Hi Amanda and Kevin. To celebrate the end of 2010, I will be staying in, eating homemade Prime Rib Roast, scalloped potatoes, and a veggie. We’ve not decided on the veggie :-). I know I’ll make it to about 11:00 PM, then I’ll pass out in the recliner and she’ll wake me up when it’s time for the countdown. I know it’s kind of boring, but it keeps us off the road!

Remember – DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE Everyone! Have a safe, Happy New Year and here’s to 2011!

Happy New Year! :)

LOL I am hoping to plan something small to celebrate for just him and I, but the plans are not yet definitive!!

Thanks for the chance though! Awesome prize!!

Hope yours is a great one!

Staying in with a good movie and my husband…. also a bottle of sparkling berry wine that I got at a wine tasting last week with co-workers… it may seem lame to stay in on new years, but I am really looking forward to that bottle of wine, and don’t want to share! Also, we don’t have to worry about all the intoxicated drivers on the roads.

With all that cookware, I would never have an excuse for ordering take-out again!

Kay December 31, 2010 at 8:55 am

What a fabulous prize!

We will be having our annual Hogmanay bash – as a Scot living in the US, it’s only fitting that I be the one to host in our circle of friends. (why I also host the annual 4th of July celebration is a different story!) Over the years we have meshed Scottish traditions with American traditions so it has become a truly international celebration.

Happy 2011 to everyone – here’s hoping it brings us all what we wish for most, whatever that might be.

205
Cindy Turner December 31, 2010 at 8:55 am

Barb S December 31, 2010 at 8:57 am

I am a new blog reader and love your recipes! I made the pulled pork over the holidays for our out of town guests and it was delicious! Tonight we’re hosting a dinner party for 8. Asparagus and proscuitto, marinated spicy shrimp, sausage stuffed mushrooms, chicken Marbella, mashed potatoes, endive/walnut salad, apple crisp and home made toffee. And of course champagne! Happy New Year!

223
Krys December 31, 2010 at 8:57 am

I can’t live without Nonstick Cookware! Haha! It makes everything so much easier.

As for tonight, my fiance works from 5am to 2pm today, so once he gets home he wants to take a nap so he can stay up until midnight with me, it’s our second New Years together & last year he had to work (So it’s kind of our first).

I currently have my Corned Beef Brisket in the Crockpot. This might sound like a strange thing to eat because it’s not MARCH, but my fiance is Pennsylvania Dutch & it’s a tradition to eat Corned Beef & Cabbage as ‘Good Luck Food’ for the new year.

After that we hope to snuggle up on the couch & watch movies until next year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR KEVIN & AMANDA!

224
Mandy Merrill December 31, 2010 at 8:57 am

Tonight I will be celebrating the new year in my bed because I am sick :( BUMMER!!

228
Debbie H. December 31, 2010 at 8:58 am

We’re definitely staying in. For several years we were out of town with the kids during New Year’s Eve which was always a blast. Now the kids (twins) are 16. The kids are going over to friends’ houses, and we old folks are staying home. I watch the ball drop on TV and usually go pick up the kids. Very low key!

229
Sharon Kay December 31, 2010 at 8:58 am

For the first time, I think we may be having a quiet night at home with the kids (instead of friends coming over) … playing Mexican dominoes, and eating Little Smokies wrapped in bacon with a brown sugar cinnamon spread on them & baked (pork! lol) … and I’m sure we’ll be up until the ball drops.

230
Karen in Brookville December 31, 2010 at 8:59 am

We will be staying in with our kids. A good dinner and then TV and whatever until us parents are way too tired. Hopefully we will make it until the ball drops.

231
Liz December 31, 2010 at 8:59 am

Tonight is our annual fondue night in with my best friend and her family. The kids play wii and we feast on everything! It’s pretty low-key and we are usually home at 12:15 am – but it’s a fun, celebrated “last meal” of the year.

232
Melissa December 31, 2010 at 8:59 am

240
Sheri Whitfield December 31, 2010 at 9:00 am

We will probably take advantage of the Olive Garden gift certificate my mother sent us for Christmas. Since we’re fuddy-duddies (!) I don’t know if we’ll stay up to see the ball drop. However, our “interesting” neighbors and their fireworks will probably force the issue! And my poor dogs will be scared to death. :(

241
Mandi December 31, 2010 at 9:00 am

Very quiet evening but we are really celbrating because the oncologist has told me that the cancer has not spead to my lymph nodes so I’m here for a purpose because God hasn’t decided he needs me yet.

