Mini Album Project: Using Your Scraps

I don’t know about you, but I have a ton of scraps in my scrapbook room! All leftover from various scrapbooking projects, just sitting around, taking up space. I keep saving all of mine- they’re too good to throw away and one day I’ll definitely use them in some really cool project! But um, seeing them just shoved in a pile in the corner of my desk isn’t very inspiring. :P

The idea for a cardboard mini album came to me this summer when I had about 27 cardboard boxes piled up in the corner of my scrapbook room from various online shopping therapy sessions. It was a holiday weekend, so the trash hadn’t run, and I still had another week of staring at those boxes before I could put them out. I had to do something with them- if only to save me from having to stare at those boxes for another second!

The first thing I did was pick my color scheme. I always consult this site- great ideas! Very inspiring.

Then I went through my scraps and pulled out all the salvageable pieces in that color scheme- they didn’t have to go together, or match exactly, or come from the same designer.

I inked all the edges of the scraps to help bring them together for a unified look in the album.

Lots of tags, trinkets, and pull-outs in between each page for journaling. Which I haven’t done yet. :blush:

The cardboard is so fun and the size is perfect for small, 2×3 photos.

Then all you have to do is tie everything together with some twine!

I’m teaching at the Scrapista 2009 event!

That’s right! I’m super-excited to announce that come this fall (September 26 and 27th to be exact!) I will be in Atlanta, Georgia teaching at the fabulous Scrapista 2009 event! :)

Scrapista is a weekend scrapbooking retreat, open to any and all scrapbookers who want to get away for some food, fun, classes, prizes and most importantly, relaxing and uninterrupted scrapbooking time!

Did you see the part where they’re going to have a *massage therapist* on site?? Oh. I. am. so. there.

A Digi-scrappin’ freebie!

I don’t know what came over me. I was just learning how to use patterns and textures in photoshop. That’s it, I swear. But then I saw this really cute pillow in this decorating magazine. And I thought, Man, that would make some really cute scrapbook paper. And we all know I’m not above scanning in a pillow to make a cute design. Heck, I’ve even done it with a dog bed to make a blog background before. The next thing I knew I was acting like I knew what I was doing and trying to make digital scrapbooking papers :p

Now don’t get too excited or anything. ;) I don’t think this is going to be a regular gig for me. (Are those famous last words?) I enjoyed making the papers, but that’s about it. lol …You’ll be able to tell from the glaring lack of elements in this “kit”. Can it even be called a kit if it only has like 3 different elements? Hah.

Well anyway. Since I made it and everything, I figured I might as well share it with you guys too. :D
