Kevin & Amanda 10 Year Birthday Bash!

Kevin and Amanda 10 Year Birthday Bash

This week is the 10 year anniversary of kevinandamanda.com. I can hardly believe it’s been ten years!! I feel so, so incredibly lucky that I’ve been able to share these photos, tutorials, travels, and all of my favorite things with you guys for the past 10 years. I absolutely love sharing this site with you — it is truly a dream come true. I cannot put into words how grateful I am for each and every one of you who stops by, and for all your sweet and encouraging comments over the years. You guys are the best.

Kevin and Amanda 10 Year Birthday Bash Kevin & Amanda, March 22, 2002

Kevin bought me the domain name kevinandamanda.com for the one year anniversary of our first date, March 22, 2002. We were two months and nine days away from being married. I was already “blogging” at the time — even though back then we didn’t really officially have blogs as we know them today! But I still loved taking photos and posting them online, sharing a peek into our lives, what we were up to, and things I loved. Kevin has always had a talent for showing his affection through romantic, thoughtful gifts, and our own domain was so perfectly me. He surprised me that afternoon by asking if I’d ever thought about getting my own domain name for my site. My answer was of course yes!! He asked me what name I’d choose, and without hesitation I answered kevinandamanda.com. He sat down at the computer. Let’s pull it up to see if anyone’s taken it yet, he said. As he typed in the letters — kevinandamanda.com — and the page slowly loaded, I could tell there was something already there.

Kevin and Amanda 10 Year Birthday Bash Take a peek at what Kevin & Amanda has looked like over the years.

It was a countdown to our wedding day.

The most memorable gift I ever gave was a roll-top desk I got for my first husband for his birthday. He’s been wanting one for a long time. I put it on lay-away at a furniture store in Las Vegas where we lived for 10 years. I scrimped and saved, including loose change, and finally got it paid for. I was so thrilled when I got it paid for and had it delivered. He was really surprised and pleased. The most memorable gift(s) I ever received were my 7 children….8-)

Last February my husband and I celebrated 10 years of marriage.
Let’s see … the best gift I received from my husband, speaking on the material, is definitely my goal and my 50mm SLR, little by little I want to keep improving my team. And in the non-material support in my new hobby, photography and blogging.

my most memorable gift would be when my dad gave me a stand mixer! even though it wasn’t the famous kitchen aid (b/c they’re expensive & i just started baking like crazy), i love it completely. the reason? i had nonchalantly told my parents that i wanted a stand mixer since it’ll be easier than the hand mixer that i had…and a few weeks later, ta-da! stand mixer! my jaw dropped.

& CONGRATS on the 10 years! i`m so happy for you two! you guys started something awesome here!

It was our first Valentine’s day together and he bought me diamond earrings. They were tiny tiny little earrings, but beautiful. He said, “I know they’re small but I wanted to be the first to get you diamonds and I promise the next diamond you get will be bigger.” 4 months later we got engaged.

Happy 10th Anniversary! Love your awesome site and beautiful photos.

One of the most memorable gifts I gave was luna moth coccoons — we ordered some two winters ago and they hatched last spring. We ended up raising four generations of lunas last summer — and we shared caterpillars and coccoons with many friends. It was pure joy to watch the transformation ourselves, but even better to hear our friends’ stories of seeing the metamorphosis firsthand.

My most memorable birthday gift was on my 50th birthday (7 years ago in July!) when my girlfriends picked me up in a car decorated with pictures of me and Paula Deen and took me to Savannah (from Palatka, FL) for a wonderful day topped off by lunch at The Lady and Sons. First of all, Happy Birthday! I have to tell you that I found you through Pioneer Woman the other day and was so impressed I signed up for your blog! I really thought the story of Kevin buying the domain name and having the countdown to your wedding was so sweet! It is nice to know there are couples like you out there, we hear so much negative in the news about marriages, nice to hear the positive stuff.

I received a memorable gift from my hubby on our first anniversary. We were dirt poor at the time, having married young (I was 19!) and we had made a deal not to do gifts. When we married I had carried a lace fan with some white daisies on it. My sweet hubby snuck that fan out and got the florist to put pretty silk daisies in for the long dead ones and wrapped it up as a surprise for our anniversary. I was so touched. It probably only cost $10, but the fact that he thought of something so meaningful to me and did it made it priceless!

I gave my Mom a memorable Christmas gift a few years back. I wrote down 52 things that I was grateful to her for, some serious, some silly, etc. . . . And I put them on slips of paper in a pretty glass jar that I wrapped with ribbons. Then, each week she would take one out and read it and have the knowledge of another reason I love and respect her. As an added surprise to me, she kept each slip and scrapbooked it with her response to me. She gave me the book the following year! We both really enjoyed this gift, which again cost almost nothing, but is priceless to us both!

