boiler. They all get used a ton in my kitchen.

706
Anita December 2, 2011 at 1:24 pm

I know this sounds SUPER lame, but I love my spatula! It’s got red and white gingham on it, which I think is adorable. Plus, I’m in college, so I really don’t have any fancy gadgets :)

707

A good paring knife!

726
Casey B Scarlett December 2, 2011 at 2:02 pm

I have to have my super thin plastic cutting boards. They are clear and thin so they aren’t an eye sore but they do keep the pesky man of the house from slicing my counters to death and (on a good day) sometimes he pick it up and dump the crumbs straight into the trash! A total time saver and counter saver for me.

727
Bobbie December 2, 2011 at 2:04 pm

Icecream scoop!!! Gotta have it baby, especially on nights when the hubby isn’t home to scoop it for you :)

770
Christina Sporer December 2, 2011 at 3:21 pm

I have the pampered chef 1 cup size mini prep bowls with lids. They are amazing. I use them for something different every day. Top 5 uses
1. You can bake in them so you can use them to bake mini cakes like chocolate lava cakes.
2. pre-portioning items like yogurt or ice cream so you can stick to your diet
3. you can chop ingredients for a recipe and pour them right into the mini bowls and that saves you from using a measuring cup. Then put the lids on and leave them in the fridge until you are ready to cook.
4. Separating eggs. I can use the whites for my breakfast and save the yolks to use later.
5. home made baby food. They are just the right size for my infant. I thaw the “ice cube portions” in the fridge and can feed him straight from the mini bowl. I do not need to waste $ on children’s dishes.

771
Alvina December 2, 2011 at 3:25 pm

My decade-0ld chopper from Pampered Chef. I bought it at a party during which I spent more than I’d planned, so I suppose I use it for every chopping job in the house to make sure I get my money’s worth. It really does a great job on nuts and dried berries when making my holiday biscotti.

I’d have to say potato peeler. My hubby is a meat and potato kind of guy.

830
Teresa Lang December 2, 2011 at 5:01 pm

I own a couple of Microplane tools and think they are the best. These look really useful. Especially that glove–that’s my only complaint–I grate my knuckles occasionally because I’ a klutz.

831
Amanda J December 2, 2011 at 5:04 pm

I would have to say my mixer!

832
Tobie December 2, 2011 at 5:05 pm

I love, love, LOVE my red Kitchen Aid Mixer. It is one of my life’s ambitions to own all of the attachments to go with it.

833
debe h December 2, 2011 at 5:05 pm

This would be so cool. I really need a Lemon Zester so that would be one of new favorite gadgets. I have a PC Chop and stir and I love it!

834
Megan December 2, 2011 at 5:13 pm

I really love my 10 piece glass bowl set from Crate and Barrel. They nest inside one another so they don’t take up much space, and there’s one the right size for every job. I have no idea how I managed to prep/cook anything before I got these!

835
Jennie Brewer December 2, 2011 at 5:19 pm

My favorite kitchen tool is my swimming goggles – no lie. I wear them when I cut onions. Even though I look ridiculous, my eyes never water. :)

847

mine is definitely my basic corkscrew. It gets the most use in my kitchen ;)

849
Leslie W December 2, 2011 at 5:34 pm

My favorite kitchen tool isn’t a kitchen tool , it’s dental floss. I make/bake a lot of cinnamon rolls and using dental floss is the BEST tool for getting clean cuts without smooshing the cinnamon rolls. Just be sure to use plain floss ;)

850
Audrey December 2, 2011 at 5:35 pm

For our family it would be the vegetable peeler. Especially this time of year when we are always making all kinds of soup to keep warm. Love that new herb mill. If I do not win I may have to buy one someday……

As much as I love garlic, the smell of it on my hands for days is something I could live without. For that reason, I would have to say my garlic press is my favorite kitchen tool.

867
Jackie December 2, 2011 at 6:32 pm

All of those products look really cool, but I am very intrigued by the herb mill, as many of the other commenters are too.

My favourite kitchen tool is….hmm…apparently that’s a hard one to decide. I guess I will say something lame like the entire stove/oven, since almost everything I make requires that.

868
Barb B. December 2, 2011 at 6:33 pm

Believe it or not, I love my potato peeler. I got it years ago when a box of potato peelers were accidentally delivered to our office. No return address so we didn’t know where to send them back to and so we each got one. This is the best potato peeler I’ve ever used! Wish I knew who made it so I could have purchased more as gifts!