251

With 3 kids (ages 6, 7 and 10), we can’t think of a better way to ring in 2011 than with the kiddos sharing a bottle of Sparkling Apple Cider. And with me and my sweetie sharing a bottle of Champagne (or 2) and enjoying our family.

327
Andrea December 31, 2010 at 9:15 am

My little one has been sick all week, so we should really stay home. Need to have her ready for school in one week. Happy New Year’s!

Happy New Year to you and all your readers.
Ah, a new year, and a clean slate…love it.
Will finish the old year with chinese take out, then on to friends
home for laughter, goodies for dessert, and fun and games, then have
a noon pot luck to attend with our neighbors in our mobil home
community – I am making “Sylvia’s Berry French Toast” yum! Sylvia is
my friend from high school and a wonderful cook.

352
Diane December 31, 2010 at 9:19 am

Our village business district completed a HUGE redo of the streets and did away with stop lights and put in round-a-bouts. Our little community looks terrific and there’s lots happening now. To celebrate there’s a “Rock around the Round-A-Bout” with ball drop in the center of town….music, food, fun. Should be a great time.

353
Megan King December 31, 2010 at 9:19 am

Like many others, my hubbie and I will be staying home, but that’s OK. Our teen-age daughter is going to celebrate at a friend’s house with lots of other teens. Our son is going out with friends too, but he and his law school friends are (hopefully) all spending the night here. Hubs and I will definitely (?) stay awake to midnight to watch the festivities on TV and wait for phone calls from the kids wishing us Happy New Year — and letting us know their safe! Our other daughter is teaching in Japan — guess it’s already New Years there!

355
Desirea December 31, 2010 at 9:19 am

358

Kevin & Amanda,
My husband and I are spending New Years Eve 2010 the best possible way EVER!! My darling father is losing his battle to cancer. We are going in to sit with him and my mother until we need to get him into bed. Then my wonderful husband is going home to be with our kids and I get to bring in the New Year by staying overnight by my dad’s bedside. How blessed am I? It breaks my heart fiercely to know I will no longer get to be with him, but he is truly the winner..Heaven bound.

Blessings to you both in 2011.

Ruth

445
Halle December 31, 2010 at 9:35 am

We’re celebrating in a way we never have before, a dear friend’s wedding!
Lots of people scoffed at my friend Katie for having a NYE wedding celebration, but to me it makes perfect sense for so many reasons!
One, everyone (including me) is always looking for something to do on New Yer’s Eve. Two, we’re celebrating with a huge bunch of people we love (so not easy to organize other under circumstances)! And Three, it’s at a hotel, so everyone has a safe place to stay, and party the night away.
I am so looking forward to it!
Happy New Year Everyone :)

446
Liz Gerstung December 31, 2010 at 9:35 am

Looking forward to a new year with new possibilities.

We’ll be staying in, unless we get invited to a last minute party.
The last few years we haven’t been able to stay awake until the ball drops! I have a feeling it might be like that tonight :)

“How will you be celebrating tonight?”
Quietly at home with the four loves of my life, my handsome husband and three beautiful daughters, sipping champagne and sparkling apple/grape cider.
Are you staying in? Going out?
In….it is too cold and crazy out there! :-)
Waiting up to see the ball drop?
Oh yes and will even let the littles stay up!
Happy New Year’s eve!

Staying in. Having an 11 month old that goes to bed at 8 and a husband that works at 11pm does not allow for much “going out” time. But that’s ok, sometimes staying in is nice ;)

590

What a fun give-away and a perfect reason for me to leave a comment and not feel like a stalker.
I’ve recently discovered your blog and I love it. Especially the photography – you are amazing! Will you come over and give me some lessons? :)
Tonight we’ll be having some families over and it will be a kid-friendly night. We’ve got winter storms rolling in so it will be interesting to see if people have to stay.
Enjoy your evening!

We are spending New Year’s Eve with some wonderful friends (and, for my husband, co-workers) around a bonfire, with some wonderful food and conversation. For us, New Year’s Eve is about reflecting on the past year, with all it’s blessings and heartaches (that sadly, none of us are exempt from), and welcoming the new year surrounded by those you love.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful and blessed 2011.

Liz

marywithgarden December 31, 2010 at 10:26 am

We are still on the fence about how we will celebrate the end of 2010 and the beginning of 2011. We just spent a glorious 10 days with family here and we cooked up a storm. Boy, these pots and pans would have come in handy! Christmas dinner featured a crackling pork loin with port and fig sauce, portabello risotto and steamed broccolli. Christmas eve we made homemade butternut squash filled raviolli with a mascarpone sage sauce served with a spinach, fennel, pomegranate and blackberry salad dressed with an orange tarragon vinagrette. We do like to mix it up!