Thanks for letting us share our stories and for the chance to win the Harry and David gift. I hope you have a wonderful “Birthday” week!

Congratulations on 10 years! Wow! My most memorable gift came a few years ago. When I was around 9 or 10 I asked for a trampoline. This is fifty years ago when trampolines were built on a heavy wooden frame an installed over a hole in the ground. My parents were friends with the sporting goods store owners who told them it was too dangerous. So instead, they got me charcoals and pastels and drawing paper and how to draw books and calligraphy inks and pens and books. It was the first time I had ever asked for something I did not get — however, it was the first step in a lifelong love of all things art and craft related. Best gift ever.

Congrats on 10 years! The best gift I’ve given was for my husband and I’s 25th wedding anniversary we were in Hawaii on the island of Kauai and I surprised him with a private dinner on the beach. It was so beautiful and romantic watching the sunset and reminiscing over the past 25 years.

During my first visit to the Isabella Stuart Gardner Musuem in Boston, I fell in love with a painting by John S. Sargent. I felt like I was in the room with the gyspy dancing. I could feel the music being played, it was truly fantastic. It was a very moving experience for me. On my next birthday a good friend of mine had purchased a print and made a replica of the frame from the museum. I still can help but smile when I think of it.

Congrats on 10 years!!! How exciting! The most memorable gift would have to be my Christmas gift from my now husband our first Christmas together. He gave me a picture frame and inside was his proposal. He read it to me, it ended with …. he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was a complete surprise and so romantic. Plus I will forever know every word of his proposal.

The most memorable gift I have ever recieved was when I was 16, my boyfriend at the time had moved away to Louisville, which was about an hr away from where we lived, but we decided to get together for a day just before Christmas. At the end of our day together, he goes in his room and brings out a quite heavy cardboard box. Inside are four handmade stoneware mugs, a variety of loose teas in plastic baggies and a tea ball. I have loved hot tea ever since, and have passed that love on to my four children.
This past week, I was up to Indiana from my now home in Texas for a week to visit my mom, I happened to notice the last of the four mugs, the only remnant of a gift long etched into my memory, hanging from one of my mothers cup hooks in her kitchen. I grabbed it and asked if she minded if I took it home with me. She didn’t and I think I will close this and go fix myself a cup of Chamomile and Chrysanthemum tea to enjoy the rest of my morn.

My most memorable gift was a diamond heart necklace my husband gave me for Christmas. I had wanted one for a while, but at the time, thought it was way out of our price range. Well, with the help of his mom, he got it for me. However, he forgot to bring it with him when we went home for Christmas. I had to wait a couple of days before getting my gift, but it was worth it. After about 10 years or so, I still wear the necklace all the time.

My most memorable gift was a little white Gund polar bear. I had seen it and was smitten with it. My mom was with me and saw how much I wanted it. But I was 18 and an adult so I chose to put it back. I was going through that transition period from being a child to the “real world” and it was rough for me. She gave me the bear for Christmas and it made me cry. Congrats on your 10th birthday! The most memorable gift I received was on a Christmas back in 1982 when Auburn was going to the Sugar Bowl on New Year’s Day. I have been an Auburn fan all my 60 years of life and up to that point there had been some highs in the football program but an awful lot of lows. So it was very exciting that Auburn was going to a big bowl game but I had no expectations of getting to attend. My husband surprized me with a gift of a trip to New Orleans to see the game in person. He had EVEN gotten a baby sitter for our three little children. Auburn actually won the game which was “icing on the cake.”

The best gift I’ve ever gotten was a ring my hubby got me for Christmas this year. My mom passed away in Sept. 2011 after several years struggling with dementia. The ring hubby got me has a swirly design around a center diamond, making it look like a hug. The note he put with it said that it was to remind me that even though mom is gone, I’ll always feel her arms wrapped around me when I need them most. Yep, made me cry on Christmas morning, but it was a good cry! His gifts are always thoughtful like that!

10 years! Wow! And you two look just as gorgeous as you did seated on the piano bench all those years ago!

My favorite gift has a crazy story. I’ll attempt to be brief. My husband and I often strolled by a wildlife store in our town, and I would always stop and admire the handcarved nuthatch sculpture on a piece of weathered wood. One day, it wasn’t in the window any longer. My heart sank. I’d wished I’d purchased it, but it wasn’t something I couldn’t just buy without planning. Oh well. When Christmas Eve arrived, my husband and I were exchanging our gifts and he handed me a box that was about the same size as the bird sculpture. My heart leaped. Could it possibly be? I carefully opened the box. Inside, wrapped in tissue was a gorgeous leather handled hammer. Uh huh. Hammer. My heart sank. Way down. We continued our exchange. One gift was a cute hat and mitten set. He said, “Go put on the hat and see how you like it.” So, I went to the powder room. I did as he asked. But not feeling particularly excited about a hat, and mittens, and a hammer – as nice as they all were. Then my husband said, “Look under the sink.” I opened the door and there, there was the incredibly beautiful nuthatch sculpture that had my heart. I cried. And hugged this crazy wonderful man. And the best part of this. Isn’t getting this amazing handcarved bird. It is the whole scenario, a wonderfully created memory that can be savored and retold. What a happy memory and thanks for giving me the opportunity to share it again.