869
Stephanie December 2, 2011 at 6:33 pm

I couldn’t live without my bread knife. When you don’t have a bread knife, you really appreciate the non-smushed bread slices that come from using one! Ours stays out on the counter because we use it so often.

870
Bryann December 2, 2011 at 6:35 pm

I have a few but my number one kitchen tool is my kitchen shears. I use them to cut meat which saves a lot of time and mess. I think that cut resistant glove would be a good purchase for me though! I recently got a Kitchen Aid mandolin and I’ve cut my hand EVERY time I’ve used it!

896
Jen Knox December 2, 2011 at 7:38 pm

My favorite kitchen gadget isn’t exciting: my really sturdy pizza cutter! I use it to cut up pancakes, take the crust off bread and of course, pizza! I’ve even used it to mass-cut strawberries that were halved so I could drop the pieces in muffin batter. ;)

897
Leslie C December 2, 2011 at 7:41 pm

Can’t live without my measuring cups. Though I’ve heard good things about switching to a kitchen scale, especially for baking…

898
Pat Harte December 2, 2011 at 7:41 pm

I do have the Microplane grater/zester (the long one in the first photo) and it’s amazing for grating cheese or zesting citrus. I love mine and have given several as gifts!

My two favorite gadgets in the kitchen are my microplane zester/grater and my little mini hand held grater. I use them both all the time for everything from grating garlic for my favorite savory recipies to zesting lemon or lime to put into home whipped cream for on shortcakes. Love them and wouldn’t mind adding another to my drawer. :)

966
Barry December 2, 2011 at 9:51 pm

I can’t live without my wife in the kitchen! (She’s not a tool, but she does it all!)

967
Becky December 2, 2011 at 9:52 pm

I can’t live without my Pampered Chef scrappers. I LOVE them! They get every last drop out of the bowl!

968
OLETA December 2, 2011 at 9:56 pm

I don’t know how anyone can cook without a rubber spatula. I happened on to one on Amazon while looking for something else. It just looked like something I had to have. Anyway I ordered a Chef’n Switchit Spatula and a couple Switchit Spreaders. They are made of silicone, so you can use them on top of the stove too. I especially like to use them for scrambled eggs. I can’t bear to waste a single drop or bit of anything and these puppies do the trick and you can use both ends! They come in a number of bright colors, so many it’s hard to choose. I loved them so much, I ordered 12 more to give to all of my special friends, sister-n-laws and nieces for “just because” gifts. (They all love them too)!

969
Rachael December 2, 2011 at 10:11 pm

My Rachel Ray Lazy Ladle and Spoon. I can’t cook with out them now! :)

970
Marla December 2, 2011 at 10:15 pm

I would have to say my rubber spatula, great for scraping out bowls!

971
Wendy December 2, 2011 at 10:27 pm

I am a total sucker for cheese graters. I buy them all the time, always hoping I have finally found the “perfect” grater. But I usually find something wrong with them once I try them out. My husband and kids are constantly making fun of me over the amount of cheese graters I have in the kitchen.

972
Holly December 2, 2011 at 10:28 pm

One of my favorite kitchen gadgets is my garlic press. I don’t like mincing garlic, because my hands get so sticky and garlic-y, and my garlic press spares me from that–so I like it. A lot.

973
Little BGCG December 2, 2011 at 10:29 pm

For me it’s my pastry cutter I use it more often than I ever thought I would and am so glad I have it!

974
April was in CT now CA December 2, 2011 at 10:29 pm

It’s a tie between my Global chefs knife and my KitchenAid red spoonula (it’s a spatula..or maybe it’s a spoon!), I have three and they are in constant rotation.

Kitchen tools are one of my weaknesses so I have a ton! It’s hard to pick…..but lately my kitchen shears have been a life saver. Super easy to cut food into the right size for the little one.

Clair Jordan December 2, 2011 at 10:42 pm

I LOVE Kitchen gadgets, but I will have to say that I can’t live without good sharp knives. You can do anything with the basics but the gadgets sure do make things easier don’t they? That Herb mill looks amazing!!
Thanks for the opportunity!

I have a narrow little whisk that fits perfectly in my hand and I just love it for salad dressings and sauces. I have a cheapo pizza cutter that works perfectly to cut personal-size quesadillas. And I have an adjustable measuring cup that intrigues me but never fails to fail me – and yet I can’t get rid of it.

980
Christina Richmond December 2, 2011 at 10:47 pm

My Mora knife from Sweden. It is a utility knife, but it does everything I need in the kitchen…unfortunately, they’ve discontinued the model I currently have. Best part about these knives, they’re inexpensive, but work as good as knives 10x their price.

