Kevin & Amanda 10 Year Birthday Bash!

Kevin and Amanda 10 Year Birthday Bash

This week is the 10 year anniversary of kevinandamanda.com. I can hardly believe it’s been ten years!! I feel so, so incredibly lucky that I’ve been able to share these photos, tutorials, travels, and all of my favorite things with you guys for the past 10 years. I absolutely love sharing this site with you — it is truly a dream come true. I cannot put into words how grateful I am for each and every one of you who stops by, and for all your sweet and encouraging comments over the years. You guys are the best.

Kevin and Amanda 10 Year Birthday Bash Kevin & Amanda, March 22, 2002

Kevin bought me the domain name kevinandamanda.com for the one year anniversary of our first date, March 22, 2002. We were two months and nine days away from being married. I was already “blogging” at the time — even though back then we didn’t really officially have blogs as we know them today! But I still loved taking photos and posting them online, sharing a peek into our lives, what we were up to, and things I loved. Kevin has always had a talent for showing his affection through romantic, thoughtful gifts, and our own domain was so perfectly me. He surprised me that afternoon by asking if I’d ever thought about getting my own domain name for my site. My answer was of course yes!! He asked me what name I’d choose, and without hesitation I answered kevinandamanda.com. He sat down at the computer. Let’s pull it up to see if anyone’s taken it yet, he said. As he typed in the letters — kevinandamanda.com — and the page slowly loaded, I could tell there was something already there.

Kevin and Amanda 10 Year Birthday Bash Take a peek at what Kevin & Amanda has looked like over the years.

It was a countdown to our wedding day.

The most memorable gift I ever gave was a roll-top desk I got for my first husband for his birthday. He’s been wanting one for a long time. I put it on lay-away at a furniture store in Las Vegas where we lived for 10 years. I scrimped and saved, including loose change, and finally got it paid for. I was so thrilled when I got it paid for and had it delivered. He was really surprised and pleased. The most memorable gift(s) I ever received were my 7 children….8-)

Last February my husband and I celebrated 10 years of marriage.
Let’s see … the best gift I received from my husband, speaking on the material, is definitely my goal and my 50mm SLR, little by little I want to keep improving my team. And in the non-material support in my new hobby, photography and blogging.

my most memorable gift would be when my dad gave me a stand mixer! even though it wasn’t the famous kitchen aid (b/c they’re expensive & i just started baking like crazy), i love it completely. the reason? i had nonchalantly told my parents that i wanted a stand mixer since it’ll be easier than the hand mixer that i had…and a few weeks later, ta-da! stand mixer! my jaw dropped.

& CONGRATS on the 10 years! i`m so happy for you two! you guys started something awesome here!

It was our first Valentine’s day together and he bought me diamond earrings. They were tiny tiny little earrings, but beautiful. He said, “I know they’re small but I wanted to be the first to get you diamonds and I promise the next diamond you get will be bigger.” 4 months later we got engaged.

Happy 10th Anniversary! Love your awesome site and beautiful photos.

One of the most memorable gifts I gave was luna moth coccoons — we ordered some two winters ago and they hatched last spring. We ended up raising four generations of lunas last summer — and we shared caterpillars and coccoons with many friends. It was pure joy to watch the transformation ourselves, but even better to hear our friends’ stories of seeing the metamorphosis firsthand.

My most memorable birthday gift was on my 50th birthday (7 years ago in July!) when my girlfriends picked me up in a car decorated with pictures of me and Paula Deen and took me to Savannah (from Palatka, FL) for a wonderful day topped off by lunch at The Lady and Sons. First of all, Happy Birthday! I have to tell you that I found you through Pioneer Woman the other day and was so impressed I signed up for your blog! I really thought the story of Kevin buying the domain name and having the countdown to your wedding was so sweet! It is nice to know there are couples like you out there, we hear so much negative in the news about marriages, nice to hear the positive stuff.