Happy Birthday Kevin & Amanda!

The most memorable gift I’ve ever received was from my significant other. It’s no surprise that he’s the most thoughtful person I know, and the absolute best at gift-giving. One year I had my wallet stolen, which was precious to me. Weeks later, he gifted a new wallet (he remembered exactly the one I had before and replaced it), and inside each pocket, he left a sweet note (at least 8 of them throughout the wallet). I still keep them with me in the wallet as little, sweet reminders.

The promise ring my now-fiancé gave me four years ago. He gave it to me at a particularly difficult time in my life (I was in a traumatic car accident by myself and my grandmother died only days later) and it was just something that told me that he’s promising to be with me through everything.

The most memorable gift I received included many gifts! My husband had a scavenger hunt planned out for me on my 25th birthday that started in the morning. After every clue, I received a gift but it also included me doing things to receive the gift. Some clues led me to a friend’s house who stamped all of my thank you notes, at a department store i had to listen to a poem and I received a necklace. At the flower shop, I had to answer trivia questions and then i was given 25 roses!! There were 25 total clues, since it was my 25th birthday. At the end of the night, i was led to a party where all my friends gathered. Throughout the day, I gathered all the jewelry and clothing needing to dress for the party also. This was the best day ever!!

The best gift I’ve ever received was probably the photo album my friends made me for my birthday last year. I was moving abroad at the end of the year so they wanted to give me something I could keep. It has lots of pictures of us, and long notes about hypothetical futures for all of us, and even a whole comic! I love it and I know that thanks to that I’ll always remember our amazing times together, no matter what happens :)

Wow at 10 years!! Congratulations Amanda. I love your site and never miss a post. I’m celebrating 2 years in April and am so excited about that; I can’t imagine how you must feel celebrating 10! One of the best gifts I ever got was a mother lode of cake supplies for my birthday in February 2010, from my husband. I had offhandedly mentioned over Christmas holiday that I wanted to “try” making cakes and he acted on that. Two years later, my caking “hobby” has turned into something pretty big and I’m celebrating 10,000 fans on Facebook in April. His encouragement in all that I do means the WORLD to me.

Most memorable gift ever would have to be when my parents got me a car after I turned 16 that Christmas. I saw my sister opening a million different gifts and I was so sad I felt like I didn’t have anything to open. Then we finally got to our stockings and at the VERY bottom of the stocking (which I actually flung out because I thought there was nothing left) was a key! I picked up the key and started screaming and ran outside and there was my first car with a red ribbon on top! I was so excited my sister and I got in the car, with no shoes on and drove it to the mailboxes and back. Best. Gift. Ever. :)

Me and a close girlfriend loved a specific type of cracker that is no longer sold in stores so for her birthday, I scoured the internet and found a few boxes. My husband is not a romantic guy, and he is not good with giving gifts, or cards, or anything for that matter. After 16 years together, I just grown used to it, and it’s okay because no gift could compare to the one he gives subconsciously everyday, and that gift is him sharing his life with me. The best part of that gift is that it keeps giving 24/7. I love you Ed!

The most memorable gift I ever received – oh wow… while I sit here and think about, I keep coming back to my camera that I got for my birthday two years ago. I had been using my point n’ shoot for almost 10 years and had learned how to manipulate it to do just about whatever I wanted. I had secretly been pining away for a DSLR for a few years by then but I had accepted the fact that we couldn’t afford it. That year, when my husband kept going on and saying how he hoped I wouldn’t be disappointed because he only got me one present and it wasn’t big, I felt awful. I thought that I had somehow managed to make him feel like he never did enough for my birthdays when that wasn’t the case at all… then the little stinker gave me my dream camera – the one I would never buy myself because I kept saying it was too expensive and I just couldn’t justify spending that on me. His reasoning was that I might not be able to justify it but he could – because it made me happy.

Definitely the most memorable present to date.

Happy Blogday to you-u-u-u-u-u!!! For me, the most memorable gift I have given was a wreath to my mother. She decided she couldn’t put up a Christmas tree any longer. Being the only girl, I got the first pick of her ornaments; the boys got what I didn’t want. I took all of her favorite ornaments, and a few other Christmas mementos and put them in a pine wreath for her; lights and all. She now puts up this wreath every year on the wall very near where the tree used to be. She has the tendency to collect an ornament whenever she travels so every time I visit her, across the country, I add her latest ornaments to the wreath.