981
gayle December 2, 2011 at 10:52 pm

My pizza cutter, I cut everything from bread for croutons to sandwiches and pancakes.

982
Mubeena Miller December 2, 2011 at 10:53 pm

My best kitchen item is a potato peeler I purchased for .99c about 20 years ago. I’ve purchased other ones but none of them are as good!

I think the one tool I use for practically evertything I cook/bake in the kitchen is my Pampered Chef Mix N Scraper spatula. I have one of the Microplanes and I LOVE it for grating all types of cheeses. The herb mill looks completely awesome & I’d love to test it out. :)

I love my wooden spoons! Not a huge fan of the metal ones!!

1004
Mindy Kammerdiener December 3, 2011 at 12:46 am

I recently bought a set of Food Network measuring spoons from Kohls. They have spoons at each end, and they are shaped differently so that you can use the spoon twice without mixing up which end you use. My favorite part is that they join together by magnets instead of by a ring. They stay together in the drawer, but they pull apart with no fuss. (I love the herb grater! I would use it everyday!)

1005
Amanda M. December 3, 2011 at 12:52 am

The ice cream scoop, of course! :)

1006

1015

Can’t live without my VitaMix! Would love a microplane and the spice mill. They look like wonderful tools!

1019
Amanda December 3, 2011 at 3:42 am

I cannot live without a GOOD sifter. There are so many poorly manufactured or designed sifters out there that can make baking so difficult. I would not be able to bake without my different sifters!

1020

1027
Liz (Little Bitty Bakes) December 3, 2011 at 7:18 am

This isn’t a tool, but lately I think of it as one – a big mixing bowl. I’ve found that when in a pinch, I can go without my stand mixer, food processor, etc., as long as I have a big bowl!

1028
Angie December 3, 2011 at 7:19 am

I love my new wusthof 7″ chef’s knife!

1029
Sheila December 3, 2011 at 7:22 am

I don’t know what you call it, but it’s a curved knife that you rock with one central handle to chop things!

1030
Megan Z. December 3, 2011 at 7:27 am

Hmmmm…this is tough! I love to cook, but if I had to choose I would have to say my wide spatula. It’s perfect for pancakes and cookies and pretty much everything else needing picked up! Thanks for another great giveaway!! Keeping my fingers crossed :)

Tiffany December 3, 2011 at 7:54 am

I know it’s simple, but a good, sharp chef’s knife is the most important thing ever. If you can’t cut, you can’t cook. I’m stuck on the Shun knives right now…

1036
Rose Logan December 3, 2011 at 7:58 am

Mini spatulas from Pampered Chef. I use them for everything.

1037
Anna P December 3, 2011 at 8:06 am

Wow, all of these gadgets are cool! As a soon-to-be graduate, I’ve been learning the importance of cooking my own meals. One kitchen gadget I cannot be without are spring-loaded tongs that make easy work when I’m cooking something, either in the oven or on the stovetop. :)

1038
Marta R. December 3, 2011 at 8:08 am

Our most essential kitchen tool is our little kitchen compost bin. We put all our scraps in it and bring it out to our big compost bin outside. Not only do we lessen our garbage but we put it to great use in our garden. It is the perfect cycle!

Interestingly our kitchen compost bin is an old chamber pot with a lid and handle for easy carrying. We have two, both of which we got at antique stores. They also look great in our kitchen!

1042
Deb Stoltzfus December 3, 2011 at 8:28 am

I have to say my Pizza Cutter….LOVE it!! What a great giveaway!!:)

1043
Carla December 3, 2011 at 8:33 am

I love my microplane grater, so the peeler grabbed my attention. My favorite kitchen utensil, however, are my silicone spatulas. They are always dirty because they are the first thing I use whether stirring up pancakes, making scrabbled eggs, or stirring a sauce on the stove.

1044
Arilla December 3, 2011 at 8:35 am

My favorite kitchen tool right now is a bright red wide-mouth kitchen funnel. Walmart – .99 cents! I’m making my own baby food for my little boy and this funnel is the best thing ever for quickly and easily filling mason jars. And the color red makes me smile.

1045
The Priest's December 3, 2011 at 8:41 am

Hey! I am pregnant and daydreaming about making my own baby food! Any suggestions, recipes, etc.? Thanks!

1046
Tracy December 3, 2011 at 8:38 am

A great knife, of course (my inexpensive Santoku is my favorite right now), but I use my garlic press a lot….

