Miley decided that after Howie shared his tricks with you last week, today she’d like to share a few of her tricks with you too. Yahoo!

But not before giving me a disdainful look for not treating her just for being beautiful.

Miley politely reminds me that she is a Master Agility Champion, she can handle these simple tricks with ease.

This is Howie.

Howie has a few tricks he’d like to show you.

Play dead, Howie!

Very convincing. Now can you beg?

Uh-huh. Now howsa ’bout you toss some treats into my big ‘mouf?

Let’s do a few more tricks, then I’ll give you that treat, Howser. Show me how you can shake!

Done. How about those treats?

I know you’re gonna give me some treats, right?

I don’t think she’s gonna give me any treats.

Just a few more tricks! Gimme Five!

Good job, buddy!

Oh yeah, I see treats in my future now, I can smell ‘em!

Mama. Come on. Give up the good stuff.

Look Who’s Back!

It’s Louie!

With his curly ears and floppy jowls…

And wrinkly, pudgy paws.

Did I mention his giant, floppy ears?

Miley and Howie got to see their cousin Louie this weekend over Thanksgiving.

He’s a little bit bigger since the last time they saw him.

But try as he might, Louie still can’t keep up with this rambunctious duo.

He just howls to keep them in line.

Wait for me!

Doh. Where did they go?

He will hightail it to the nearest human willing to give a belly rub, though.

Louie got lots of belly rubs this weekend. And scratches behind the ears.

Did somebody say belly rub?

Cutie.

This face is kinda hard to resist.

Those cashmere ears. That lagging tongue.

But bassets don’t have a lock on those crazy, mid-run faces.

Fall Afternoons

Fall afternoons are the best.

Miley and Howie especially think so.

It’s not too hot, not too cold, and the sun is just too beautiful to stay inside.

Yep. Fall afternoons are irresistible.

Miley and Howie get so excited to go outside and play. They’re so fun to watch.

The simple act of putting on shoes and walking towards the back door have them jumping and spinning in circles.

A few weeks ago we got Miley a new frisbee, and she’s getting really good at catching it.

She just snatches it out of mid-air!

The girl has intense focus as she tracks her target.

Miley’s all smiles as the frisbee takes flight..

And she spots it! Look how her expression changes here. So serious!

She comes away with it one more time!

Keep your eye on the prize, Miley!

And even when she doesn’t catch it…

She still snatches it up. That frisbee’s not getting away!

Look at this smiley little guy.

He’s got a favorite toy too.

We get these little squeaker soccer balls from PetSmart and Howie just goes nuts for them.

The look on this crazy happy face says it all!

Puppy in a Bucket

Oh my goodness, I have no idea what my crazy dog was thinking here!

We were at the dog park. They had a bucket of water out for the dogs to get a drink. But not Howie. Howie thought it was a Boston terrier sized swimming pool just for him. I only wish I’d caught this video from the beginning, but I grabbed my my phone as soon as I saw what he was doing. It was all I could do to keep from cracking up the entire video!

Louie

Meet Louie! He’s a hound dog.

Louie is Miley and Howie’s new cousin. This sweet little fella belongs to Kevin’s brother.

We got to meet him last weekend and I fell in love. I vowed to puppy snatch Louie and bring him home with me.

He’s got a heart-shaped spot on his shoulder. Melt.

And puppy breath. Sweet, precious puppy breath.

I miss puppy breath.

Louie can run!

But not for long before he tires out.

He’s got comically large, adorable, floppy ears.

And ginormous Frito feet.

He’s soft, wrinkly, wiggly, scoopable, and huggable.

I’m definitely puppy snatching this cutie with his smooshy, kissable jowls and wet, curious nose.

Louie can howl.

Play with me Howie!

Howie just doesn’t understand.

They don’t speak the same language.

Louie tried so hard to keep up with Miley and Howie but they just ran right over him.

Howie is a little jealous that he’s not the baby anymore.

Oh Howie. My little gray-faced man. I am in complete denial of the fact that you’re almost 5 years old.

This is my girl. My darlin’ heart.

Being this cute is exhausting.

Return of the Swamp Monsters

This weekend, it rained.

A lot.

But by Saturday afternoon, a small break in the downpour arrived.

Confined to the house for the better part of two days because of the storm, Miley and Howie jumped at the chance for a few minutes of outdoor freedom.

To do this.

And this.

Nothing thrills them more than the swampy, marshy, sunken pit of the backyard that only appears in the spring after a heavy rain.

Howie’s no stranger to the mud.

Get ready…

Plop!

Just before he reaches his destination, Howie gets really excited and starts running like this.

This mini soccer ball is his LIFE.

He carries it with him everywhere.

To bed. To eat. To pee.

Sorry.

Don’t worry! I’ll save you!

Glurk.

Miley goes in for the grab…

And comes up victorious!

Miley. She’s the dainty one.

So prim. So proper.

Spring. The time of year where we say, Oh well! They needed a bath anyway.

Howie

Apples are another fruit I like to keep around the house to snack on.

Someone else in the house really likes them too.

This little stinker.

Judging by the looks of those pudgy neck rolls, I think Howie could stand a few more fruits and veggies in his diet.

Maybe a little more exercise.

You may not know this, but Howie’s pretty aloof most of the time.

Yep. He pretty much does his own thing.

But I love this little stinker.

Crunch.

And he loves apples.

Yep. That’s my Howie.

Always the model of class and decorum.

The poster child of gentility.

And always and forevermore…

A big stinker.

The MACH Bar

This will be the last of the MACH posts. Promise! At least until the next one. After earning a MACH, you get to take a bar off the course and keep it as a trophy.

People usually decorate their MACH bars and set them out for their friends to sign, to commemorate the special accomplishment.

At the trial in Nashville, where Miley earned her MACH, I noticed they had a table set out for MACH bars and they were all decorated so sweetly with the dogs’ names and sparkly MACH stickers.

(Here’s a note from a fellow Auburn fan!)

I had no idea where to get these special MACH stickers, but I did have some vinyl from Expressions Vinyl.

I cut the vinyl with the Silhouette, and it did great sticking to the PVC pipe.

I added a silhouette of Miley, made from a photo of her jumping through a tire during an agility trial.

And added her name in some pretty hot pink vinyl.

Expressions Vinyl (with adhesive backing) is great for scrapbooking, home decor and many other crafting projects. It works great with the Silhouette, Cricut, and other craft cutters. But if you don’t have a craft cutter, the vinyl can be easily cut with an Xacto knife. Expressions Vinyl carries high-quality vinyl in a variety of sizes and over 50 colors.