My most memorable, if not my favorite gift, was when my mother took a card for my birthday several years ago and signed it from our family dog, Colby. It was “signed” by her taking his paws into some mud & then placing his paw into the card for the impression. It was a photo card too, in which she placed one of my very favorite photos of him (rolled up onto the sofa with his favorite toy) and when I opened it up – there was his no-so-little paws. It literally made me cry then, as it does today when I look it everyday (as its tucked into my dresser mirror). Sadly Colby is no longer with us, so this card holds even dearer meaning today & will always be my most memorable gift. :)

Happy 10th year of blogging, and one of the best blogs around, I might add! The gift that sticks in my mind is a Christmas gift when I was young enough to still “know” Santa. He brought me a little tin doll house with all sorts of plastic furniture and those chubby little baby people with the movable hands and legs. Wow, I am really dating myself, but I loved that doll house!

Continued success with your blog and many more happy moments in your lives together!

Congratulations! I am not sure the most memorable gift I’ve given – but I hope it would be the photo books that I have created for my mom and dad. The most recent one is going to my mom for her birthday in March – it is just hundreds of pictures of a really special weekend we spent in Door County, WI with her, and cousins. Beautiful pictures of her gardens and her grandchildren. I hope she loves it!

YAYY!! :D How exciting– Congrats and Happy 10th birthday! I’ve been reading your blog for almost 2 years now and can honestly say it’s definitely my favorite blog to follow– there’s everything here and I refer back to it aLL the time for recipes, scrapbook fonts, fun trip ideas, and photography pointers {grin}. I think the most memorable gift I’ve given was for my mom. She’s not the overly sentimental type so gift giving for her can be perplexing at times. One year in college, a few months before Christmas, I thought of the perfect gift! When I was little we’d look up at the stars and find the different constellations (mostly just the dippers lol, I was young) but I didn’t live at home anymore so couldn’t do this with her. I saved for 3 months and bought her a telescope and wrote a note about even though we’re not in the same place anymore, we can still look up at the same sky together {grin}. She looooved it :D

Congrats on 10 years of blogging! I only wish I had discovered you sooner. I had a pretty memorable gift this year for Christmas – my first piece of jewelry from Tiffany & Co. I started to cry as soon as I saw the blue box. Another memorable gift was a lumpy clay swan my daughter made in first grade – it was supposed to be a spoon holder, but no spoon would fit in it. I still have it on my nightstand holding my rings. My daughter is now finishing up her sophomore year of college.

Happy birthday!
I won a trip for two to Maui and gave it to my parents for their anniversary. They were beyond thrilled. I knew I would probably get there someday, and they had never been. Was nice to see how happy they were.
I also might mention that my husband brought me home a box of macarons from NYC, thanks to your blog and me telling him all about them. Love the caramel ones!

She passed away several years ago, but before she did, she gave me special quilts she had made, her engagement ring, her china, and other little things that that were precious to her. I love to open that chest, to pull out the mementos and remember what a jewel my grandma was.

My favorite gift? Hmmm … I’ve had many thoughtful gifts over the years, but last year for my 30th (which I couldn’t bring myself to celebrate), my girlfriends at work bought me a gift certificate for a massage. Happy 10th! Speaking of 10ths, the BEST present I ever received was on my tenth anniversary—my husband had decided not to wear a wedding ring when we got married since “no man in his family had ever worn one before him.” On our tenth anniversary, he handed me a little box, you know…the velvet kind that usually means something sparkly is inside….I opened it and low and behold there was a wedding ring a zillion sizes to big for me! He had decided he, too, wanted to wear one. Truly the BEST present I have ever received!!!

Congrats on the 10 years! That is an exciting milestone! I discovered your site a couple of years ago and have enjoyed it ever since. I especially love the creative photography and the tips you give. You have been inspiring on so many levels.

I struggle to name just one “most memorable” gift, as my husband is an imaginative and thoughtful gift-giver. I do remember when we’d ventured into a long-distance relationship (before we were married) after he’d moved back to the UK, on my first visit he presented me with a surprise weekend getaway to Paris. I was already in awe for getting to visit him in beautiful England – it was the cherry on the top to be able to go to Paris in the same visit.

I am wishing you both many more years of inspiring others!

Note: I do realise that I probably do not apply for the giveaway but fun to share anyway.

