Left My Heart in Santorini…

Santorini, Greece

Last October I had the incredible opportunity to spend 2 life-changing weeks in Greece.

I went with a friend the last two weeks of October 2016.

At first I was worried about how the weather would be in October…

Santorini, Greece

Would it be too rainy, too cloudy that late in the year?

Santorini, Greece

As you can see, the weather was absolutely amazing!

Santorini, Greece

Not too hot, not too cold, and SO much sun!

Out of the entire 2 weeks, we only had 2 cloudy days.

Our first stop was the stunning island of Santorini.

I’ve always seen pictures of this place, and it’s always been on my bucket list…

But let me tell you, it’s even more amazing in person.

I could just sit here and sunbathe all day!!

We spent 5 days in the village of Oia (pronounced E-ah).

Highly recommend this area of Santorini… It is so beautiful!

October is a great time to come too, because it’s the end of the season so it’s less crowded.

You can fly or take a ferry to Santorini… we took a flight from Athens on Aegean Airlines.

Sunset in Santorini

Santorini is famous for their sunsets!

We made sure to watch it from somewhere every single night.

Where to Stay

Santorini, Greece

We spent three heavenly nights at Ikies Traditional Houses in Oia, Santorini.

Santorini, Greece

Honestly one of the most romantic places I have ever stayed!

The window in the bedroom opened directly to our private hot tub. You could sit in the window sill and dangle your feet in the hot tub.

At Ikies Traditional Houses, breakfast is served on your balcony every morning.

The staff at Ikies Traditional Houses were so sweet and had so many great recommendations for us.

I loved Santorini so much, I couldn’t fit in all into one post. Be sure to check out our other posts from Santorini and Greece:

Thank you so much! You can get an amazing sunset view anywhere in Oia, but my favorite was from Oia Castle! :)

Love all the information & pictures, and your blog in general!! I am currently planning a trip this late October to Santorini as well, but did you have issues with the ferry and scheduling? I am finding a very limited schedule (only one the entire week!) and was hoping to head to Mykonos after Santorini so was curious if you experienced something similar or how you traveled off the island! Thanks!!

I was in Santorini a fews back and i agree 100% that it is a very romantic place with unbelievable sunsets. The partons there are all so kind and interesting. I just loved talking to the locals to learn some of their cultures. As you know the island lives on tourism. I crossed this place off my bucket list but I may be back.

Beautiful pictures, we are planning a tript o Greece this year and I am in the process of reading up on it with a Rick Steves Guide book. Santorini is one of the islands I want to visit . Did you go to Athens as well. I was wondering how difficult it was flying into Athens then onto the islands.

I LOVE these pictures…Santorini is so beautiful!!
Is that a pool that curves under a home in several of your pictures? I noticed what appears to be several beautiful turquoise water pools in many photos.

I am new to your site and will be adding this to MY bucket list. I am glad to know that October is a good time to travel there. I am looking for places to go in October and in March and April that have good weather. Your photos are amazing. What was the food like there? I am vegan-would I have a hard time finding things to eat? Is bottled water available there?
So glad I found your site.

Of all the places you’ve gone (and they’ve all been fantastic), this is the one that sticks with me. It’s officially on my bucket list! :) I was just telling the rest of the Steeds this weekend about how unbelievable your photos were from there and how I HAD to get there one day!
