I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Launch Party with Alex Guarnaschelli and Kim Cattrall

So here’s why we were out and about in snowy NYC this past week. I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter invited us to attend a gorgeously orchestrated launch party where they introduced their new celebrity spokesperson, Kim Cattrall. For the party we were treated to a fabulous brunch featuring recipes created by Chef Alex Guarnaschelli for the event.

The brunch was at Alex’s restaurant, Butter, which was turned into I Can’t Believe it’s Not Butter for the morning.

Before the festivities began, we sat down and chatted with Alex. I am a huge fan of hers from watching Chopped on Food Network, and she is so incredibly gorgeous and hilarious in person. It was such a pleasure to meet her.

They had toast bar set up. Glorious.

I was really excited for brunch by Alex. Brunch is unequivocally my favorite meal of the day.

These deliciously soft and creamy biscuits were the highlight of the event. Everyone was just buzzing about them. I’ll leave you with the recipe for these Unbelievable Biscuits…

Unbelievable Biscuits
by Chef Alex Guarnaschelli

3 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for rolling
1 tbsp. PLUS 1-1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. sugar
2 1/4 tsp. salt
2 1/2 cups heavy or whipping cream

Preheat oven to 350°. Sift flour, baking powder, sugar and salt into large bowl. Add cream to dry ingredients, mixing with hands. Take care there is no flour remaining in the bottom of the bowl. Turn biscuit mixture onto lightly floured surface. With floured hands, shape into 9 x 6-inch rectangle, about 1-inch-thick. Lightly flour knife and cut biscuit mixture lengthwise into 4 pieces, then crosswise into 6 pieces, to make 24 (1-1/2-inch) squares. Arrange biscuits on nonstick baking sheet or baking sheet lined with parchment paper; chill 15 minutes. Bake 15 minutes or until biscuits are light golden brown.

Makes 24 biscuits.

Try them with this sweet, I-can’t-believe-it’s-not buttery marmalade spread.

Oh, goodness, how fun is this!!! I LOVE biscuits and this recipe looks so easy, too. Okay, I do have to say that the vintage toasters are adorable. I really want one just like in my home!!! Vintage makes anything look better :) :) Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather :)

What a beautiful tablescape with all those yellows! A great idea to decorate with toasters for a restaurant called Butter :)
The biscuits and marmalade sound divine!

Thanks for posting the recipe…I wonder if there is something gluten free in their repertoire. I think that is was appropriate to have biscuits for brunch coming from Alabama. The best breads I ever tasted were in the South, they just seem to have the touch. What about bakeries in your local area, are they doing any fabulous biscuits?

This biscuit recipe looks delish. I clicked on the marmalade link but only got the biscuit recipe again. Where is the marmalade recipe?

I must admit, I’m a bit envious. I am a HUGE fan of Alex! Her show “Alex’s Day Off” is a MUST on Sunday mornings. This must have been SO cool! Thanks also for sharing the biscuit recipe — will definitely try it!

Your website is absolutely delightful. I have enjoyed exploring your different links and reading your stories. I am just now learning how to use my DSLR and looking at photographs with a different eye and I just had to let you know that your photos are truly remarkable. You make even an ordinary subject burst with interest by the way you use light, depth of field and angles. I wonder if you can share the type of equipment you use and maybe on a separate page, the “information” about some of the photos (I would be especially interested in this, so I can correlate the aperture, ISO, white balance, shutter speed, etc, with the effect). Anyway, very very nice job and I look forward to your future blog posts.

We watch Chopped all the time! I really like Alex G., too. And I really like that they changed the name of her restaurant for one day. ;) Those biscuits looks great! And I’m pretty positive they taste similar to a scone recipe I have…same ingredients! Except for the scones have butter IN them, too. Calories, schmalories! =) Mmmm!