The most memorable gift I have ever given was when we gave our boys their first cell phone. We always told them they wouldn’t get a phone until they were 13 (they turn 13 in Sept. and Oct.) but decided to switch my husbands phone line to his work so we had to get a new number and add a new line. The phones were ordered but not in yet so we handed them slips of paper, one had a phone number on it and the other said “You will get your number when you get your phone.” For a split second they had these confused looks on their faces and then you saw it click that they were getting phones. I have never seen two boys jump this much in excitement in my life. You would have thought they had just won the lottery. LOL

The best present I ever received…

My ex-boyfriend I spent many, many weekends walking on the riverfront of Wilmington, NC…strolling along the riverfront, shopping in the cute little shops. trying new restaurants and talking about anything and everything. Those remain some of happiest memories of my life. Fast forward a few years, and we were no longer a couple, but still friends. I was moving out of state, and as a going away gift, he presented me with a painting of the Wilmington waterfront. I was truly touched and the painting still hangs in my livingroom, 11 years later. I can look at it and immediately be taken back to those wonderful, peaceful strolls of yore.

Congratulations on your 10 year anniversary! Our 12 year is this year and it is very exciting to see how far you have come in that amount of time. The most memorable gift I received was from my mom for Christmas a few years ago. She created a scrapbook blanket with photographs that was copied on fabric, with pieces of blankets, clothing from our baby cloths, and fabric with my college logo, sports teams. I cried and keep it out on a blanket holder for everyone to see. It means so much to me and still does!

Memorable birthday gifts? It was this year!!! I usually buy my own gift and let my husband Ed know, “hey, I just bought a Miche bag” or I’m buying Lancome Tresor Love perfume…etc. This year I had purchased a Miche bag early so one day when I was at the computer and he was across from me at his desk, his cell phone rang and he walked out of the room. He gets very few phone calls on his cell phone, so when he came back into the room, I started to “drill” him about who called…who called…who called…and he wouldn’t tell me that “it’s going to ruin your surprise”. WHAT surprise, I already have my b’day present! I wouldn’t let it go, so he finally told me that “Jake called” (from the State Farm commercial)…..it was actually a man who makes wooden covers for pens that I had seen at a craft show in the fall and he was making arrangements to pick it up for me. I love desk stuff, pens, colored markers, note cards, etc. It was a surprise and I loved it!

Happy Birthday to you!!! I’ve just found your website and I enjoy seeing your e-mail in my Inbox! Congratulations on 10 years!

Congratulations on 10 years! What a very cool story of how you began and thank you for sharing so much of your life! My favorite gift I have given is a large scrapbook to my husband of his once in a lifetime trip to China. I worked on it for 3 months and documented his journey with pictures , memorabilia and journaling. He had no idea I had done this until he opened it on Christmas 2008!

My husband gave me a sewing machine a few years ago for my birthday. I’d had one when I was a kid, and it broke sometime when I was in high school, and I’d never gotten around to replacing it. So this was perfect! I use it all the time to make things for our kids, and it was such a great gift. I didn’t know he would get it…I didn’t ask for one, and he went to the saleslady at Sears and asked lots of questions and picked one out himself.

Happy Birthday to you! One of my most favorite gifts I ever gave was a “Where the Red Fern Grows” book that my Mom had as a child. The binding was ruined and falling apart so I had it rebound in a beautiful cover. I gave it to my Mom for her birthday and she cried when she opened it. It was such a treasure to her and to see it new again was so fun for her and for me! I’ll never forget that gift and I don’t think she will either.

that “dog” has changed my life and is now the world to me!…….i can’t imagine life with out him, and there will NEVER be a better gift!

Wow ten years…that is a milestone! Both of you do such a great site on this blog and sharing all that you do. Thank you!
My favorite milestone is when my husband, then boyfriend gave me my first gift after we met. A diamond necklace for Christmas which matched the earrings I had bought with my graduation money from college. It matched perfectly. He made me a steak dinner with candlelight and then presented the necklace with dessert…cherry cobbler! I immediately started to cry!

It was an amazing moment! We had only known each other for two and half weeks.

The most memorable I’ve given was a set of golf clubs our very 1st year married. This was something he hadn’t requested but I knew would come in handy for my business man! That same year, he surprised me with MAC makeup brushes, a gift I had spoken about but didn’t request because I thought they were too expensive at the time (still are, but we seriously couldn’t afford it back then, without the saving my hubs did for that special gift. I still use them today, 11 years later!)

The best gift I’ve given was having my Dad’s siblings (all 6 of them) write him a letter saying what they love about him or things they remember for childhood. It was an incredible thing for me to read through and made me cry. It meant even more to my Dad and is something he treasures.

The best gift I ever gave was I got all my husband’s family and friends to write their favorite memory of him. Some of the stories were sweet (his mom’s) and some were funny (his brothers). Then I compiled it all into a little book. I gave it to him for his 30th birthday.