671
BettyC December 31, 2010 at 10:26 am

Makenzie Flores December 31, 2010 at 10:34 am

We have an 11 month old who wakes up at 6:30am everyday ready to play, so we will be eating a nice meal and going to bed early! It’s weird how it seems like just a short while ago we were in college, and we would be all pumped to go to an awesome New Year’s party and now we can’t even stay up til midnight!

708
Jen December 31, 2010 at 10:35 am

Well, we had planned to pack up the kids and travel 6 hours to meet up with friends from college. We graduated 8 years ago and it’s been over a year since we’ve seen everyone. Instead we are staying in because we are sick. Such a bummer. I think once the little ones are tucked in bed, my hubby and I will cuddle up, watch a movie and hopefully make it to midnight…but might have to call it early. Not what we had planned, but being with my hubby is wonderful too.

709

I came across this quote yesterday and thought it was appropriate as we head into a New Year.

“Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.” —Carol Burnett

Around 11:00, the guys will get out their fireworks, saving the biggest and the best ones for midnight, of course. A nice, laid-back way to welcome in the new year for us country folks! Winning your wonderful prize would be a GREAT way to begin 2011!! :) I LOVE your blog! Tried the candied pecans last night…AMAZING!! Thanks for sharing!

Tonight my husband and I will be relaxing, doing absolutely NOTHING!! We have relocated just this week (from KS to ND) and it was a total nightmare!! We both start new jobs on Monday. We are also shell shocked with all the snow and freezing temperatures that we are now forced to be accustomed to! Nothing sounds better to me right now than cuddling on the couch with my hubby and 2 year old daughter and watching the festivities on TV!

781
Judy Christensen December 31, 2010 at 10:58 am

We are staying inside – enjoying the quiet – watching tv – hopefully making it to midnight!!!! Having our chips/dips — have thoroughly enjoyed your news all year long – here’s to a great 2011.

There is an outdoor event in the city where you can skate downtown and then go into the local events’ venue (K-rock), where they have entertainment for the whole family. It is topped off with outdoor fireworks at midnight. So, we’re deciding between that or taking the kids to Harry Potter…which would be less festive but warmer. Maybe a little of both:)

786
Trisha December 31, 2010 at 11:00 am

Staying in with the kids.

787

Christmas tree will probably come down though. Love the Holiday time!!

Roast pork is on the menu!

We’ll be watching Jeopardy! and a movie or two, playing Scrabble, and attempting to stay up and watch the ball drop at midnight. I suspect I’ll be the only one, of the three of us, who will achieve that “midnight” goal.

822
crystal December 31, 2010 at 11:10 am

Tonight I will be watching a movie with my Hubby and working on Valentine’s Cards, not too exciting by most standards, but I’m really looking forward to it. :)

824
Jenni Lovins December 31, 2010 at 11:11 am

We’ll try to keep my boys (3 and 5) up late by baking cookies. We like to change the clocks and make them think 9:00 is 12:00. Much easier and the kids are so excited they got to stay up until midnight! It works until my 5 year old catches on in a couple years I’m sure! Happy New Year!
Jenni

825

835
Karla B. December 31, 2010 at 11:16 am

As boring as it sounds, I will be spending tonight by myself. Our kids and grandkids live on the other side of the state, and my husband is working 3000 miles away. But he will be back in 2-3 weeks. We’ll celebrate the New Year together then (as well as Thanksgiving, Christmas and all the other holidays we missed while apart).

836
Linda Manson December 31, 2010 at 11:16 am

We will be staying in with a gourmet meal cooked by Hubby in Calphalon pans!! Then us old folks will be in bed by 10:00.

838
Angela December 31, 2010 at 11:16 am

I don’t normally “celebrate” – I’ll probably be up editing photos until I’m too tired to see and then go to bed. However, my stepmom always cooks a traditional New Year’s dinner for us all so it’s our last family get together of the Christmas/New Year season.

Happy New Year!!

839
Becky F December 31, 2010 at 11:17 am

My husband and I have reservations @ 10:00p.m. tonight at our favorite restaurant which happens to be right around the corner from where we live. For the past five years we’ve been ringing in the New Year at this local establishment and it’s now become one of our own traditions. Happy New Year everyone!

840
Kim H December 31, 2010 at 11:17 am

We will be spending the evening at home. It’s our little guy’s first New Years so we want to be here with him. There’s a pretty good chance he will be up at midnight.
Happy New Year!!