1047
Lisa J December 3, 2011 at 8:45 am

My meat thermometer. The kind where you stick the probe in the meat, set the temp you want it to be, stick it in the oven and wait for the alarm to sound when it reaches the temp. No more overcooked meat!!

1048
Missie December 3, 2011 at 8:47 am

Kitchen shears!

1049
Tiffany December 3, 2011 at 8:49 am

This is an awesome giveaway!! I definitely need a good, sharp knife.

1050
karen December 3, 2011 at 8:50 am

a good paring knife is probably my most versatile tool
Hard to choose between that and the hard silicone spatulas and pizza cutter though.
Love microplane zesters and would love to win this prize!

1051
Pam December 3, 2011 at 8:53 am

Two favorites: My Wusthof knife and my meat thermometer (changed the way I grilled). But these tools would be my new favorites!

1052
Kyla December 3, 2011 at 8:57 am

My pineapple cutter…it peels, cores, and slices the whole thing for you!!!

1053
Tracy December 3, 2011 at 8:58 am

I have a pair of Henckels kitchen shears that are still going strong after many years. They even survived being run over by cars on the main road outside our neighborhood after I accidentally left them on the back bumper of the car and drove off! They’re a little beat up, but they work wonderfully!

1054
Karen B December 3, 2011 at 8:59 am

my kitchen scissors!

1055
Kelly Jo December 3, 2011 at 9:06 am

I’m fairly boring, but my essential is my Kitchenaid Mixer. I grew up with one and never knew how to bake without one until I moved out on my own. Needless to say, I quickly learned how much I loved it and promptly bought my own.

1056
Ashley Bogad December 3, 2011 at 9:24 am

I could not live without my mini chopper. Especially when chopping onions!

1057

I would absolutely love to get my hands on the the Herb Mill – saves time and the results look amazing!

1058
Nuria December 3, 2011 at 9:37 am

My favorite kitchen tool is definitely my food processor, it just helps out a lot and save me time. I like how fast it makes sauces and vegetable creams, and smoothies.
Love it.

1059
MsCellania December 3, 2011 at 9:37 am

The most used, best-purposed tool in my kitchen is a Berndes super flexible spatula with holes, designed by Karl-Axel Andersson/Morgan Ferm. They are sold for around $7 at Williams Sonoma and will make over-easy eggs picture perfect, as well as having the proper length to easily flip BIG pancakes. Buy more than one; you will go nuts looking for it if it’s in the dishwasher…

1060
Monica Newman December 3, 2011 at 9:49 am

I love my zester! It is a combo, with micro zesting, built in peel slicer, and juicer! its the best.

1061
Emily December 3, 2011 at 9:54 am

The one thing I could not go with out are my whisks, I seem to use them almost every day!

1062
Jennifer P. December 3, 2011 at 10:01 am

Kitchenaid Mixer…I do a lot of baking…and love the mixer, as well as Pampered Chef measuring spoons!

1063
MaryW December 3, 2011 at 10:03 am

My favorite tool is my hands…without those, nothing else is possible :) Next to that, I’d have to say my Kitchen Aid Mixer, which I bought in 1992…it’s still going strong!

1064
Kat Meller December 3, 2011 at 10:04 am

I really like my microplane that I use for cheeses and chocolates – between that and a good set of ceramic knives I just found – I’m having fun “playing” in the kitchen.

But then I love kitchen tools and equipment

1065
Deborah Barletta December 3, 2011 at 10:06 am

I’ve got the zester and it is one of the most used tools I have!

1066

1069
steve risberg December 3, 2011 at 10:16 am

the herb mill will save tons of time and effort!!

1070
Ishnar Lopez December 3, 2011 at 10:19 am

A chef’s knife makes all the difference when cooking, I love Shun Classic 4.25 Mini Chefs Knife. I bought this recently at Crate&Barrel because I’ve had the Shun Utility Knife and adored it. This knife feels great in the hand, has good weight and heft for such a small, easily-handled knife. It does a lot of things that you might think you’d use a paring knife for, but the depth of the blade makes cutting through thicker foods and chopping a breeze. I find myself using it for all kinds of everyday tasks.

1071
LolaT December 3, 2011 at 10:21 am

I don’t use this all the time, but when I do, I love it anew every time. It’s a little cookie dough scooper just like an ice cream scooper with the little lever that swipe the scoop out cleany onto the cookie sheet and produces perfectly round blobs of the same size.

1072
Kel December 3, 2011 at 10:33 am

My spoon/spatula thingee. I use it every time I mix up anything – it gets every drop out of the bowl without any waste.