Happy 10th Kevin and Amanda!! I love that when you logged onto the domain was a countdown.. Way cute. Good job, Kevin. For my most memorable gift, my mom and aunts made me a quilt for my 30th birthday. As it is my mother, there was also a story behind it. I live in Alaska (come visit!), but my family lives in California where I grew up. The colors of the quilt are bright and colorful. The story goes, in the deep dark days of winter, I should wrap myself up in the quilt and think of my family and feel of their love and warmth. I have the best family! They threw a birthday brunch for me with just them and gave me my wonderful quilt. i totally cried! Thank for a wonderful chance to share this story. Happy anniversary and many more to come!

Wow, 1o years that’s awesome. Congrats! I’ve always enjoyed reading your blog and looking at your fabulous pictures.

The most memorable gift I ever received was from my then best friend and later hubby. I bought me a gorgeous ring one year for Valentine’s Day that was a band embossed with hearts and diamonds. I love it so much that when we were married, I decided that it needed to be my wedding ring and would not let him buy me a new ring because I couldn’t bare to not wear this one anymore.

Wow! I think the most memorable gift I ever received was not for a birthday, it was for Mother’s Day. . . my first Mother’s Day with children. You see, I’d had 7 miscarriages with my first husband and was never able to have children of my own. When I married my second husband several years later, he had 3 boys who’d lost their mother to leukemia. I became an instant-mom to 3 boys ages 13, 9, and 4. For that very first Mother’s Day, they gave me a “mother’s ring” with their birthstones in it. Wouldn’t ya know it… they were born the same 3 months that my brothers and I were born in! My mother and I both have children born in January, June, and November! How awesome is that?!

Congratulations on your 10 years… I’ve been following your blog for most of those years and I’ve been truly inspired as I’ve watched you and Kevin remain strong and build a wonderful life together. You’re both pretty amazing!

My most memorable gift…Last Christmas my brother-in-law got me a Dremmel. It’s my first power tool. But now I can sand stuff and try to refinish furniture…mostly my father-in-law uses it to redo the furniture for me, but he’s retired so he has plenty of time and enjoys it so it’s a win-win. :)

The best gift I have ever given was my husbands wedding band. We split up violently when we were still very young. He not only took off his wedding band, he cut it in half. About a year after we were back together, I had it soldiered back together and had “kismet” engraved inside the band for him for Christmas. It was almost impossible to find a jeweler that would soldier it instead of re-pour it. I wanted us to never forget that difficult year. My big, strong Marine cried. The end.

My most memorable gift was when my boyfriend surprised me to visit me one last time before I left for school – we had already said goodbye, and the night before I left he called me and told me to look out my window, and he was standing outside my house smiling at me! After our night ended and we’d said goodbye, he called me again and said to go outside. He left me a teddy bear with a dozen roses – with each rose representing a month of happiness that I’d given him. It was the sweetest gift ever.

He came home from work early, took the four kids, handed me keys to his truck with an ipod to play his voice with my directions and love songs. I was to pick up my best friend and we went to lunch (indian food, my fav), the spa (massage and bath), mani/pedi, then a gift card to shop at Anthropologie. I’ve followed your blog for most of the past 10 years! I found it while researching ideas for my studio and have loved following you and Kevin and your most adorable “dogger-pups”, your travels and the highlights of your lives together. I rejoiced with you at your weight loss (and HAVE to ask how you maintain your figure while sampling those fabulous treats!) and you inspired me to work towards getting myself in shape as well. I’ve lost 84 pounds so far, with only another 20 or so to go. Thanks so much for sharing all of your journeys with us….you’ve made us laugh and have inspired in ways you probably could never have imagined. Blessings on the 4 of you and I be a loyal follower for the next 10 years at least!

My little sister graduated from college January 2011. She loves handbags, so I found a bag that had coordinated accessories (wallet, umbrella, coin purse, etc.) and got it in her favorite color RED. Even though it was more than I wanted to spend (over $200), I couldn’t pass it up. To say she LOVED it would be an understatement, she still thanks me for all of it! Seeing her so happy made me happy as well!

The best gift I have ever been given has been from my mother in law who got me a personal cricut machine. I didn’t even know what it was used for but when I found out I was amazed and excited. She always gets me the best gifts: sewing machine, kitchen aid mixer with stand, and personal cricut were just a few of the gifts I’ve received from her over the years.

Happy Birthday! The most memorable and meaningful gift that I have ever received came from my parents last Christmas. They gave me my Grandmother’s (on my mom’s side) engagement ring and my great grandmother’s (on my dad’s side) wedding band. My bridal set broke and we did not have the money to replace or repair it. I now have a set which means even more to me because it connects me, not just to my husband, but to my extended family as well.