841
Scott W. December 31, 2010 at 11:17 am

We’re watching the Florida State-South Carolina football game. Then we’ll watch the ball drop on TV with champagne at midnight.

842
Julie B December 31, 2010 at 11:17 am

SADLY spending the evening in a hotel in Pryer, OK! Traveling home to Houston, we experienced car troubles that will take two days to repair. We were hosting a large New Year’s party for our friends and friends of our teenage boys. The fun of cooking and enjoying the company of our friends has been extinguished for the New Year’s celebration. We are trying to make the best of it for our children’s sake. All calls to friends have been made to cancel. Guess we will be toasting the new year with delivery pizza and soda in our hotel room. We are blessed to be safe and have a room to stay in…just not the celebration that we had planned.

843
Kristine December 31, 2010 at 11:17 am

I’ll b partying like 1965…asleep like a baby! :)

847
Steph H. December 31, 2010 at 11:19 am

We’ll be celebrating tonight like we have celebrated most of our 15 New Year’s Eves together – cuddled up on the couch watching the ball drop after a fun meal we prepare. What will be eating? Well, first there is the mandatory herring (for good luck) and then the roast duck, fingerling potatoes, red cabbage and cucumber salad (a rather German meal reminiscent of my childhood and of my hubby’s heritage).

We’ll each also create our personal lists of intentions for 2011 and will share them with each other on New Year’s Day.

I can’t think of a better way to spend the evening that with my honey, at home. Happy New Year to you all!

848
Andree Close December 31, 2010 at 11:19 am

Dream Cookware For My Love – Every Day is a New Year For My love and I. We were Jr. High Sweethearts and reunited 8 years ago after 30 some odd years of not knowing how to find each other – We have not been apart since. We will spend this New Year’s Eve together, at home, cooking up Beef Stroganoff, sharing a little glass of wine and, waiting for, and watching, the ball drop. This may sound like a boring way to spend the New Year to others, but I wouldn’t trade it for the fanciest party on the planet. I feel Truly Blessed. My Love is an Exquisite Cook and it would bring me the Greatest Joy to tell him that I won the cookware sharing “Our Story”. Thank You for this opportunity. The first thing I would create for him in new pans would be my “Ginger Pork Chops”…Smiles…
Happy New Year! May Yours Be Filled With Love, Joy and Laughter – Sincerely.
Laurie

My fiance and I will be celebrating New Years Eve tonight by going over to a friends house. They are having other couples over and we’re grilling some food, spending time together. We won’t have to spend money, drive with unsafe drivers on the road. We’ll be ringing in the New Year together as friends which sounds very nice to me!

My fiance and I are on a very tight budget saving for our upcoming wedding in April, and our first home. We don’t have a pot and pan set yet, so winning this would be great! Thank you for the opportunity to win! :) Happy New Year to you, Kevin, and your fur babies :)

1037
Mari December 31, 2010 at 12:20 pm

Not that we really do anything special for New Year’s usually, but this year I’m waaaaay too sick to go anywhere! There are other things that are keeping us home as well (4 year old, nasty weather, etc) but this year looks to be singularly boring. :)
I’m OK with that!

1038
Darlene December 31, 2010 at 12:21 pm

My husband and I will have a nice romantic dinner at a beautiful local winery. Then we’ll stay up till midnight for the countdown.

We’ll be celebrating by eating yummy food at my mom’s & playing games! Then, it is home early to put our two kidlets to bed by 8:00–of course I will stay up & watch the ball drop though…tradition! :) Even though our New Year activities are quiet, I love it & wouldn’t change a thing!!

Sarah December 31, 2010 at 12:24 pm

Tonight my husband Ryan and I (along with our two daughters 7 and 4) are cooking a huge Chinese food dinner at home! We’ll be having Pork Fried Rice, Sweet and Sour Pork and Shrimp, Orange Garlic Beef (made with Elk of course), Spicy Garlic Chicken, Asian Cashew Chicken, Pork Potstickers, and Chicken and Shrimp Eggrolls. We’re having our friends and their two kids as well as my brother-in-law and his two kids over so we can eat, watch movies, eat, watch fireworks, eat, watch the ball drop, and, of course, eat!!!

Ordinarily I’d be whipping up a few dozen filled cupcakes (I have about 3 dozen different types that I make now), but having made over 12 dozen for various friends, family, and 2nd grade school treats for the Christmas holiday we’ll be eating my special Chex Mix and Pumpkin Chocolate Chip cookies instead!

1044