1073
Molly G. December 3, 2011 at 10:54 am

I really love my stand mixer! I use it several times a week and can’t remember what I did before I had one.

1074
Mike Brandon December 3, 2011 at 10:58 am

I would have to go with the peeler. I’ve peeled potatoes in the army with a knife. I’ve peeled potatoes for my mother, my wife and for my own cooking with a knife. YuK!
A peeler works better and faster and cleaner and is a joy to use.

The herb mill looks interesting.

All the utensils are great and one could say necessary. The comments will be interesting.

1075
Tina Dammrich December 3, 2011 at 10:58 am

I could not live without my food processor. I use it for cookies, soup, pie crust, pizza dough, pesto, grating cheese…..How could you not have one. I have a small one, cheap ones and one good one. I love them all.

1076
Tammie December 3, 2011 at 11:02 am

Having a good sharp knife. I can’t do without my knife, always need it for chopping veggies.

1077

I don’t know how I survived without my stick blender, but once I got one there was no turning back! This giveaway looks awesome!

1078
Emily December 3, 2011 at 11:08 am

Besides my coffee maker? I have a set of bamboo stirring spoons that are easy clean up and remind me of making cookies with my grandma- no room for a big mixer in my kitchen, so everything is mixed by hand!!

1079

1083
Kate December 3, 2011 at 11:24 am

I cannot live without my Microplane fine premium zester/grater. It’s my “go-to” piece! Works with everything – from lemon & orange zest to parmesean cheese to nutmeg! I love it so much that I bought a course grater for even more cheesy goodness. They stay sharp and work like a charm!

1084
elizabeth December 3, 2011 at 11:31 am

I have to say my knife. It’s amazing what a big difference a good knife makes!

1085
Marlene December 3, 2011 at 11:39 am

A good set of knives is essential for creating great dishes but I must say what I find myself using over and over again are my kitchen shears. I use them for prepping almost every dish I prepare.

1086
Caryn December 3, 2011 at 11:43 am

I make homemade flour tortillas and I couldn’t live without my tortilla roller. It’s different from other pastry rollers in that it’s smaller and doesn’t have handles.

Of your different tools, i really like the herb mill. That could become my new must have tool.

1090
Tess December 3, 2011 at 11:53 am

I hope I get picked! This kitchen stuff looks AWESOME and would be a total upgrade from my college hand-me-down collection of kitchen tools (which has gotten quite rusty, to be honest!) Microplane: I want you!

1091
day December 3, 2011 at 11:58 am

These all look fab, but I have to say the peeler is my fav. Love the orientation of the blade to the handle, looks so comfortable to use!

1092
Laura M. December 3, 2011 at 12:07 pm

Wow! That Herb Mill is really cool. I have not seen that in the stores:) Thanks for sharing.

1093
Millie December 3, 2011 at 12:11 pm

I’d love to try the Herb Mill. I’ll have to put that on my Christmas list! Picking a favorite tool would be like choosing my favorite child……..it’s too hard…….I love my gadgets….oh and I love my kids too!

1094
Patti W December 3, 2011 at 12:13 pm

I have to have my microplane. My daughter gave it to me for christmas a few years ago and I wouldn’t give it up for anything.

1095

Carmi December 3, 2011 at 1:13 pm

I use my 8 inch chefs knife almost everyday.

1108
cynthia nowak December 3, 2011 at 1:25 pm

My processor does things that just nothing else will do. It’s heavy and I get tired of washing the parts, but there you are. Close second would be my microplaner. It turns lemon peel into a cloud of lovely lemony zest that just dissolves into whatever you are making. Terrific!

1109
Megan December 3, 2011 at 1:27 pm

I love a small colander that can be versatile for many jobs!

1110
Meg M December 3, 2011 at 1:34 pm

My favorite would be the glove, if I had one! I’m always slicing a nail when I prep my food, and this would save so so many manicures!

I couldn’t live without my kitchen scale. I love to bake and find that weighing my ingredients makes for more accurate and consistent recipes.

My favorite is my Kenwood Chef ♥ I love it! And mine is almost 50 years old. Bought by my husbands grandma when my husband mother was getting married so she could make food for her wedding. How cool is that?? I was so happy when I got it and it’s bot awesome to use and awesome as a kitchen decoration.

I know it will probably sound weird – but with 3 kids in grade school and our busy schedules – right now my favorite is my crockpot.

I would say my most essential kitchen item is a great 8 inch chef’s knife. It really makes cooking and preparing food so much more enjoyable! After that, it’s probably my mini food processor.