For Mothers day two years ago we gave our moms each a necklace with pendants on them with each of their grandchildren’s name on them. We had been trying to get pregnant for two years so we added on there a “Baby G” pendant to let them know there was another grandchild on the way. It was SO fun to watch their expression as they realized what it meant. I would much rather give gifts than receive :)

The most memorable gift I got was on my 38th birthday. My son and I just moved in with my boyfriend (now husband). He took me out for a romatic dinner. After dinner we went back home where he gave me my birthday presents. The first gift was an electric light for the patio. The second gift was another electric light for the patio. At this point I am thinking to myself, I just moved in and now all I am getting is household items. The third gift was a kleenex box. I was getting upset because he bought me gifts that he wanted and then a box of tissues. He said that there was something inside the box. I looked a little deeper and found another little box. It was shaped like an earring box. I thought to myself finally something that I wanted and I could only use. When I opened the box I found an engagement ring. As I opened the box my husband said “there is a question with this ring, will you marry me?” I was so surprised that I couldn’t speak for a minute and then I said YES!!! He proposed to me in front of my then 7 year old son because he wanted him to be apart of this special moment.

This one is easy. One of my top Love Languages (from The Five Love Languages book – it is a great resource) is gifts so I really like to make them meaningful. However, I think that the best gift by far has been the ring that I had made for my husband on our 10th anniversary (how fitting for this contest :-)
When we got married we really liked the meanings of our first and last names together – it was very special to us & so we took a lot of time to carefully select meaningful names for our daughters as well. On our 10th anniversary I had a ring made that was engraved with the meaning of all five of our names and gave it to my husband. It reads” Power Glory Grace Joy & Hope of the Lamb” It was the perfect way to commemorate who we had become as a family in those ten years.

Happy Birthday kevinandamanda.com & Happy anniversary Kevin & Amanda – may you be blessed with a long and happy marriage!

My favorite artist is P Buckley Moss and one day I was checking out her new prints online. Found one that I just loved and mentioned the name of it to my husband. Months later (seriously month) we were walking along the Erie Canal in Fairport NY and was checking out some of the cute little shops along the way. There was small art store and we went inside. Of course I go right to the bin of prints and was flipping through them. About half way through the bin I saw a tag on one of the prints that said “Happy Birthday Bella” Not only was it the print that I coveted, he had it signed by Pat! He had a lot of planning to do to pull that one off. It is still my most favorite of the 5 prints of now own. What a keeper!

The most memorable gift I ever received is the promise ring my husband gave me when we were just dating. I was going to fly out to see him, but the week before my trip, he got really sick and had a really high fever. He called me and was completely delusional. He was talking to me like I was his friend, but he was talking to me about me. So, he told his “friend” all about how much he loved this girl and described his grand plan to give me a promise ring in detail. He talked about how he was going to pick me up from the airport, drive me to the beach at sunset, and pull out the promise ring. I was completely surprised that he had bought me a ring and he finally felt better, he was SO mad that he had given his surprise away! He went through with the plan anyways and it was so sweet. :-)

She wanted Haviana flip flops with elephants on them for her birthday, but I couldn’t find any. I went to Old Navy and bought some orange flip flops (her favourite colour) and went to Michael’s and bought some cool markers. There are too many memorable moments that are special to list. I will share a most recent gift I am giving on a daily basis which has memorable moments in each day. I take care of an elderly women who is 96 years old. My friends mom. I have adopted her as my own mom passed away many years ago now. This women brings much pleasure taking care of her. I read to her and sing and dance with her. She cannot be alone anymore due to health related issues. My gift to her is time well spent to see her smile and give her dignity in what time she has left. She is a special lady. I feel so appreciated by her. We have given a special gift of love to each other. Thanks for letting me share this.

The most memorable gift I have received is a pair of black cowboy boots. My sister who lives in FL came back to MN to throw a 40th birthday party for me. She bought me the boots. I think she was convinced if she got me cowboy boots I would learn to line dance and love country music. (I ‘ve done one of those two!)

Most memorable gift was given to me by my mom. I had just gone through a terrible divorce and was left a single stay-at-home mom looking for a job and was having to depend on my ex for a car (not good). So my mom gave me her car so I could start my journey to independence!!!!!! My mom rocks and is so supportive!

Happy Birthday! The best gift I’ve ever received is a handmade quilt from my mother just before high school. It had all my t-shirts from preschool to 8th grade. I used throughout high school till I lost it at a college convention in New York! It had a pink Beatles fabric as the border and the t-shirts were lined up in date order! It was the coolest thing ever. My friends all raved about it, and my mom and their moms teamed up to make my friends some. She made another one for me when I went to college with all my high school shirts. I still have that quilt in a box in my attic!

