Three Amazing Places in Greece

Shipwreck Beach, Navagio Beach, Zakynthos, Greece

Here’s where we went off the beaten path on our ultimate Greece road trip! :) I’ve been getting a lot of emails recently asking how I usually go about planning these types of trips… Honestly usually I just look on Pinterest and save all the most beautiful pins and add them to my bucket list!

Zakynthos

Shipwreck Beach, Navagio Beach, Zakynthos, Greece

Navagio Beach (aka Shipwreck Beach) on the island of Zakynthos is one of those places that just kept coming up on Pinterest over and over.

After seeing pictures of this place I knew I had to see it for myself in person!!

How incredible is this water??!

Thanks to our driver from Hellenic Private Tours, we were able to just drive around the island stopping at gorgeous overlooks along the way.

The Cliffs of Keri. Perfect spot to watch the sunset!

The next day we had lunch at Zante port before catching the ferry back to the mainland for our next stop. SO gorgeous!! Would love to spend more time here next time!!

Meteora

Meteora, Greece

Oh my gosh you guys…

Meteora, Greece

Meteora is one of the most incredible places I’ve ever seen.

Meteora, Greece

Meteora is home to six unique monasteries suspended in the air, built on natural sand stone rock pillars.

These monasteries date back to the 11th century.

If you are ever in Athens, I cannot recommend this enough — please add an extra day to your itinerary and do a two-day tour to Delphi and Meteora with Hellenic Private Tours.

The James Bond movie For Your Eyes Only was filmed at the Monastery of Holy Trinity.

We had souvlaki nearly every day in Greece. Miss this so much!

Stay tuned for our last post from Greece! We walk in the footsteps of Apostle Paul in Thessaloniki and Philippi.

Until next time! xoxo

years ago, my husband and Friends travelled through Greek by bicicle. I totaly agree that Meteora, Zakynthos and Paros are one of the very nice places we saw. Also the south of Crete is Wonderful and the Ionian Islands like Zakyntho, much more than the touristic Island near Turkey, were a lot of refugis must live. for your next Greek trip I wish you a nice holliday with friendly Greek People.

Amanda, thank you soooo much for all of your good information and gorgeous photos! My 2 amazing old high school girlfriends and I have been planning a trip to Greece to celebrate our retirements for over a year, and we used your website as a source of guidance. We are—right now— in Greece for a month, and we just finished our first leg which included a 3-day tour with Hellenic Private Tours and was complete heaven. We are thoroughly spoiled for having anything less attentive in the future! Our driver was Mike, and he made sure our every minute was delightful. So polite, well informed, considerate, fun, trustworthy, and 100% there for us. Wow! I can’t say enough about the planned details. We had lunch at Maria’s in Tolo, as you suggested, and that has been favorite restaurant so far. Gorgeous setting on the water on the Peloponnese, excellent food.
We flew to the island of Milos yesterday to kayak, and are in love with this island. In Oct it is quiet, but tons of excellent restaurants and bars, gorgeous weather (low to mid 70s, soft breeze, cool nights). We’re staying in a darling beachy house at Adamas, and we hiked the back road to Plaka today, one of the most beautiful, charming, friendly towns ever! I’m coming back here! Next we go to Santorini, then Crete.
Thanks again for your great information!

Hi, just chanced upon your site, and am also going to meteora. I was just wondering if u needed to get a separate guide to the site or it’s a place where you can explore at your own pace, since Hellenic private tours just drive you to your destination?
Thanks for sharing such beautiful content!

Your trip looks amazing!  Did you book private tour guides on your stops?  I’m booking a similar trip and wondered if a guide was necessary?  Thanks!