I received a memorable gift from my hubby on our first anniversary. We were dirt poor at the time, having married young (I was 19!) and we had made a deal not to do gifts. When we married I had carried a lace fan with some white daisies on it. My sweet hubby snuck that fan out and got the florist to put pretty silk daisies in for the long dead ones and wrapped it up as a surprise for our anniversary. I was so touched. It probably only cost $10, but the fact that he thought of something so meaningful to me and did it made it priceless!

I gave my Mom a memorable Christmas gift a few years back. I wrote down 52 things that I was grateful to her for, some serious, some silly, etc. . . . And I put them on slips of paper in a pretty glass jar that I wrapped with ribbons. Then, each week she would take one out and read it and have the knowledge of another reason I love and respect her. As an added surprise to me, she kept each slip and scrapbooked it with her response to me. She gave me the book the following year! We both really enjoyed this gift, which again cost almost nothing, but is priceless to us both!

Thanks for letting us share our stories and for the chance to win the Harry and David gift. I hope you have a wonderful “Birthday” week!

Congratulations on 10 years! Wow! My most memorable gift came a few years ago. I was never one to make Christmas wish lists, but I did that year, gave it to my mom and she got me everything on my list (I told her to get me one thing, as most everything was pretty pricey)! When I was around 9 or 10 I asked for a trampoline. This is fifty years ago when trampolines were built on a heavy wooden frame an installed over a hole in the ground. My parents were friends with the sporting goods store owners who told them it was too dangerous. So instead, they got me charcoals and pastels and drawing paper and how to draw books and calligraphy inks and pens and books. It was the first time I had ever asked for something I did not get — however, it was the first step in a lifelong love of all things art and craft related. Best gift ever.

Congrats on 10 years! The best gift I’ve given was for my husband and I’s 25th wedding anniversary we were in Hawaii on the island of Kauai and I surprised him with a private dinner on the beach. It was so beautiful and romantic watching the sunset and reminiscing over the past 25 years.

Congrats! My most memorable gift were heart shaped earrings I received from my boyfriend, who is now my husband…I was the first person he’d ever bought nice jewelery for! I still wear them all the time!

Happy 10th!!! I’ve received too many memorable gifts over the years that it is hard to pick! I really loved the cruise that my husband gave me for my 32nd bday though…wish I could go back and relive that one!!

The best gift I ever gave was to my 3 grandchildren. My husband and I took them on a trip to the Disney World Theme parks & Universal Studios. Wow, that was quite a week, but it is a very good memory! Congrats on your anniversary, I have really enjoyed your site!

During my first visit to the Isabella Stuart Gardner Musuem in Boston, I fell in love with a painting by John S. Sargent. I felt like I was in the room with the gyspy dancing. I could feel the music being played, it was truly fantastic. It was a very moving experience for me. On my next birthday a good friend of mine had purchased a print and made a replica of the frame from the museum. I still can help but smile when I think of it.

Congrats on 10 years!!! How exciting! The most memorable gift would have to be my Christmas gift from my now husband our first Christmas together. He gave me a picture frame and inside was his proposal. He read it to me, it ended with …. he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was a complete surprise and so romantic. Plus I will forever know every word of his proposal.

Happy birthday, kevinandamanda! I am sooo happy I found your blog! Congrats!!! As for the best gift of all, I’d have to say our puppy Maggie. We don’t have children yet, so she kind of made us into a little family!!!

The most memorable gift I have ever recieved was when I was 16, my boyfriend at the time had moved away to Louisville, which was about an hr away from where we lived, but we decided to get together for a day just before Christmas. At the end of our day together, he goes in his room and brings out a quite heavy cardboard box. Inside are four handmade stoneware mugs, a variety of loose teas in plastic baggies and a tea ball. I have loved hot tea ever since, and have passed that love on to my four children.
This past week, I was up to Indiana from my now home in Texas for a week to visit my mom, I happened to notice the last of the four mugs, the only remnant of a gift long etched into my memory, hanging from one of my mothers cup hooks in her kitchen. I grabbed it and asked if she minded if I took it home with me. She didn’t and I think I will close this and go fix myself a cup of Chamomile and Chrysanthemum tea to enjoy the rest of my morn.