Happy Milestone, Amanda! That’s amazing!
The best gift I’ve ever received is my store-front bakery. I needed an extra 10,000 to open a real store downtown. In preparation for opening an business, I would bake test cupcakes. Just testing my strengths, trying new flavors, etc. I would take the good ones to my neighbor, an elderly man. I told him about wanting to open a store front and how much money I needed, not expecting anything back. But when he died a few months later, he left me 10,500 dollars in his will to open my store. His children weren’t the happiest campers, but it meant the world to me.

HAPPY 10TH BIRTHDAY!! I have to say that my most memorable and special Birthday present was a Heart Shaped necklace with the words I Love You thru the middle of it. My husband gave it to me about 7 years ago. We always tell each other, “I Love you with All my heart” and when I opened the box, all of my nieces and nephews standing around saw it and knew that it meant, “I Love you with All My heart”. I have never received anything with THAT much meaning. It was the most precious gift I could have ever gotten. If I win this birthday tin, it will be a gift for 3 of my nieces (all sisters) that were all born in March. Their birthdays are the 3rd, 16th and 31st. Crossing my fingers….LOL

We love to camp and one of our favorites is an October camp that here in Ohio can be quite cold!!! My best gift ever was from my Grandpa. He bought me a beat-up Kharman Ghia when I was a freshman in college. The front end was beat in, the heater melted the soles of anyone’s shoes who were sitting in the back seat, and it eventually burned up by the side of the road. BUT I was the only one with a car, and I loved it. I will never, ever forget that car, and I’ll never ever forget my Grandpa.

Happy #10 to your website!

My most memorable gift is a mobius strip bracelet my husband got me for Christmas, 2010. I had been asking for one for a couple years…well, he surprised me by getting one for me with such a beautiful quote. “What are you doing the rest of your life? North & South & East & West of your Life. I have only one request of your life. That you spend it all with me. Through all of my life, summer, winter, spring and fall of my life, all I ever will recall of my life, is all of my time with you.”

It’s actually from a song that Barbra Streisand sings. I love this bracelet and the man who gave it to me! ;-)

My best gift was the very first year we were married. Our pastor had preached on being a Godly husband, and considering ways to delight your wife. My husband, while I was in the house cleaning up lunch dishes, and then doing paperwork, was busy in our backyard, setting up our pop-up tent (on the trampoline to keep critters out), filled it with pillows, snacks, water, and we camped out under the stars. A delightful surprise!

Congrats on 10 years. What an amazing gift. My favorite gift given to me was an old tin musical car my grandpa had. When I was young I lays loved to play it. I was excited when my mom gave it to me. Best gift I gave was diamond earrings for my daughters sweet 16.

Congratulations on 10 years!! My most memorable gift (or should I say gifts) are my 3 children. My daughter is 28, my son is 24 and my youngest son is 23. My life would be empty without them and I thank God for his gifts to me.

The most memorable gift I’ve ever received was when my husband surprised me by flying in for the day of our one year anniversary. He was out of town training and thought my sister was picking me up for a fun afternoon together. I couldn’t believe my eyes when it was my husband and not my sister. He had to fly back a day later to finish training. What a memorable day!

The most memorable gift I ever received? Hmmm…..well, my husband does really well thinking of gifts to give me, too….so, one that I remember was, I think our second wedding anniversary, he got me white cotton roses. Why those? Well, because that was the traditional gift (cotton I think….) for a second anniversary. :)

My most memorable gift was given to me on February 5, 2011. My soon to be husband got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. The ring on my left hand is more than just a gift, it’s a memory of the last 4 years together and a symbol of love. We can’t wait for our big day – June 29, 2012!

Congrats on 10years!! I’m a new reader this year. The best gift I have ever received was a homemade birthday card from my infant son. He was in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for the 1st 4 months of his tiny life and this happened to be during my birthday. His nurse took a picture of him with a little birthday hat and made me a card. I don’t think I’ve ever cried over a card before, its the small things that mean so much.

The best gift I ever received was when I was in second grade. My parents surprised me with a ton of Barbie gear. They got me a boat, jeep, car, and a house for my barbies. We weren’t made of money but somehow they found a way to make my Christmas extra special that year.

My favorite present I’ve ever given were tickets to see U2 (my hubby’s favorite band) for our first anniversary. It’s been one of the few times I’ve ever been able to surprise him!

One of the most memorable gifts was a scrapbook that one of my best friends made for me. She had documented our friendship from beginning to present and I was really touched by it!

The most memorable gift I received was from my mother. I was a single mom of a 15-month-old. On Mother’s Day, while I was at work, my mom cleaned my house all day – every nook and cranny. When I walked in the door from work, candles were lit, dinner was in the crock pot, and my house was absolutely spotless. I was so happy and grateful….I cried.
